I've heard so too myself, my neighbors upstairs were talking about it and when my mother called around to inform people, seems others have heard so as well. In fact I think I've been beaten to the post, so to speak. I'm shocked honestly, he wasn't that old.
Quote ("Turuk") Quote ("Tonepoet") Is this true or is this somebody's idea of a joke? My only concern on this is that all the "articles" about his death all quote the same source, TMZ. Still, it looks fairly legit. From another forum I'm going to. This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 25th June 2009 23:01 -------------------- |

I'm so sorry for that guy and his family. He was good at what he did, indeed. Rest in peace.

Yeah, it's quite the shock to be honest. I'm really sad to see it, and it almost seems surreal.
I wonder what caused his heart problems? He didn't seem to take any drugs, or have alcohol problems, so 50 seems early. -------------------- You're telling me that there's no hope. I'm telling you you're wrong. |

How tragic. Not only his death, but the other things that happened in his life. His childhood, all the media and trials. But at least his music lives one.
I was never a person that mixed his personal life with his music and talent. I just hope that others can do that too, and just honor what was good. -------------------- |

Taken from my facebook status:
"Apparently Michael Jackson's heart just couldn't BEAT IT. Did no one see Thriller? Zombies can't re-die." All jokes aside (because I lack most sense of sensitivity), everyone dies. I don't like when celebrities receive absurd coverage, alive or dead. Of course, he'll always be remembered for the large and expansive body of work he left behind and his influence on the music industry. Quote (Dragon_Fire @ 26th June 2009 01:55) All jokes aside (because I lack most sense of sensitivity), it's always a shame to see someone as iconic as MJ was die, but let's face it, everyone dies. I don't like when celebrities receive absurd coverage, alive or dead. Well I would agree to some point. God knows I dislike the media too. But MJ's music is so important to so many people, you know? And plus, his life is so tragic. I don't believe he did anything. He seemed like such a gentle person, I don't think he would've hurt anyone. -------------------- |

Normally I don't care when celebrities die, they're mortals just like everybody else. The only other time I remember particularly caring was when Mr. Rogers died, god bless the man. The thing about Michael Jackson though was that like 50 though, a little young for the grim reaper to be knocking on the door. He was still at the forefront of people's minds, he was still performing like he was his entire life and he even had a world tour upcoming. It kinda caught me by surprise and I bet it shocked a lot of other people too.
In fact… I bet he didn't die of a heart attack like everybody was saying though. It must've been a conspiracy,by sega! All joking aside though, let's give him one last round of applause. I feel this little ditty should be appropriate for CoN. In fact, most of you probably saw it before, but let's view it one more time. You know, it normally doesn't bother me when musicians or celebrities die. It is a common occurrence, but the death of Michael Jackson really struck me hard. I've been dancing since childhood, and I don't mean club/bump&grind dancing, but real dancing. Michael Jackson was originally my greatest inspiration. He was the reason my interest in it became so great. His music was great too, and I don't think anyone in our life time will make quite the impression that MJ did on the music world.. A girl on my Myspace friend list put up a bulletin saying it wasn't a big deal and it's not like anyone listened to his music every day anyway. I couldn't help but think, "are you for real?!" I have his discography and listen to his music all the time! A friend and I were making plans to find a way to catch one show in his final tour, because we never got to see him live. Now, I can never see him live.
I didn't know Michael Jackson personally, but he made an impact on my life and the way I view music, and to me he will always be one of the greatest dancers who ever lived. So, may Michael Jackson RIP. I expect to see one of the largest funeral turnouts in history in the next few days. Didn't affect me cause In a odd sense I use to think the Sonic three game had music similar to MJ's. No, the thing that bugged me was what the guy Ben2k9 (or wuv his name) said. Someone else ont hat page said the samething. Just a little too weird for my tastes that MJ dies the same year that that guys username was. Coincidence? You be the judge. Anyways yeah too bad he's gone. Personally I didn't really like the guy, some good songs, but overall Nah. However, it is sad he's passed on. As much I don't care for the pop genre, I do enjoy Michael Jackson's music, and he was one of a kind. It's sad to see an unique person go at a young age...

