On a tangentially related, yet somehow distinctly different note to the self-proclaimed King of Pop's death, celebrities are dying at an unprecedented rate. What's this been, like 4 in about a week? Two of these people were relatively young too.
So my question is, who's next? Brad Pitt? Danny DeVito? George Lucas? Bill Gates? The Olsen Twins? Oprah? Who knows!? At this rate, it seems nobody seems safe from this rampaging crusade of the Grim Reaper! Place your bets as to who and how here and… What's killing all the celebrities?! "People die everyday, so don't be surprised that people die. Be surprised that you're still alive."
Yeahh news flash! Death happens all of the time. I'm not surprised at all. Saddened by these sudden deaths yes, but not really all that surprised. |

Well yeah, people die every second. I know being famous doesn't make you immortal, I think everybody knows that. However, as celebrities are much rarer, the laws of statistical probability state that their deaths are much rarer too. To have a whole slew of their deaths within the course of a few days is definitely weird don't you think? To put it objectively, if last week I told you that Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon and Billy Mays were all going to be dead by Sunday, would you have believed me? I think not.
Just like I don't think you'll believe me when I say George Foreman is going to die in a street brawl with religious fanatics. It's kinda like playing Clueâ„¢ in reverse. -------------------- |

Man, at first I didn't believe all of that 2012 stuff, but now I sort of do. Iran's situation, the death of MJ, and the only infomercial guy I've ever liked. The world's going to end me thinks. -------------------- |

Anyone that believes that the Mayan baktun cycle has anything to do with the apocalypse needs to stop acting the fool. Seriously. 2012 is a number. And MJ stands for Michael Jordan.
And also, Karl Malden died today. More Academy Awards (one) than all the other recent deaths combined. And he co-starred in On the Waterfront, which is a wonderful movie. And if you want to start a death pool, why are you nominating healthy people in no danger of dying soon like Johnny Depp or Ellen Degeneres? Go with octogenarians, like Bob Barker or Betty White. Even though most of the recent celebrity deaths were younger than that, old celebrities tend to die more often than younger ones. Not to mention, BlitzSage, the insane dictator whose country has admitted to having a nuclear weapons program, is testing missiles, and is threatening a "rain of nuclear fire". And apparently a large number of this dictator's citizens want to "crush" us.
And there's also, of course, the economic meltdown. Oh, and Karl Malden died. I wasn't very familiar with him, but that's five. EDIT: Never mind, laszlow beat me to it. Oh, and Bob Barker is immortal. Don't even THINK it. This post has been edited by Reod Dai on 1st July 2009 23:28 |

But you saw the Jam video didn't you? They're both MJ man. Both are kings. Also, it's sad that Malden died. I didn't know that. On the Waterfront is a great movie (I like anything that Kazan directed). But really, a "death pool?" I don't think we should do that. Bad Juju I would've thought. -------------------- |

And I just have to say, that the date is supposed to be Dec. 21, 2012. That will be my 23rd birthday. If it doesn't end, I'll be relieved. If it does, I'll go out with a party! But to be serious, Steve McNair just died with a gunshot wound to the head. Since I'm from Tennessee, I've always been a Titans fan. And Steve was the toughest guy ever to play, and a nice man. Rest in Peace. -------------------- |

An update on Steve McNair:
The police have ruled his death a homicide. He was shot four times, twice in the chest, and twice in the head. But they are not ruling her death as anything. But, they are not looking for suspects, so it seems like she committed suicide. -------------------- |
