...which one should I start next? I haven't actually beaten any besides VII and X.
I've been thinking of either VIII (*cringe*) or V, but maybe VI. Also suggest the platform if multiple exist. The original SNES versions might be the best way to go, but I dunno... -------------------- |

If you play VIII right after VII (especially if you really liked VII) you probably will be let down. I'd save that for later. Go with VI

VI or IX. I'd play either next. Or you could start both and play the one that keeps your attention the most. IMO FFIX is the better game.
Regarding the platform, you don't want the PSX FFVI, the battles are really slow. I found it to be a nightmare just to get through a dungeon and it made playing the game a lot less enjoyable. It's a lot better on the SNES. However if you don't mind the slower speed then it's still basically the same game, with a few changes. I haven't played FFIX on the PSN but that's surely a lot easier than finding a copy in the shops. Edit I haven't played the GBA version of VI. IX.
9. Nine. All of the above. Preferably all at once. I agree with sweetdude completely, and I do think IX is the best in the series, and one of my favourite games ever. If you can get a copy of it, do so. It will not disappoint. |

I do have IX. I played through it up until I made it to a desert. Stopped playing for some reason.
My main problem was the battles. They were gorgeous, but took forever. I still have my old save, so I guess I should start it up again. And I agree- IX was the best in the series. But my loyalty to VII dates back to childhood, so it can't be my favourite. -------------------- |

I played mine on the PSX version, and I had no complaints... possibly because I had never played the SNES version, but still, it didn't seem that bad to me. While FFVIII is probably my second favorite game in the series, I just wouldn't play VII and VIII back to back. Too much future in a row. I'll go with the suggestions of FFVI and FFIX, but I'd lean towards VI personally. Not that IX isn't quite nice, of course, but VI was great in just about every way. It has a much stronger feel to it overall, IMO. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! My suggestion is to carry on playing through IX. It's so worth it.

go with:4 6 9 X and maybe tactics for psx?
BTW:i still think ff6 is the best one in the series, but its all down to opinion anyways. I'm working on ultima underworld currently. I recommend it as its fun. You might find it hard to play as its a really hard game. You also will have a hard time getting it to work as it doesn't work on new pcs as it came out in 1992. Download dosbox and see if you can get:ultima underworld and maybe at that time you can download kings quest or some other old game?. Ultima 6 gave me trouble on dosbox,i couldn't get sound and had this weird sound that annoyed me and couldn't stand it. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. If you haven't already played Tactics (heck, even if you have), you should play Tactics next.

Either IX or X. VI if you really wanna, but I can't recommend VIII.

I've played each Final Fantasy at least once.
I've beaten IV, VII, and X. Tactics is awesome, and I'm playing that now. It's hard though. xD This post has been edited by Raian the Fallen on 11th July 2010 06:59 -------------------- |

I got valkries profile, plumes of the covenant.
So far i like the mid evil style and dialogue. I also got the world ends with you and ff dissidia. I actually like firion squall and cecil's voice in this game. But the topic is about what Final Fantasy game he should play next, and you didn't really help on that score. On topic: if you're already playing Tactics, stick with it. Quote (vividesu @ 27th July 2010 21:50) You absolutely need to play 9. Honestly, with you just finishing FFVII, FFIX is probably the best way to go. Then, go over to the originals after that. If you don't have a SNES, then FFVI will probably be on the Virtual Console eventually. -------------------- |

I'd definitely recommend IX next. If you have a PS3 you can get it of of PSN for $10, which is considerably cheaper than you'd be able to find it otherwise. I'm pretty sure it also gives you the opportunity to transfer the game to your PSP (if you have one) and play it portably, which I've heard can be really convenient (I've never owned a PSP)
But, yeah, FFIX is up there as on of the best from the entire FF series. If you're coming hot off VII you're in for a pretty wildly different experience. EDIT: Dur, I didn't see that sweetdude basically told you the same thing earlier. I blame the face that he wasn't in the 10 recent posts so I couldn't see This post has been edited by FallingHeart on 28th July 2010 05:01 -------------------- "We're not tools of the government or anyone else.
