(I'm new here, I think my sister has a account here. But she said she doesn't wanna come here, but I personally think it looks great. Although activity is down, I think? Anyway, Hi!)
Well, I saw the "sequel" thread and thought I should make this. Recently a announcements from SE said they were going to remake a few titles -- whether or not its FF or not FF titles, they said one of them was most asked for, so they all might be FF titles. FFVI and FFV have been the only ones not to be re-made yet. And I mean of the old games, so that's why I didn't put "VII" in there. Anyway, here is the quote of the announcement Quote . "I can just say, that indeed, whereas I'm still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and which one is terribly waited from everyone and often "REQUESTED" by fans and even of the press crew that I meet All over the World." Not much was said, but if its not a FF title, its KH3. But he said "games" with a "s" so maybe they are finally working on the remakes of V and VI? What do you guys think? -------------------- |

Do you have a link to the announcement or interview? I personally haven't heard anything of it. But that is intriguing. And what is the 3rd Birthday?

Quote (BlitzSage @ 25th January 2010 02:51) Do you have a link to the announcement or interview? I personally haven't heard anything of it. But that is intriguing. And what is the 3rd Birthday? The 3rd Birthday is the next game in the Parasite Eve universe. It's been talked about a bit in a couple news threads, I think. Without the link, agreed, I don't see any reason to think that this necessarily talks at all about a new Final Fantasy VI remake. If anything, the tone of what you quoted implies more that it would be a Final Fantasy VII remake, honestly. Is anyone still clamoring for another re-release of Final Fantasy VI? If this is a quote from Nomura, I doubt it has anything to do with Final Fantasy VI at all (I mention Nomura only due to this article that I read earlier today: http://kotaku.com/5455819/nomura-still-no-...be-cloud-cameos and because it's not clear where your information came from). Also, original poster, you should PM me what your sister's username was here. There's no reason not to get old members back here. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

It was just a short interview in the Gamega magazine.
Here is a quote taken from the site I got it from: Quote Ol’ Tetsuya’s doing what he does best again: stirring things up with foreshadowed announcements of announcements. In the most recent Gamega magazine, amid speakings of his other projects, he’s asked what he’s most looking forward to in 2010. Nomura declines to answer directly, saying that he can’t yet say the name, but it’s a yet-unannounced game that many people are currently anticipating and that he’s received personal requests about. He foresees a huge reaction to its revelation. What his team is up to is anyone’s guess, and guessing is probably just what he intended with that hint drop. Well 2010 is practically here, so let the guessing begin. Again. Yes, maybe it's the the gift of Square Enix and the major Character Designer of Final Fantasy Series (VII - Compilation Of FF VII, VIII, X and XIII's), Tetsuya Nomura. In a interview printed yesterday in the japanese Magazine Gamega, he respond to the journalist "If 2010, will the year for the announcement of the game of his dream?" "I can just say, that indeed, whereas I'm still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and which one is terribly waited from everyone and often "REQUESTED" by fans and even of the press crew that I meet All over the World." KH III, no sure, A game Very waited by fans could be a Kingdom Hearts game, but by the press, it's just NO. The only possibility is a FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, so Kawazu (Crystal Chronicles/ Ivalice Alliance / SaGa) wasn't kidding us. A FFVII Remake Announcement. Is it in preparation for NEXT E3 or TGS 2010? Here is one of the sources: N4g.com Oh, I didn't think the big announcement was VI, I knew better. But he said "games" one of those games could finally be a VI remake or maybe even a V remake. This post has been edited by MagitekElite on 26th January 2010 00:42 -------------------- |

Well, well, he said it. (thanks, btw, and welcome to the site!)
But the only problem is that he said so little there will only be anticipation. ..............You know what this will bring, don't you? Yeah, countdown clock anyone? But it does seem like a remake, obviously, since he said requested, and it sounds like VII. Because if there is anything in FF that has a lot of fans obnoxiously following it around requesting things, it's FFVII. I guess there's not enough of us FFVI fanboys around to request anything anyways. -------------------- |

Well, I forget where, but he mentioned it wasn't VII. Which leads people to believe he was talking about KH3 as the big announcement.
But the smaller ones could be the remakes of VI and V. I don't see how VII can have so much hype, it wasn't "that" good of a game. There are Zelda games that beat it out :C This post has been edited by MagitekElite on 26th January 2010 04:58 -------------------- |

This more or less confirms that FFVII will not be included in any upcoming remakes.
I am interested to see which games are being referred to though. I feel like there's a few strong candidates (knowing squenix, though, I expect to see remakes of everything at some point in time). -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Well, that's good. Hopefully they won't add him to a remake of the only two titles that haven't been remade yet. But I honestly don't see why we need Cloud added to more things.
I'm a little hopeful that some of the titles mentioned will be a VI remake and a V remake. That would be grand. So, here's hoping they won't include VII until they've remade the last, two remaining games. The chances are that they were talking about KH3 though, as the biggest announcement. We'll know this year around the gaming season. -------------------- |

I'm nervous about the idea of FF remakes now that Sakaguchi's gone...it makes me think of a new Beatles album where Ringo is the only original member.

For starters, Ringo was an amazing drummer. But I get what you're saying. Nevertheless, they've made numerous remakes and ports since Sakaguchi left. Those aren't FF titles, real ones that is. Unless you are one of those believers that believe the newer FF titles (that are repeats of FFVII over and over again) are better.
And if that's the case then, maybe I should just drop this. -------------------- |

I would be actually pretty happy if ff6 got a remake in ps3 graphics, but keeping the dialogue and attempting to make the characters dress up and hairstyle not look stupid like cecil in ff4 ds.

If VI were to be re-released with PS3 graphics, the universe would just explode from the sheer amount of awesomeness.
Can you imagine the Opera Scene with those graphics? The taking off of the Falcon? Practically anything with Kefka, especially the final Battle? My mouth practically drools at the thought. Realistically, that probably won't happen, just because of the sheer time and effort it would take to re-do everything for that system. If VI is to be re-released, I think the PSP would be the better system to handle it more than the DS. Just looking at graphics detail mainly. I've seen shots of what III and IV look like for the DS in comparision to something like Dissidia or Crisis Core, and the latter looks a little better. The effects would probably be lessened because of increased party size, but you get the idea. Of course, I did always think that VI deserved a 3D make-over more than VII deserved an update. -------------------- "Though the hours take no notice of what fate might have in store, our love come what may, will never age a day! I whole-hardheartedly agree with you! It would be nice on PSP, with Dissidia graphics or better. Maybe a remake that could go to all the systems: Playstation 2 and 3, PSP and maybe DS. That would be great! It defiantly deserves a remake more than VII. It's a lot better.
