I want to hear from you guys possible treasures that not many people may not now about, so feel free. -------------------- You Can't Escape... Nowhere to run... Nowhere to hide... |

Those are all fantastic soundtracks, but I think two of my favorite soundtracks are ones that likely nobody will agree with me on: 7th Saga 2:Mystic Ark, and Plok!
The former was never released in the US so not many have heard the music I don't think, but it has a wide range of styles, all of which are fantastically done. I highly recommend downloading the spc's and giving them a listen sometime. Or just listen to the boss battle music: amazing. Plok has a really different style too. It's a really colorful and bouncy soundtrack that is almost impossible to not like. It's just so happy-go-lucky and matches the game's theme really well even though the game itself is nigh impossible. This game is not very common AND really tough, so I don't think much of the soundtrack has been appreciated fully, but it's worth checking out. -------------------- Is PJ |

Haha that link is brilliant.
![]() I was toying with the idea of Streets of Rage or Street Fighter 2 but I decided Chrono Trigger is probably better overall. Just about every tune is either suitable for the event or good in or outside of the context. Especially a certain bit of piano in one of the tracks at the end. I found it again and had to listen to it: To Far Away Times. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

I like Terra's Theme from FF6. The piano version, not the world map one.

I always loved the esper piece of music and the cave music and the piece of the opera crystal theme song and of course the airship song. FF4 has the best pieces i've heard of the ff series for me,i loved every bit of em. gaea was very good music,it was also a excellent story. That entire trilogy had fantastic music. I forgot to mention it in my initial post but it's worth bringing up: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. As much as people hate this game for its childish difficulty, it does boast a truly amazing soundtrack with really great rock guitar. -------------------- Is PJ |

Unfortunately I think I missed something, because I don't see any list or link in the opening post.
My favorite track from the SNES years is without a doubt Corneria, and then there is always this nice Arranged Version. Of course, Star Fox is still one of those games I play every couple of weeks and never get tired of. As far as the FF series goes, I always thought VI had the best music (or III if you wanna stay true to SNES and all, whatever). I couldn't get into the music in the others outside of the game, except maybe one or two songs after they made an arranged version of them. EDIT: Oooo ooooo!!!! I almost forgot THIS classic! Someone must have removed the poll without actually telling anyone, as I thought sure there was one there earlier.
I still think that Final Fantasy IV was my favorite, though I didn't play nearly as many SNES games as most people around here probably did. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I'm going to give obligatory shout-outs to Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Castlevania 4, Mega Man X, and Chrono Trigger.

You'll have to download it in order to listen, but it will be worth it. ![]() -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

Ok, so the poll has been fixed. so VOTE VOTE VOTE!
Even though I chose Mario RPG, but there are many others that are my favorite. One that not many people have heard about is Ys 3, Wanderers from Ys. Although the game play is significantly flawed, the soundtracks makes up for this black sheep of the series. I highly recommened it, check it out! Nice, you put terranigma in there. Chrono trigger is probably the best on that list, but terranigma has a lot of great tracks. The underworld and overworld themes are excellent.

Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu has one of the greatest VG soundtracks ever IMO, and undoubtedly (at least in my opinion) the best for the SNES. I'll give a few examples later.

For me, it's Chrono Trigger, hands down. FFVI's soundtrack is also great, though.
Though it's not on the list, I'll add that I'm quite fond of Secret of Mana's soundtrack, too. -------------------- |

Of the options there, I went with Chrono Trigger. There's some good stuff up, but CT has many of my favourite gaming pieces of all time. And, as was said, many are nice out of context. I also had a really sweet acid jazz version of the theme, which really suited the musical style of the game.
Terranigma is a game I never got anywhere with, so I never knew it had a soundtrack worthy of mention. I'll have to look it up again. Also, I agree with the shout outs to DKC. DKC2 has some slick tunes. I love the one from the mines and the theme for... Kro... I forget. The giant guy that's the toll keeper. His theme is badass. -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Greg |

The boss theme in that game is one of my favorite boss themes in all of Square, up there with Parasite Eve and FF10. I think overall, though, my favorite SNES soundtrack is Chrono Trigger. They did a fantastic job of matching music with time periods and the moods therein. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? I voted for FFVI, but that only barely beat out Chrono Trigger. I feel like the Chrono games' soundtracks (and FFXII, for that matter) have a great way of reflecting the mood. FFVI does a pretty good job of that too though, and I feel like it had some more memorable tunes.
Just wanted to add that FFX has the best overall soundtrack of any game ever. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Have a listen! |
