Quote (sweetdude @ 6th January 2011 07:41) Overall I reckon this year will be full of really good games, assuming they come out in time. I totally agree on both accounts. This holiday seems so stacked with big name releases that I'm half expecting most of the games listed to be pushed back to get out of the way of their competition. And god only knows what my wallet is going to look like at the end of this year... Here's some of the games I'm really excited for w/ projected release dates Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective - Jan. 11 Little Big Planet 2 - Jan. 18 Dragon Age 2 - Mar. 8 Mortal Kombat - March 2011 3DS - March Portal 2 - Apr. 20 Uncharted 3 - Nov. 1 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Nov. 11 Team Ico Collection - Q1 2011 Gears of War 3 - Q4 2011 Last Guardian - Q4 2011 Mass Effect 3 - Q4 2011 Journey - 2011 -------------------- "We're not tools of the government or anyone else. Quote (FallingHeart @ 6th January 2011 20:24) Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Nov. 11 Woah count me in for that one too. I don't like the sound of Nov 11 though, that sounds more like Q2 2012. I wasn't even aware that a lot of work has already gone into the game, and something like Oblivion or Fallout needs a great deal of time. Perhaps the early release date means it'll look and play a lot like Oblivion, with no major structural changes? -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Perhaps the early release date means it'll look and play a lot like Oblivion, with no major structural changes? Keep in mind that Bethesda didn't really do the developement work on New Vegas, which would make Fallout 3 they worked on in house. That was released in 2008, and three years is a pretty good dev cycle for a game like that, especially considering how their studio has expanded since Oblivion came out (I'm pretty sure there are multiple teams there at this point). I do hope there will be significant structural changes from Oblivion and definitely from the Fallout games, but supposedly the whole game is running on a brand new engine which is reason enough for me to get excited. Just today Game Informer announced that next month's cover story will be all about the game, with some screenshots to be unveiled, so there will probably be more to talk about then. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive...s-v-skyrim.aspx I also totally forgot to add Catherine to my list, assuming it doesn't take forever to localize like every other damn Atlus game. -------------------- "We're not tools of the government or anyone else. Quote (laszlow @ 2nd July 2010 22:16) For the short term, I'm looking forward to playing Dragon Quest IX, TWEWY (got a copy from a friend a month or two ago), and a bunch of older PS3 games that came out before I owned a PS3. This is me about... 8 months ago. I'm still behind on my PS3 games (although I did finish a couple), but I played the **** out of Dragon Quest IX. At least a hundred hours. It was a grind, but good; then it was a grind, but too much. I tried playing TWEWY. Didn't like it. I might give it another chance later in the year. Right now, I'm pumped for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (February 15th), Dragon Quest VI (also February 15th), Torchlight 2 ("spring 2011"), Uncharted 3 (November 1st), inFamous 2 ("sometime in 2011"), and Diablo III (maaaaybe later this year). I know those are all sequels, but hey - I won't know if something new's good or not until I hear about it. And speaking of which, there are two DS games that came out recently that have me *very* intrigued. Ghost Trick (ghost detective game by the Phoenix Wright guys), and 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (crazy puzzle/adventure game). One or both of those sounds perfect to get me through the wait before February 15th. Anyone played them? -------------------- |

Tactics Ogre, Marvel/Capcom 3, The Last Guardian, FF IV PSP, Duke Nukem Forever (why not?), Elder Scrolls V.
And here's hoping Last Story and Persona 2.1 PSP come out over here! -------------------- "If art doesn't risk upsetting expectations and challenging its audience, it can only stagnate." |

I have a new game to look forward to: Tales of Graces F. This will be the first time in about 4 or 5 years that there's a new main-series Tales game out in English for a system I actually own. I'll buy this day-one and try to coerce some of my RL friends to play co-op with me.

I find myself utterly aching for Portal 2 right now. I wasn't that bad until I finally preordered it last week, and preloaded it on Steam yesterday. And now I just am frothing at the mouth, waiting.

