While many Aeris supporters believe her living would result in Cloud picking her, because of the lact of the lifestream event, Cloud and Aeris still wouldn't work. Aeris was only falling for Cloud to fill the void that Zack left after his disappearance and Cloud would eventually have to face the fact he was in Soldier and tended to base the illusion that he was mainly on Zack's life. Aeris I think would be mature enough to realise this and Cloud wouldn't take kindly to being a substitute to a dead man that a love sick girl is still in love with. Cloud would be with Aeris first realise his mistake or Aeris breaks it off when she realises her's and Tifa would pounce. Or perhaps not. My vote goes to Tifa.

This what if scenario is very interesting.

But as you can see Cloud is still fallen for her in AD, perhaps if Aeris had lived Cloud would of (at last) noticed Tifa.

Tifa for me, always has been that way for me, thats all.

Aeris lives; Holy does not get summoned because Aeris cannot do her mumbo jumbo in the lifestream (at least, that's what I think based on the sketchy plot); Meteor hits; everybody dies

He would've chosen Tifa btw.

Cloud, being emotionally constipated would choose neither. Just cause he had "issues", and both had a crush on him does not mean he doesn't choose any of them. I remember Cloud and Aeris liked each other when they met, I think Cloud would have been with Aeris. However, I doubt he would be with anyone in the first place just cause of his weird past.

i voted aeris, though everyone has a valid point, imo, which is why there is lots of fanfics - it all works
i'd like to say that i dont think cloud would really have chosen anyone - notice that he never really wants anyone around, and hes always silent around the girls - it would've taken meteor crashing on top of his spiky head to make him choose, and aeris took that choice away :-P

so, to sum up - aeris lives, somehow meteor and sephy go away - cloud runs for the hills and becomes the crazy spiky haired materia sage who never gives any information whatsoever, because he chases everyone away with his giant sword

Cloud is Cloud and i voted other cuz frankly if he wanted... he could have them both... add a little more effort on his part and he could have Yuffie too... hes just that Godly

I say Aeris. Definitely Aeris.

I mean yeah, I know Cloud had a very obvious crush on Tifa when they were young, but the two key words there are 'crush' and 'young'.

You grow up, you change, feelings change....and what Cloud felt for Aeris, even AFTER he got his true memories back, was very obviously true love. Not a simple crush. And I believe, by AC, Tifa realizes even if Cloud DOES move on, what he felt for her was just a childhood crush, nothing more.

As for Aeris, I note a lot of people saying that she only liked Cloud because he was like Zack. I have THREE points to refute that. One, during the date sequence. Aeris says to Cloud: "I want to meet you." and "I want to meet..... you." which probably means she knew FULL WELL that Cloud had Zack's memories instead of his own. AND also, if she wanted to meet the real him, it means she still felt something for Cloud himself. Two, in AC, Aeris didn't have to help Cloud. She was with Zack, she didn't need to help him. But the fact that she did all that for him EVEN THOUGH she was with Zack again shows she did love him. Three...well, I'm gonna spoiler this just in case, but

in one of the novels, the one written in Aeris's point of view, she says, DIRECT QUOTE here: "she loved him much more than her first love...she wanted to stay by his side forever if she could." So yeah.

very good points on the childhood crush thing... that was probably one of my more favorite perspectives although it is common in japanese culture to be promised to someone even as a child which might add something a little bigger to that relationship if Cloud and Tifa had that thing going on...

Aerith wanted to meet the real him, the real Cloud. Think she was only curious on why Cloud was acting so much like the person she once knew.

While Tifa as a child took Cloud's feelings for her something for granted and didn't really start flirting with him until Cloud tells Tifa that he's leaving his hometown to become like his hero and become a Soldier to be like Sephiroth.

Tifa's feelings for Cloud is kind of like you only want something when you don't have it and is based on fuzzed memories that she can hardly remember.

Tifa probably would of been the one to solve the clugged up memories of Cloud's past, since she knew Cloud's past more than Aerith did but as we see in FF VII that doesn't really make a slight difference between the relationships.

But Aerith desired to know the true Cloud, while it seemed like Tifa wanted the screwed up Cloud because she wanted the past to stay hidden.

