I was wondering:

When he says:some people kill his emotions he must have experience from life to say that.

He's pretty cold himself and rather keeps himself far away and people touching him out of reach.

I can't remember if they said why shadow left his daughter relm, because he abandoning her is certainly not nice.

Perhaps said person meant too much to him and he didn't want to become attached.

(Also, spoilers.)

The thing is:

What he did was pretty cold to abandon his cute little daughter.

It was just plain cruel.

Well, he was also a wanted criminal who had lifted a million gil from a train, most likely authorities were looking for him. Doesn't sound like the best environment to raise a family in, eh?

I thought he got framed and didn't commit the train robbery crime at all.

Shadow just wanted to do the best for his daughter, and maybe he thought that Relm would grow up to hate him, her Father if she ever found out that he was a wanted criminal. Plus it would of been hard to try and escape from the police and try and raise a daughter at the same time. He just wanted to make the right choice and give his daughter a better life than his own.

Well, I don't think there seem to be police in that world, but there are certainly vigilantes who would want Clyde's head.

Well at one point in the game, Shadow himslef does say: "I've foresaken the world..."
This quote is almost impossible to see as it is only said if you never have spoken to Shadow until you meet him in Albrook's port before leaving for Thamasa.

I've always imagined there to be police/authorities. In Shadow's case, they would be from whatever city/nation/entity the train they robbed belonged to.

I just figured it was one of thost 'not important to the game world so no mention/elaboration was made of it' sort of things. Shadow committed a bad crime and some peeps were after him; and that's what was important.

Sidebar, I know, haha.

There's some truth to that. It wasn't necessarily important to know why he left. That's kind of the mystery about him. But you can infer that he was being chased by the law, and maybe that caused him to change his identity. Also, if you'll notice, the only trains left are those that are haunted. Maybe railways dropped out of use. Maybe that's why he became and assassin. Or, perhaps he was never completely welcome in Thamasa, since he wasn't a mage.

Its sad what happened to shadow,a real tragedy.
If he comes out of the shadows,he will get hunted down and they would go after his daughter relm, but on the other hand i felt that he was suffering from guilt of having to run all the time and not being able to be with her.

No, I don't think those two occurences are related. Cyan states that all of Doma's railways were destroyed in the war against the Empire. Given that Doma seemed to be the most technologically backwards major power in the game world, I could be damn sure that Figaro, Jidoor, and the Empire also have railways. Why the player never sees them? One those things, I figure.

The Phantom Train is most likely unrelated to any railroads in the game world; being a supernatural entity, it was probably 'always there'.

If they ever remake this game I wonder if they'll include more dream sequences for different characters. For instance, GoGo could dream about racing Setzer if he/she is really Daryl.

I wonder why Shadow didn't kill his friend. I bet his friend did get tortured since Shadow feels so much regret.

Anyone get the crap scared out of them the first time they saw the first dream sequence? I remember it like yesterday. I got up in the middle of the night just to go in the basement and play FF6. It was around 3 am and I had it fairly loud because I loved the music and then yeah. That dream was intense. I had no idea what was going on. Good times. In retrospect it's kind of weird that I had it loud since I wasn't supposed to be up but whatever. Still good times. Smiley.

On the dream sequence thing. I guess Cyan did have his own strange dream sequence as well but it wasn't quite the same.

shadow felt regret after baram got captured and decided to become a mercenary. but while he was running, he found refuge in thamasa and settled down with a woman instead. (only explanation for relm) after his daughter was born, relms mother died in the birth process and the guilt of barams death resurfaced.

(this last part im speculating ->) after that, clyde went to stragos house because strago was well mannered or wanted a suitable man to raise his daughter (or just left the house with his daughter alone and strago found her). then he was racked with the guilt of not one, but two people and decided that he wanted to become a mercenary and to lose his guilt through killing people.

(back to facts ->) after the events that happened in FFVI, in the end, shadow states he knows: "what friends are... and family!" that meaning he knows what he's missing out on and wants to claim redemption by killing kefka. he could have said screw you to the party after ghestal died, but remained with the party because he didnt care about cash anymore. or else he wouldnt have stayed behind to stop kefka. his daughter was there and he wanted to see things to the end. whioch is why either shadow stayed behind during the credits to die, or to forsake his weakness as shadow and become clyde again and be there for his daughter, we will probably never know the answer.

but this is what i think shadows background would look like and what it most likely is (plus or minus a few details)

I think in fact that its very accurate about shadow in fact.

Shadow is an assassin - as the Sniper from Team Fortress 2 put it, feelings will only get in the way in that line of work.

"FEELINGS? Look mate, you know who has a lot of feelings? Blokes who bludgeon their wives to death with a golf trophy. Professionals have STANDARDS - be polite. Be efficient. Have a plan to kill everyone you meet."

(awesome quote, by the way)

On a more spoileriffic note...
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
His feelings were what kept him from mercy-killing his friend, Baram. I think he "hid" his feelings after that day in order to never do a mistake like that again.
