For awhile, I would say the first Metal Gear Solid, although as of late I have started to lean more towards MGS3: Substinence as my favorite.

Well much the same for me MGS1 was mine, but now leaning more toward MGS3 after having played.
MGS4 was also really good however, rather all of them were.

I've only played MSG 2: Sons of Liberty but I really enjoyed it. My friend told me it was the worst one in the series so I am excited to play the other games in the series, haha.

Metal gear solid 3 is definitely the be all of the metal gears in the series:

Best comedy best gameplay etc.

And best song:snake eater which is pretty epic and kicks butt in mgs4.

When the music kicks in,it becomes really epic in mgs4 and nostaligc just because you are beating up ocelot and it makes you feel like you can win.

mgs3 was more like a spy game and less like a medal of honor.

mgs4 is more like a medal of honor with linear gameplay and more like a movie than a game.

The gameplay wasn't all that good because it went back to mgs1 and 2 principals and mgs1 was great for its time because of the gameplay, but after playing metal gear solid 3,going back to rations and not only not interacting with the sorroundings but on top also more shooting than before and being in the middle of a war kinds of feels off.

I also feel that they centered characters like naomi and tried desperately to make you sympathize with her and instead feel revolt.

I say this because she betrayed snake and was not all that nice of a woman.

They tried too hard on making you like raiden and tried to make you like him more.

I liked the mgs2 raiden better because it was overly melodramatic.

The melodrama was so bad that it made me feel disgust and there were way too many cutscenes.

Honestly,i feel at times they tried to over analize things.

Sometimes you got to leave things alone a little or risk ruining it.

I'm pretty bad at all the Metal Gear games, though I think I made it halfway through the first Solid...at least up to the point where Psycho Mantis criticizes my love of Symphony of the Night. I put my vote in for the original game, mainly because of the line "I FEEL ASLEEP!" which I've been trying to work into my sleep rituals ever since I heard it those many, many years ago.

Those are some great points there. I also have a guilty pleasure of blowing 3 guys with the shotgun in one shot.
