If you gave Red XIII a different name, what was it? I know when he said "call me whatever you wish" it gave me thumbs up to do so when I was 10. Lol.
I named him Meteor in my first playthrough. Second and third was Red XIII. My last playthrough; Nanaki. My next one I'll call him Kimarhi or something. -------------------- |

I rotate between Red XIII, Nanaki, and Charlie (a good friend of mine, which I use in concert with other characters being named after other friends--big surprise, right?).

I used to always call him Nanaki because I watched my neighbour playing FFVII through before I bought it myself. Years later I now call him Red XIII. I like the sound of it better. In conversation I'll just call him Red.
Once I was trying to make a perfect save getting everything in the game early and doing lots of levelling up, and when it came to naming him I was in the bathroom so my friend called him Cloud to screw up the plan. It was pretty funny at the time. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

In my first playthrough (only), which i'm getting out of the Cosmo Canyon, I called him Red VII, because i was surprised the default name was XIII, and the FF was VII. Now i know i should have called him Nanaki... or Seto Jr.

I called him Red XIII, because I generally don't make new names. Also anyone think it weird that once Avalance learns his real name, Nanaki doesn't protest to them continuing to call him Red XIII? I guess it's because he already said they could call him what they please...
It's the same thing with Garnet/Dagger. -------------------- "When we think there's no hope left, we keep looking until we find some!" - Claire Farron |

Pfft. Who actually named her Dagger?
I thought it was the stupidest name ever. I just stuck with Garnet. -------------------- |

It's probably funny to name his Nanaki, and then see Cloud be surprised to find out his real name, lol.

I used all defaults during my one and only playthrough.
Thusly the name I chose was Red XIII exactly. |

I think I've mostly been going with 'Red XIII' most often than not. It just... worked. I think I did Nanaki, once, but felt that just mussed the story a touch.
It's like naming CT's Frog, Glenn, or Marle... Nadia? I think her real name's Nadia. You think you're so very clever at the time, being like, 'Haha! Take THAT game! I know what's REEEEAALLLY going on here!" and then realize it sounds stupid when you get to that point in the story's exposition. On the subject of naming, I think my favourite character name ever was my friend's CT save wherein he called Ayla 'Nacho'. No idea why he did it, nor why I was so very amused, but I thought it awesome, all the same. -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! I stuck with Red XIII. I actually kind of thought that Nanaki sounded kind of stupid. I generally don't rename my characters on the first play through. On the second sometimes I do. Which makes me want to play FFVI again and name people based on people I know now as opposed to the last time I played the game. Cool. Something to do.

Whenever I have to name things in games I always choose a theme. (which made Radiata Stories a BLUR of hatred for me). I choose themes like, Tv. Shows, other games, songs, insects, clothing brands, tech stuff
So Red has had a few names...some being Tenchi Hey Jude Subnet Msk |

I usually just call him Red. Lion or Kitty Cat are good names too. Or Scooby, as in Scooby Doo. Or Simba or Mufasa from the Lion King. -------------------- Currently playing Chrono Trigger !! Currently looking forward to Don't Know. |

I stuck with Red XIII. I always keep my characters with the name given to them in the game. I just feel weird calling them something else.
Quote Pfft. Who actually named her Dagger? Except here, where I really wanted to keep her as Garnet. But they were going for that plot thing there, and I'm all about plot so I ended up going along with it. Quote Or Simba or Mufasa from the Lion King.
