I don't think I had a particularly high level; I just didn't think the statues were very difficult, especially when you got replacements for fallen characters.

I think you're mistaking the battle with the statues with the final battle, Kara : for the statues, your party is divided in 3 groups, and each one of them has to fight a statue. For the final battle though, you have one party, and the fallen characters are replaced.
As for the poll, I didn't find neither the statues or the final boss really difficult, even on my first attempt, when my characters were not overpowerful (no Ultima, just some Bum Rush, Chainsaw,Swordtechs and a lot of Cure3 and Flare). I just got a little scared, the first time I saw Kefka launch his Fallen one attack. My next games, I almost always had at least 2 characters at Level 99, so there wasn't really a challenge...

I didn't think they were that bad. I know you can use Stop on Poltergeist, which can save your butt a lot, and the other two aren't too bad if you can get some strong hits on them early.

You're right; I was. happy.gif I didn't find that difficult, either. The hardest time I had in Final Fantasy VI was with random dinosaurs...

The statues were only tough for me the first time and when doing the 3-Man. I found the toughest one to be Poltergeist at first, because of a number of powerful attacks it had. Also, I didn't know any of the statues' weaknesses, so that factored in. Since then, I've just blown through them.

Using the 3-Man, though, Doom was the toughest for three reasons:
1) I had to use an L44 Edgar on him. Not only is Edgar the useless boob of the 3-Man, he was also my least-leveled.
2) Instant death attack. Edgar = 3000 HP. Demon Rage = 6700 HP. And Targetting removes Vanish. Got to have good timing to survive.
3) I had to use a force shield to survive the Ice attacks, and his physical attack became a bit more powerful (1500 HP).

The other two were still wusses.

Nah! No trouble with any of them! It's sad in FFVI when you level up so high the game isn't difficult anymore. When I launched my final attack at Kefka's Tower, Locke was at level 99, about 6 other characters at level 80 or so, and all others at level 65 or something. I crushed all resistance! Mwa hah! user posted image

But, getting certain Lores from certain statues was much harder. Had to walk in and out of the tower and be patient during the battles to get them.

I was probably on level 40 and it was still easy to beat the statues...but then most of the battles in FF6 were moderately difficult at best.

I had trouble only with Goddess because of her condemning skill. The others were pieces of cake, even with using no magic other than Cure2, Cure3, Life2, and Heal.
