Hi,
I own both the FF7PC game and the FF7 PSX game. It is now 2011 and I'd like to play again. What is the best way to play? I would prefer to use an emulator of some sort because I need to be able to fast forward. Sorry, but I just don't have the time to sit through tiring battles and stuff anymore So considering all that, ye who are most knowledgeable of all things FF, what is the best path for me? |

Emulation is definitely the way you want to go if you want fast forward. I haven't kept up with PSX emulation recently, but I assume ePSXe works as well as it always did, along with Pete's video plugins and Eternal sound plugin. Scout around for decent settings to make things work right; FF7 can be fiddly about a few things, especially battle swirls.
FF7 PC has its own benefits, mostly from the modding side; for instance, you can play through the game using the prettier-looking battle models of the characters on the field and world map. I don't believe there's any sensible way to have it fast forward, which sounds like a deal breaker for you, but it does at least have innately superior load times. |

I am rather fond of the PSN downloaded version for PSP. You cannot fast forward; it does gain the benefit of portability, though.
