Although not a game, there is word of a sequel to the popular Final Fantasy 7, to come out in the year 2004.
Not many details are available as of yet, however it looks like it will be a CG movie, and have Sephiroth and Cloud (in some form, at least.) According to Gameforms, it will be called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Personally, although I'd love to see this movie, I'm iffy about bringing Sephiroth back to life. He's dead. Cloud killed him what, four times at the end of the game? Unless it's his cells fused in someone elses body. Either way, I'm greatly looking forward to hearing more news about this. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Also, according to some fairly well placed sources, I have information indicating that this MIGHT be the precursor to FF7-2. If that interests you at all. I think sequels to the old games would be a pathetic, Disney-esque money grab. But I'l probably play them.

Looks like it's going to be interesting. I thought that VII was a good nominee for a sequel if any. But I agree with R51 and just think that Squaresoft is doing this for another grab at the green. I'll probably end up getting it, a game or cg movie or whatever, if it comes out nonetheless.

It's amazing/disturbing what will happen when there are enough fanboys/girls.

Found it.
CG of Cloud and Sephiroth, and other bits from a magazine. Thanks to RPGamer. If you take a good look at it, it's actually CG. Like The Spirits Within. This post has been edited by Elena99 on 25th September 2003 23:45 -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

Oh ![]() It looks so much more realistic than TSW and FFX, it's amazing. I just hope the sequel won't use graphics as a crutch the way the original did (no offense to fans, (I am one myself) it's just I get into arguements with fanboys all the time). Overall, I think a movie as a sequel to the game is a dumb idea, but I still may check it out (when it gets to the States) for title loyalty. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Tiddles-followers will know that I'm a big old FF7 fan, but dedicated stalkers will have noticed that I always shrug at sequel talk.
It seems daft, for this reason: FF7 sets up a lot of history which would be a lot more worthy of exploration in a prequel than some half-baked cash-in Cloud vs. Sephiroth 2: This Time It's Personal (subtitle: Random Kingdom Hearts Subplot #57?) type affair. You could do something with things that happened after the ending, sure, but I really don't want to see Sephiroth again in the future of FF7's world. Like the plot of Chrono Cross, I feel it really cheapens the original game that you didn't actually succeed after all. |

Advent means second coming. The Seventh Day Adventists were titled such because they tried to predict Christ return. And buggered it big time. So according to the title it seems Sephiroth will be ressurected. |

Perhaps MANY of the characters are somehow resurrected in this scenario. I still think it's kinda dumb, though. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I can't imagine an FFVII sequel involving the same characters or even remotely the same story that would be in any way appealing. FFX-2 has a story to wrap up, but FFVII had an ending. I really can't imagine a plot that could manage to involve Sephiroth, but, well, I'm not saying it's not possible. In Lunar 2: Eternal Blue,
Possible spoilers: highlight to view , and after finishing Lunar: Silver Star Story, I never thought they could do that in a way that pleased me...but they did. So I dunno. I guess we'll see.Ghaleon is resurrected by Zophar for reasons highly involved with personal motivation, intricate plot details, etc. One thing I do know is this: I'm going to leave my boyfriend for CG Sephiroth. *drool* ![]() -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

wow, so this is just going to be a movie (or you think that thats what it'll be)? this is a very good idea i'd say FFVII always had the most room for a sequel or a prequel and this looks amazing! so whens it due

okay i can see some of you seem mad about this, but i think if they do this well then square will go down the road of making sequals to the FF's, which i think will be amazing. I remembered getting to the end of FF7 a bit quickly and being upset that that was it (forgetting side missions the weapon etc) and there was such an amazing story line there. then i skipped a couple of games and the next i played wa FFX and yet again a great story with an amazing amount of room left for a sequal and again over a bit quickly so i coulnt be more happy for them making sequals/ movies to wrap up amazing games which they couldnt do in the game.
So bring on FF7- Advent children! ![]() This post has been edited by parkspapercut on 29th September 2003 19:57 -------------------- 18th June-Red hot chilli peppers-Manchester city stadium |

But FF7 pretty much was wrapped up, at least concerning Sephiroth. I wouldn't mind a sequel in the same world, but the story of the FF7 characters has really already been told.

Ah, I see. In that case, I withdraw my comment. ![]() Anyways, after seeing some screenshots on RPGamer, I can't help but wonder if Advent Children's plot is just a retelling of FFVII's story in movie form. Of course, I know very little about it, so if I'm wrong(I probably am), just let me know. On a lighter note, does anyone notice how Cloud vaguely resembles Tidus? ![]() -------------------- *END TRANSMISSION* |

The main thing about Cloud I noticed is that his looks are kind of femminent. Sephiroth too. Now that I think about it, I guess this has to be CG. It couldn't possibly be live action because even if they were cheap props, and the actors were skilled in swordsmanship, they wouldn't be able to act this out, since both Sephiroth's and Cloud's swords are extremely unbalanced. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

I did actually notice the simularities between Cloud and Tidus. I wonder if it's the same person who designed the hair.

If you go rpgamer.comyou can see three clear screenshots. These portray the characters in a different light than in the game FF7. The character in the faces of Cloud and Sephiroth show us something we've never seen before.
