Have any of you read Oranges are Not the only Fruit? If you have, then quite simply that's the type of book I'm looking for (with or without the lesbian overtones).

For those who haven't, I'm looking for books wherein the protagonist loses his/her religious convictions (and where this loss is portrayed positively). Any ideas? Thanks.

well, i cant vouch for that subject, as i haven't read anything like that. but if you want a couple books where atheism is shown positively, you should read some of christopher hitchens's books, namely the portable atheist and god is not great

I'm not really sure of any fictional books that fit that description. If you do manage to come up with any I would certainly be interested in them. On the other hand, I do know of a non-fiction book that still fits the same description. The book is called "God's Problem". Interestingly enough, the author has a PhD in Theology, and only realized his lack of belief when he was teaching a university class on the subject of god and suffering while working on his doctoral thesis. It's really interesting to hear the point of view of someone who was that deep in the rabbit hole, so to speak.
