Huhu,
just wanted to ask if any of you got shive before entering the water tower? My strategy: Blue mage -> blood suck (for self-healing) (2nd row) Black mage -> (start) Sleeping at all enemies, if one of the soldiers didn't get sleeped at the first try cast it at him only again till he is asleep. -> (battle) Portions/Fire at Shiva ONLY Monk with w. magic/w. mage -> Healing with Cure, mostly at the whole party Monk w. Build-Up -> Build-Up at SHIVA and maybe using of portions for critical moments IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE 2 CHARACTERS IN THE FRONT ROW AND 2 IN THE BACK ROW !! Shiva will then only cast ice at two characters, she will change their target lines (Row 1->Row 2-> Row 1->Row 2...) (If you put one character only in one row it is VERY unlikly he will survive one or two turns) Don't attack the soldiers, otherwise they would wake up. Focus at shiva. After shiva is gone, kill the soldiers one by one or with magic only. It took me a 2nd try, but I was able to got it. Does anyone have experience about if muting shiva is possible? (I didn't try) Eh...I just love challenges ![]() |

I've done it, even on the Expert hack. Takes a lot of patience and strategy though.
The strategy is mainly the same. I use Blue Mage, White Mage, Black Mage, and Monk (with BuildUp). Use Sleep (and Flash if you learned it at North Mountain), attack with Fire and BuildUp, heal with Cure, Vampire and an occasional Potion. I tend to take out the Commanders first, but this is very hard to do unless you have Flash. |

I used a much better strategy. I had 4 Mystic Knights, and infused Fira into the blades...I hit near 1000 per hit! Foolproof Strategy!!! If healing is a problem, then use hi-potions.(I had 4 hi-potions when I did this.) I recommend levels near 20 for this strategy.

The point of this topic is killing Shiva before completing the tower. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? I *usually* do it before, since I am there anyway and I like to go down and get Pond's Chorus/Frog Song. May as well.

Coincidentally enough, I just started playing this game (SNES version), and have beaten Shiva yesterday night, right before getting the shards of the Water Crystal.
Wanna know how? ![]() Well, my standard team (now) is: Butz - Knight Faris - Blue Mage Galuf - White Mage Reina - Black Mage ...all Jobs level 3 / 4 - ish. Then I changed my team to: Butz - Black Mage /w Cover ability Faris - White Mage /w Blue ability Galuf - Black Mage /w White ability Reina - White Mage /w Black ability ...and attacked Shiva. Immediately started casting "Frog Song" on her henchmen. Also, doing "Cure All" at virtually each turn. ![]() Whenever I got the chance, cast "Fire" on them with the characters able to do so. Only took like 2, 3 Phoenix Downs to have all characters up to earn the exp points. -------------------- |

Actually, I have killed Shiva and her soldiers in one hit. Before Walz Tower. The trick is to level up in the ship's graveyard. In the room where you find the World Map, an enemy drops a Flame Scroll (or Flame Skill), get a couple of those and chuck 'em at Shiva. It only took one for me. Have fun Space Monkeys.
Edit I didn't throw them. I used them in the items menu. But I'm gonna test this one to make double sure anyway. This post has been edited by DragonGod on 30th October 2009 19:07 |

You can't throw scrolls before visiting the Walz Tower, you know...
BTW, an easy strat would be to use Goblin Punch when your level matches hers... |

LOL I finally know how Goblin Punch works and why it does inflict in rare cases extremly high damage, hehe =D |