In AC though Tifa seems like more of a helping Mother type rather than a longing girlfriend to be by his side [ really-dislike Advent Children ]

But whenever Aerith and Cloud are around something is there. It seems like Cloud and Aerith connect more, and Aerith sees true Cloud from the life stream she still loves him, cares for him, and still helps him through his pain.

Going to say Aerith.

Cloud did long for Tifa in the past but Tifa ignored him too much when she had the chance to be by his side. Though Tifa is a cool character though [ better than Aerith ] but for some reason, just can't see her with Cloud, but rather schizo with the Aerith x Cloud / Tifa x Cloud fan- shipping so tomorrow would probably prefer him with Tifa and can't stand him with Aerith.

Well I found in obvious who the main love interest was, and wether Aerith lived or died never can, would, or will, change that, as seen in any and all AU apperances.

As important as she was to the story, Aerith isn't in Clouds heart.

That's a place dominated soley by Miss Lockhart. The childhood friend, the sweetheart, the 'koibito' and the girl whom raises a family with him and knows him 'all to well' that he secretly loved in CC, and still does throughout the compilation.

Tifa Lockhart wins by a landside, administrated by SE staff and productions, Ultimania's Dismantled, ACC, turbulance and Remnessiance of FF7.

The Canon was established long before Aerith's death, and previals wether she lives or dies, she is only a minor plot device.

i'd say aerith.
Tifa and cloud weren't really FRIENDS when they were kids ( when their in the lifestream ) YES, cloud had a crush on her. but nothing more. tifa was always with the other kids. cloud was the outsidder. so.. the fact that they are "childhood friends" ( they're NOT ) doesnt affect the present.
also. the real cloud, is shy and cares about everyone. he blames himself when something goes wrong, and is really protective. tifa.. is like. WILD and wanna-party like. or so.. I see her that way. Aerith, in the other hand, is more like cloud, shy, innocent, caring. idk.
and Aerith LOVED cloud, and not because he looked like Zack ( in fact, he did ) She even said it in some part of the game. Cloud and Aerith were mean for each other since they meet in midgar. the plot put them as a couple. Cloud cares more about Aerith. and oh well.. everyone knows how he handle when aerith dies. if he had only like as a friend. like everyone else. he wouldnt have been THAT depressed in AC. but that's probably Cloud's personality.
anyways. Tifa and cloud can be together. i totally aprove that. but.. If aerith havent died or die and come to life again ( that would have been awasome ) Cloud and Aerith would have been together. 100% sure about that.

Tifa and Cloud were meant to be together, half of the story is about the two of them through various points in time. Aeris appealed to the Zack-fake personae in Cloud, she knew it, and eventually he would have too.

I totally disagree. Aerith and Cloud were meant to be together, it's *heavily* implied. Tifa just loves Cloud enough to stick around.

I'm surprised that no-one has really taken into account the fact that you get to choose what Cloud's feelings towards characters are at times. Someone mentioned the Aeris date scene and something she said, but its a moot point because that scene didn't happen when I played. My Cloud always goes on the date with Tifa. In some people's games, he goes on a date with Barret or Yuffie, does that mean they belong on this poll? Not at all.

Some people are saying that Tifa and Cloud were not childhood friends. They were friends, Cloud just wasn't part of Tifa's clique of friends. I've had close friends that I could hang out with one-on-one but didn't hang out with when they were with their other friends.

Does Cloud ever say he likes Aeris romantically? I don't believe he does (maybe in some of the variable statements early in the game, again, mine doesn't). She dies and he feels guilty because (let's face it) he nearly cut her in half himself, and couldn't save her when he was supposed to be her bodyguard. This guilt, I think, makes it really hard for Cloud to act on any feelings he may have had for Tifa (which I believe do exist, but I'm not going to be so bold as to claim them as fact).

I guess I'll wrap this up since this post is already TLDR material. I think that Aeris being more forward with Cloud does not mean they belong together and that Tifa being more restrained with her feelings has more to do with their crazy history rather than her not having feelings for him. If Aeris had not died, I think Cloud would actually have been more likely to get together with Tifa (as opposed to becoming the guilt-stricken loner he in in AC).

lmao my vote tipped the scales. I usually vote Cloti, but i guess in alternate reality final fantasy world anything could happen, hence the Aeris vote.
I voted Aeris mainly coz she was more assertive and would probably force the relationship a little more than Tifa would have (coz she's a shy one)