Well, he made it to 50, that's not such a bad innings.
I finished my exams last night so we were having the first of our celebrations the same night. On the way home there was somebody who put a sign on their window saying 'RIP Michael Jackson'. So, yeah, that's where I was when I found out MJ died. I joked that he's not a man, he's an idea. Looking back thought that's not really untrue. He's was weird but totally harmless. The accusations of paedophilia just seemed to be typical misunderstandings of strange people like him. For me his legacy will be that even the weirdest buggers can have a lot to contribute. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. It's ironic that he and Farrah Fawcett departed this world at nearly the same time since every little boy wanted Farrah and Michael Jackson wanted every little boy.
In all seriousness, though, MJ was an amazing musician and regardless of how I, or anyone else, feels about his personal life, 50 is far too young to go. It's tragic to die so young. Has anyone heard what will happen to his kids? |

I saw an interview last night that said the kids are basically in legal limbo. They're with the grandparents for now but they're pretty much up for grabs by anybody who wants them, unless something is said in Michael's will. It seems they had a godfather in the U.K. who'd be willing to care for them if nobody else would, at the least.

I wasn't sure if she were still alive or not. If she is, I think she automatically resumes guardianship over the children.

He had an amazing voice, quite possibly the greatest entertainer of all times, if not then with out a doubt top 3 greatest ever, one of the most electrifying performers of the past milenium and one that no one will even come close to rival in this generation or the next one, the king of music videos, the man who made MTV and VH1... the King of Pop Mr. Michael Jackson, thank you for all the memories and all the good times, I will never forget how he made it easy for everyone to just forget about all their problems and just have a hell of a good time when he got on stage. That was his life since he was a kid, there was nothing else Michael Jackson knew how to do, and I always, even though it wasn't the thing a "normal" person would do, could have ever imagine Michael ever doing anything to those kids with the intention to hurt, but we all know that he should have never done that. Maybe Michael was never aware or had an idea of what he was doing was not okay, it was not wrong as in evil, it just didn't look or sound right. To me Michael was highly misunderstood and I think no one in the world will ever really know who Michael Jackson really was. All that I know is that he left behind a legacy worthy of "Greatest Man Ever to Live in History" consideration, yeah he was that great, and all we can do for him now is just let him rest in peace... R.I.P. Michael, keep on rockin' the heavens!!!

We're all mourning in some way. If you hated him, you'll not have the jokes anymore. And, if you loved him (the other 99% of humanity), then you'll miss the music and the performaces. Okay, I'll admit, I made jokes about him. Yeah I'm guilty, but this is true: I never believed one allegation. He was a gentle person, even though he had problems, and there were many tragedies in his life. But I believed him when he said he would never had hurt those boys. -------------------- |

Just because he was void of a child hood does not make him a child molester.. I don't believe any of that for a second.. it all smells fishy to me. Michael had problems, but to me, it seemed like he just had trouble growing up and wanted to be surrounded with toys and kids, because he never had a childhood of his own. Anyway, most of the people that are running around calling him names and saying he "touched little boys" are the same people who still think he bleached his skin because he wanted to become white, and have no idea that he had vitiligo. "Let's all jump on the band wagon and trash talk the dead guy!" That's true. Unlike the other four members of the Jackson Five, Michael was the one that was pushed everyday to be the star that Joe Jackson never was. I heard once that they (Joe and his brothers) hired a prostitute to "pop his cherry," and they locked him in the room with her. But he wasn't interested. You think that could've traumatized him just a little? I do. Many people say that his father abused him, but what about his mother? She was a Jehovah's witness, so while his father and brothers were taking him into nightclubs and hiring prostitutes, his mother was preaching that sex was wrong. And this all played out while he was under the spotlight, which is much brighter and hotter than any of us can imagine. What I am trying to say is, maybe we shouldn't judge him so harshly. He did have problems, that's true, but they're not all his fault. But were are not honoring those aspects of his life, but the parts that are good; his music, his kindness; those things should be treasured. -------------------- |

Lets not forget that once he was in debt, he exploited his fame to get even MORE loans, falling DEEPER in debt. How many banks would throw money at me after years of not paying them?
As far as the allegations, if you don't want that stigma, DON'T DO IT. The Detroit Free Press has a great opinion article on him, but this is the best snippet: "But the whitewash of opinion being spouted by the public outdoes anything Jackson ever tried to do to his looks. Four days ago -- when he was still alive -- Jackson was perceived as a desperate, grotesque, off-the-radar, once-great performer turned weird, pathetic, possibly criminal and unable to sell records the way he did. A day later, he was a world-healer, a joy-spreader, a one-of-a-kind man of magic." -------------------- And have you found your joy, in this near dead world of ours? |
