My guess is that there's something not playing nice when a user submits a comment from the site rather than from the forums. Will certainly look into it at some point, it actually impacts some other stuff too.

This should now be fixed. There were a couple things tied up in this issue, but the fix wasn't that bad, just some missing stuff in a third-party code library.
