I liked grandia 2 a lot because of some of the characters themselves.

Only characters i didn't like that much were:roan and the priest girl because of the whole holy perfect image.

I did find ryudo interesting and his bird friend till he got all passionate about his brother and i found out and then i kind of found it a bit cliché.

The over sentimental speech he gave to his brother annoyed me a bit and made me roll my eyes but he redeemed himself a bit afterwards.

I love millenia the most.

She is just so funny and the whole thing of when she becomes sentimental on roan and ryudo is disgusted is pretty funny.

Just the fact that she is supposed to be evil and has a heart and is a good person is funny.

On top of that, she has the best dialog in the game.

It's a good game. The characters are less annoying than Grandia I, and the battle system is some of the best turn-based timed-attack goodness I've ever played. Very recommended. The DC version is better than the PS2 version, but mostly in framerate and sound quality. The PS2 version is at least only on one disc.

I thought that the bird was a good character too.

I liked the arguments ryudo had and fights.I didn't like Elena because she seemed too good.Elena had this air about her that was as if she was some sort of saint and spouted religious lines when casting spells. The big buy who the group gets is a good character too.I like the beast man because he is a good attacker and i like how he philosophizes.

I felt like some of the character interaction was a little bit over-exaggerated. They tended to make a big deal and a big speech a bit more than necessary, but other than that I thought it was pretty nifty too. The battle system is still pretty fun. The game overall was just a bit of a downer for me because of how much I really enjoyed the plot and characters of the first Grandia.

I thought the jokes that ryudo made at the bird's cost was kind of funny,

And i don't think its really over exaggerated, because even though he was cold,he did change and they showed a reason why.

I never played grandia 1,but i heard that it is a good game so hopefully someday i will get to play it.

Great game, and it's no joke that the battle system is ridiculously enjoyable -- I often find myself pining for it when playing ATB-by-numbers junk. Ryudo's kinda smart-alecky but the characters are all pretty enjoyable...it's just a shame there's a dearth of sidequests to fill out the downtime. =/

PS: The bird should've been playable, or at least "helped" like Ruby in Lunar 2.

now that's a good game! It's been some years since I last played it, but I remember the characters to be well developed and the battle system is so good that when I first played FFXIII I thought: Man, they should have played Grandia 2 before making this battle system...
