I know nothing about bball, as usual, so naturally I'm playing. Does Temple have any chance? Probably not, as I picked it; seems my teams tend to be bad. Go Temple!

Check the first post in the thread for a widget with stats and video for games; links should all work once the games start.

As a reminder, you have about 24 hours to get your picks in before games start. Once one game starts, ALL picks are locked, and you can make no more changes. If you have gaps in your bracket at that point, you're screwed.
If you have questions about how to make your picks, or you even want an opinion on a team or two, post or come to chat. We've been talking NCAA pretty regularly in chat, and I personally should be around for most of the late afternoon and early evening tonight, and all morning tomorrow before games begin - only an hour's worth of meetings between 8am and tipoff at noon. ![]() Edit $25 in AmaCoN money to the winner, btw. We got our 27th player in the last 24 hours or so, but I have NO idea who it is. Care to share?
Games start in under four hours now, hope you're excited. I'll be firing up my spare machine at the office to watch the streams. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I would have worked from home as well had I not missed a few hours yesterday to take the cat to the vet. I'm not worried, though, because the new Silverlight-based player should be able to pipe 720p to my monitor.

Yeah seriously that player is good. I know a couple of Americans here and a South African who are really into it, and I'm getting as many other people involved as I can too, so we're all watching the stream on my TV at 720p as well. It's going to be great!
Which games are you going to watch? I'm thinking the Brigham Young game because I picked them all the way to the quarter-finals, then definitely the Marquette v. Washington. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

As a Gator fan, I'll probably watch Florida first unless ODU can get a leg up on Notre Dame. After that, probably Murray State because it's my siblings' alma mater, though I might watch some of Richmond so I can use their CoN team nickname, the "Spider Backpacks." Might see some of UTEP depending on when I leave work, since I have them upsetting Butler, but I probably won't catch the night games unless the comedy block on NBC is repeats tonight.

Not a bad batch. 28 total players, one of whom I still don't know who it is. Of those, we've had a few failures who didn't fill in brackets (Tidu, Relm, MeHael and Olly) and one who didn't pick a champion (last year's winner, footbigmike). Best of luck to those of you who managed to do it right.

You could've just done an auto-fill with all the top seeds winning, totalling about three clicks.
On another note, go ODU! Wish I'd watched that one instead of worrying about Villanova. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

after I wrote up my bracket, I used the auto-fill feature to check my picks against the fan favorites, but then forgot to change it back

I just went with one of the auto-fills, changing only predictions for BYU since I go there now. I'm not at all anticipating a win since I've no idea what I'm doing, but we'll see.

So our last class of the day this year is called scholar hour, which is sort of a tutoring/extra help class. So I projected the Vandy-Murray State game on the board and had the students find the mean, median, and mode of the points scored during the game
Edit Also, someone needs to teach Marquette how to play help defense. That was terrible. Of the 16 games today (projecting a New Mexico win, only 20 seconds left), 7 were won by the "worse" seed. That is freaking awesome:
9 Northern Iowa 9 Wake Forest 10 Ghost Mary 11 Old Dominion 11 Washington 13 Murray State 14 Ohio Also loving that 8 of the advancing teams are from non-power conferences - All but Washington above, plus BYU and New Mexico. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? What an amazing day of basketball, as a fan. As a bracket manager, though, not so good. I think it's telling that after day one, the top two spots are held by guys from the UK, and that nobody at all is doing better than 75% accurate so far.
That being said, seriously, what a day. Murray State and Ohio's results alone are probably as interesting as everything that happened in last year's tournament. I just wish that I didn't have a two hour meeting in the heart of the afternoon games today, because I am pumped for Siena. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Ugh...great day for the upsets...but what a day for my bracket. Man, the worst part is I changed from OD to ND, BYU to FLA and from SMU to Richmond. Georgetown and Marquette just murdered my bracket completely. From this point I'm not even considering winning the CoNCAA, I'm just in it for the games now.

Well, I've already been cheesed out after two days. Best I can possibly do now is second, it looks like. Pretty entertaining tournament, but yet again it looks like just taking chalk will probably win the day unless there are big surprises.

What a game! Northern Iowa were so unimpressed by Kansas, just the way they played was like the seedings were the opposite way around.
