The same thing happened to me on Xenogears... Let me guess, is it when you fight the two teams of gears at Babel Tower Round 2... Getting to Solaris is a pain in the butt!
Games I couldn't finish WITH OUT cheat codes... Every Sonic game ever created... Genesis' Sonics - No continues left Game Gear - battery never last until the end of ANY game Revolution X - always ran out of quarters Star Wars Arcade - Vader always kicked my ass Gran Turismo - never managed to get 100% in any GT Black Manta (NES) - A ninja side scrolling game which IMO kicked ninja ass back in the day Ninja Gaiden (NES) - Not even on the Wii with unlimited continues!!! Punch Out - Never managed to defeat Tyson nor Dream!!! -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

Dawn of War winter assault. I don't really like strategy games and winter assault was one of the hardest for me

Final Fantasy VI - Lost interest...

The one I feel the worst about has to be FFI. Yeah, I feel really lame for saying that. Been playing this game since, what? 1990? Back when I finally made a 'good run' at it in high school the battery pack in the NES cartridge was dead so it wouldn't hold a save. Tried leaving the NES on all night but by the time the morning came it was screwy. I know there's no real excuse for it now, seeing as it's on the GBA, but I haven't.

GTA: Vice City Stories.
A week trying to complete a mission called "Boomshine Blowout" Another week completing "High Wire" I sold my PSP after a week of (unsuccessfully) trying to complete "Light my Pyre". Is this game supposed to be fun? -------------------- Snooping as usual, I see? |

Jak II - Got frustrated with one mission and just felt like throwing the PS2 controller through the TV screen Ratchet and Clank Games- Got bored with them 1/2 way through.. Shadow Hearts- Got lost in the first town/ opening couldn't find Lenny.. Mickey Mouse and the castle of Illusion- Thought that being a Disney game it would be a breeze... Thought wrong. Struggled through to the last boss and only had 1 one live left and no continuities. The last boss creamed me so thought screw it.. xD Sonic 3- Had to get through this game with a cheat couldn't get passed the Carnival level because of the stupid box trap.. Road Rash 2- It was amazing at first.. and then noticed how repetitive it was.. Mario Games- They are fun.. But I suck at them >_- Mario RPG- Just... wasn't into it. Know that people really love this game but yeah.. the * Vibe * just wasn't there.. sorry guyz.. xD -------------------- Currently playing Chrono Trigger !! Currently looking forward to Don't Know. |

The game is great. The empire building is well devised and fun. The missions are not. They're way too hard.
Eventually I picked it up again and after extensive cheating, and secondary missions, I manged to make it. It felt pretty good, more of a "Thank God" than a "This is rewarding" though. But it's a game I'll never, ever replay. EVER. -------------------- Snooping as usual, I see? |

Quote (BlitzSage) Another was Star Wars: Return of the Jedi on the SNES. I'm not a good gamer anyways, but I found that game to be really hard for some reason. I seriously don't even remember getting past the second level. I completely and totally second this one! I found this game back when Gamestop still carried SNES titles and man. I can't get past the third level. When did Luke turn into such a wimp? Other games I haven't finished: * FFIV, only because I can't beat the final boss. * FFV. I have it on Playstation and on GBA. The Playstation translation is a bit off-putting, and my GBA won't hold a save. I'm going to have to get one of my friends to fix the battery or something for me. (I have shaky hands.) * The Force Unleashed for the DS. It was such a watered down version that I sold it. I made it to the final boss and couldn't beat him. This is kind of a recurring trend with me. -------------------- I figured I had paid my debt to society by paying my overdue fines at the McLennan County Library. "Oh crap!" - Bartz "Huh? Secret of Evermore.
I had it in my possession for 5 years and only played it casually. When I finally put my mind to it and decided to finish it, that very weekend my cousin took it back (it was on very long term loan, you see TMNT (the first one for NES). I played it for a few hours. Then let my little brother take a crack at it. He got so frustrated that he "Office Spaced" the cartridge. I can't blame him, honestly. I wouldn't have gone that far, but I didn't feel an ounce of loss when he wrecked it. Edit: And one that was totally my own fault - Warp Speed. I just got bored of it. I have the bad habit of buying games based on cover art. I like shiny and pretty things, I suppose.
Red Ninja End of Honor- PS2: I played this game for about 10 minutes and realized how terrible it was. I like ninjas and I like chicks I especially like hot ninja chicks, but this game makes me want to vomit and to force myself to even write this is causing a slow build up of bile in the back of my throat. Operation Darkness - 360: Great idea, crap execution. Basic turn based strategy set in WW2 using English special forces werewolves vs Nazi Zombies. I know...Like I said,, great idea, bad execution. It has the same type of battle system as Valkyria Chronicles (you know the game that Play slobbed all over and called genius?) but it came out first. I guess the terrible story line is what murders it for me. Zoids Assault- 360: I may have been drunk when I purchased this. I saw it on my game shelf last week and decided to play it. Dear lord, this steaming pile of excrement makes me want to tear my eyes out. Pacman- Arcade: i can never finish this. it just keeps going and going and going. I played this game for 17 hours straight once. Never again will I stare at little dots and hope to make sense of them. -------------------- This is a webcomic and gaming blog where I rant about nonsense. Enjoy. I was a soldier, now I just play one in video games. |