Awesome pair of DS games. Really enjoyed Dragon Quest VI, but I still like V and VIII best in the series. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is big fun. Completely insane, way better than 2 at a technical level and in gameplay. Still waiting on inFamous 2 (dated for June), Uncharted 3 (still 11.1.11 or 1.11.11, whichever you prefer), and Torchlight 2 (pushed back to July/August). Still excited about Tales of Graces F. Still no good idea about Diablo III. Other than those, the only 2011 game I'm excited about is Disgaea 4, which supposedly comes out this summer. Might be a little burned out from 3, though, so I might not get it day one. -------------------- |

I was sort of ambivalent about this game when I heard the news. I played it at a friend's house not too long ago and was underwhelmed (ironic, considering the game is designed to induce seizures). I just can't get into fighting games that are designed purely for combos. Currently looking forward to FFIV Complete Collection which comes out next week and Monster Hunter Freedom 3. -------------------- Wha? Thanks to me? |

I have both Mortal Kombat and Portal 2 preordered off amazon for next week, first time I've reordered a game in over a year. I got the PS3 version of portal even though the controller is the least ideal of the three possible ones because of the free PC version that comes with it. I'd play it on the PC first time through except I really doubt my current machine can run it very well, and I'm guessing this game will be a little more taxing on my computer than the first because of the outdoor environments

Wow. Well I haven't been playing very many games these past fews but I am looking forward to a few. The Tekken/Streetfighter games look pretty amazing. And as soon as I get some spending money I'll be getting the new Mortal Kombat. Apart from that I can't say I'm too excited about new titles.
Oh and if Saints Row 3 ever gets more than a green light, I'll be looking forward to that one for sure ![]() -------------------- "You know that feeling you get when you're on a merry go 'round, and you want to jump off to make the spinning stop, but you know it'll suck when you land? I'll be revisiting that one for sure - might even go for the platinum. Sadly, Torchlight 2, Tales of Graces F, and Disgaea 4 all got their dates pushed back - Disgaea 4 comes out September 6th, Torchlight 2 is probably coming out in October, and Tales of Graces F lands in 2012. Still pumped for all three of those, especially Disgaea 4. I'm messing around with Disgaea 2 in the interim, to get back in the swing of things. And of course I'm still pumped for Uncharted. It's probably the PS3's signature series, and Uncharted 2 was everything an action game should be. I'm especially happy that both Chloe and Elena are returning. -------------------- |

Waiting for DQ X. Not sure what system or when they plan to release it. I hear its going to be on the Wii but crap always changes. I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought a 3ds on price drop just so I can have a way to play all the DQ games and if X is released on it, Ill already be ready for it.

Yeah, I have a feeling its going to be Wii as well ... but its taken 4 years already to get to where it is, whats to stop them from actually putting it on the new Wii because that was the plan to begin with and the reason its taken so long? Or making it the first DQ in 3d or whatever? I just had to cover all available bases.

I still think that spending $150+ on a game system on the possibility that a game might get ported to it after YEARS of development on another system is... a little pointless. If you wanted to play older Dragon Quest games, your best bet would have been buying a regular DS or DS Lite for IV - VI + IX.
But ah well. I'm also pretty pumped for DQ X. I've said over and over - it will probably be the game that makes me buy a Wii. -------------------- |

Since that system's HD, has a new controller, and is coming out next year, I would think they'd at least think of that as an option. And I'm sure that developers have known about the new hardware longer than we have, and either way they could delay it. that may be the game that gets me into the series if they do that. Bringing it back to Skyrim guys: I know that most capital gain for game studios comes from the console markets now. So much to the chagrin of PC gamers; many games have been developed with consoles in mind lately, then ported to PC.
Does anyone know if this is happening with TES V: Skyrim? I'm not sure whether to get it for ps3 or pc, and get it i shall. I SHALL. -------------------- www.youtube.com/blinje The victor sacrificed the vanquished to the heavens |
