Hey everyone,
I'm working on making a video detailing as many of FF6's glitches and bugs (or other general unintended things in game) as possible. I have Master Zed's bug guide at my disposal:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/file/554041/34007

Which has many of the bugs there already. My question for you guys is: Is there anything NOT in that guide that you'd like to see? Or something that's not necessarily a bug that you would like to see in the video?

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions smile.gif

Master ZED's guide is so comprehensive...I'm not even sure of bugs outside of it, except this one time on a busted SNES, every time you arranged your item list it gave you like 1,000 Echo Screens...but that's not exactly something that can be replicated.

In any event, I look forward to seeing the video! Game bugs and the like I've always felt were pretty neat.

There are a bunch of bugs here that aren't in ZED's document.

Sorry for the double post, but I didn't think this merited a new thread.
I'm not sure it was possible, but I found more bugs in FF6 that I hadn't seen in either MasterZed's guide or the link posted by Bob Bree (thank you again for that, the link's added way over 50 bugs to put in the upcoming video).

First bug: Blocked Cleave has strange effects. When Cyan is muddled and executes a cleave, if any of your characters use a shield animation against it, Cyan's Cleave sounds and animations are... duplicated. I don't know if there's any other way to phrase it, but he acts like he cleaves twice and the game spazes out. This is related to the bug where if he cleaves your party, he dies in a strange spot.

Second bug: Related to when, in Cyan's Dream during the part with the Magitek Armor, you switch your lead characters around, and it places your characters into magitek armor during the cutscene. Somehow, I managed to make it so your character spirtes are constantly in magitek armor even after the dream. I'm not too sure how I triggered this. I moved the characters around a lot, then immediately switched my party in the airship. I think I might've learned rippler before entering anywhere else, but I don't believe magitek armor is a 'status' as far as I'm concerned. When I switched my lead character in the airship, she was riding a magitek armor. In combat, they're the exact same (not riding magitek armor), and they're the same sprites on the world map, but when in a town, dungeon, etc., all the characters are in magitek armor.

This bug goes away if you save/reset the game.

Still hunting down more bugs smile.gif Hopefully I'll get around to making the video(s) detailing the bugs by this weekend.

To the Magitech Armor thing: It's caused by switching your lead character in the Magitek part. I guess the game only removes the Magitek sprite from the lead character when leaving that part, and even having a non-lead character with the armor will cause you leader to appear in it. Also, Magitek is a status (there are even enemies immune to it), though field-appearance is separate from the status, as you noticed.

I'm completely aware of the lead character swapping. It's the fact it persisted outside of Doma Castle that's new. Although I don't know much about scripting, and someone that did would need to help me out here, but I think there's a chance I rippler-ed the Magitek 'status' away from my character, and when my characters re-entered a zone, the game only checked if I had the Magitek 'status' on, not the sprite event, and didn't bother attempting to remove it because of that. The end of result is all my characters are in magitek armor until I reset the game.

Unless that was already known, but nothing in MasterZed's guide referenced you could see the magitek armor sprite anytime after the cutscenes are done and over with. Sorry if I made my post a bit too confusing :s

I don't get the fascination with bugs. I understand that some are funny, and others are dangerous, but it seems to me that it like saying, "Let's take everything they did wrong and point it out."

I can't vouch for everyone else, but I know bugs don't intrigue me because they're flaws in the game. It's similar to how people enjoy outtakes from movies, maybe.

Some of them are funny, but I do enjoy that "oh crap! that's so weird" kind of thing, too. Part of it also getting to know the inner workings of the games by seeing what happens when it goes wrong, which occasionally shine a light on how scripts may work (at least to those who aren't tech savy like myself).

To be perfectly honest, flawless battle systems entertain me less than battle systems with a few (normally undetectable) kinks in them. If I remember correctly, FFX was praised for the battle system being very clean, although I must agree that FFX's battle system was a step up from both 7's and 8's (and about on par with 9 for various reasons), but thats another discussion.

It seems like it takes a lot of patience and logical thinking to find bugs, especially on this kind of scale. That one about the Floating Continent and the airship is amazing. I love how much people have learned about what's under the hood of Final Fantasy games...

I've done that glitch, and the latest point in the game I located that the plot can still be advanced without freezing everything up is rescuing Terra. Everyone excpet Terra and Locke becomes moogles that you should have at that point (and you get to see Terra comfort herself). Setzer, Shadow, Strago, Relm, Mog, Umaro and Gogo are all normal.

You can go through the Magitek Factory but the game freezes after Cid comes out and talks to you. Similar things happen when attempting to talk to Banon without Edgar/Sabin, amongst other plot advances. The forum-guide suggested you could 'advance the plot' by going to Vector, but it doesn't work unless he did something different...

Also, I would assume you could do the sealed cave scenario since you have Terra and skip Setzer, but that would require a cheat to either walk through the imperial camp or teleport directly to the sealed cave.