like most here i never finished FFVIII... i just had no will to.... and i got five minutes into XII and said no.... also Harvest moon DS., Sonic Chronicles for ds, Dragonball origins for the ds, tales of the world: radiant mythology for the psp... among countless others i don't recall off the top of my head)
i find it remarkably funny how most of the games i haven't been able to finish are handhelds that i can take to work and play them there (because i don't do much else....).... -------------------- ~ A Hero Is Someone Who Stands When Their Legs Are Gone~ |

I was going through all my old posts out of boredom/procrastinating studying for my two finals tomorrow, and I found this thread again.
Pokemon HeartGold. Beat the Elite Four and Lance, got all 16 badges, got to the Friendship Room in the Pokeathlon, got a Leaf Crown for my Ninetales, beat Clair and Lance in the double battle rematch with my rival, got all 16 Gym Leaders' phone numbers (save Blue), caught Ho-Oh, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo, all without using my Master Ball, got two out of five silver prints in the Battle Frontier... CAN'T. BEAT. RED. And I know why, too. I enjoy having a lot of variety in my Pokemon, so whenever I play, no matter which version, it's not uncommon for me to raise at least one dozen different Pokemon, often more. So I have HUGE variety in my mons. The obvious downside to this is that they're ALL underleveled; in my HG game, they're all around low-50s. Believe it or not, it's not the Lv. 88 (!) Pikachu that gets me; my Lanturn has Volt Absorb, so Pikachu's Volt Tackle and Thunderbolt are useless, and Water resists Steel, so Iron Tail is impractical, leaving only Quick Attack. But EVERY TIME I K.O. Pikachu, he always sends out Venusaur and slaughters my team. Unwillingness to grind, unwillingness to trek aaallllll the way up Mt. Silver again, having other games to play, and just having other things to do with my time have all added up to me not having played it for months, so I miss out on all the neat post-Red stuff (Kanto starter, Hoenn starter, battling Kyogre, trading for Steven Stone's Beldum, and what have you). I'm not bothering with the final boss of Eternal Daughter.
Maybe I will one day, just to hear the extremely awesome ending music. I'm unlikely to finish Juka because it glitched on me. A friend gave me a save that is not glitched, but I don't feel like goign all the way back through the game. But this may be because I didn't buy the real game...not like it can be found anywhere though. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. So, a long time ago (think N64 being the new thing) I played Paper Mario. Great game, always loved it. Never beat Bowser. The problem was I had to rent it from Blockbuster and I could never be assured that I'd have the same game with the same save file.
Fast forward like 8 years. My friend gave me Paper Mario, so I finally beat it. My sister had had Thousand-Year-Door (its sequel) for a while so I played that. Then I beat the final boss, but Bowser is after that, without the chance to heal. Guess what I haven't gotten around to beating? -------------------- Squenix games completed: Final Fantasy: 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, Tactics Advance 2 Chrono Trigger Dragon Quest: 7, 8, 11 Super Mario RPG |

Final Fantasy 10-2: I quit the game on chapter 5. I lost interest and there was a fiend in the Thunder Plains that I couldn't beat anyway.
Final Fantasy 12: I got really far into the game, almost to the end, but I got bored and quit for some reason. I recently just finished the other two main series FFs that I never finished - FF2 and FF3! Glad I did, they were worth it. Non-FF games that I haven't finished are Shining Force for the Genesis, Golden Sun, and The Lion King for Genesis. I've had the Lion King since I was a little kid and at the age of 22 I still think the game is too hard to beat. I always get stuck in the labyrinth level at the end of the game. |

Quote (Insegredious @ 17th December 2010 07:49) I was going through all my old posts out of boredom/procrastinating studying for my two finals tomorrow, and I found this thread again. I know exactly what you mean. I'm going to try and avoid doing so next year. I can't remember why I didn't finish FFV. I was enjoying it but something got in the way. Anyway now I don't have the game or the old save for that matter and I have no desire to start it again yet. It's a shame. I was really far and really engrossed in it. I started FFT but couldn't get far in it. I enjoy strategy games a lot, however I found Tactics to be frustratingly slow. I don't mind spending hours building a team or setting up equipment. I do have a real problem with random battles taking an unfair amount of time to finish. I mean, I'll spend 2 hours killing one particular breed of bird in FFXII to get his bow that he rarely drops. It's not that I was impatient, I just didn't think it was worth continuing. Not enough reward for the time it takes IMO. That was the first 5 hours of the game anyway for all I know it turns into a masterpiece that I'll forever miss out on. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind.
