I think we've already got something incredibly like this. Least favourite charactor or something. Moderator?

It fits. Least favorite character doesn't necessarily mean the one that the game could do without. You could strongly dislike a character, but they may be integral to the plot.

Vincent. His angst-filled side story adds nothing to the game for me.

What about Cait Sith's big pink Marshmellow friend? I know a lot about the game, even though I've never played it, so does the Pink Marshmellow have anything to do with the plot line????

besides that: barret would have to be my vote...north corel could have easily been covered still even without his story.... same with Gold Saucer...they could have based Dean on someonhe else and had the same effect.... and in Midgar... hes totally worthless
in AC too... he does nothing "Im gonna shoot at a Bahamut!!!" -EPIC FAIL all he did was piss it off i understand how you might not like Vincent but c'mon hes awesome. why would you vote him? and im sorry anyone who voted Cloud isnt human.... |

Actually, any vote for Vincent or Yuffie is valid, since you can beat the whole game without even meeting them. And no Cloud, although it would mean a hell-lot of plot shifting (Nibelheim flashback by Tifa, no Zack/Cloud plot-twist) it would also mean less moping from the sad, worthless, blonde wreck. i was considering a null vote because youre right painreaver... everyone did add some kind of element of their own kind to the game but barret is still virtually worthless... he does add the token Mr. T moments in the game though... those were occasionally funny... if you could read what the majority of it said

While I hate Cait (hey, that rhymes!), he ends up being fairly important, for reasons already described. So I decided to go with Yuffie. She's annoying (did anyone else want to KILL her?) I can't choose any because they're so familiar to me. Null vote I'm afraid.
At a push, I'd say Tifa, because maybe a better character could've gone in her place. Tifa and Aeris are a little bit too alike in personality. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

First off, I don't see how anyone could have voted for Aerith.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Her death was crucial to the story. If she hadn't died, the game wouldn't have the following it does today. In many cases, it was her death that had all the fan boy types awaiting a way to bring her back or waiting on a sequel in which they hoped she would make a return from the dead. I honestly don't think that the game would have gotten have the following it did had she not died. That being said, I voted Yuffie. As much as I never used Cait Sith, and as useless as I thought he was, he still plays an important part in the story. Possible spoilers: highlight to view If I remember right, Reeve was the controller of Cait Sith, and Reeve is a crucial character in Dirge of Cerberus -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

Yuffie is without a doubt, factually the most inconsequential party member in the game.

I don't like FF7's cast so much, except for Cloud, Tifa, Cid, Red XIII, & maybe Aeris.
Otherwise, I couldn't find the ONE character that this game would've done so much better without. Yuffie is an annoying and terribly unfunny child who just gets on my nerves with her immaturity. Cait Sith only fits as a cartoony cheerleader, but to which isn't needed because Cloud can just cheer himself up by staring into Tifa's morbidly huge breasts anyway. Vincent has nothing in common with the game at all. Barret is the exact alter ego of Mr. T, and also reading his dialogues is like reading trashed rap lyrics the translators decided to slap into the game. However, regardless of the crappy characters, I still enjoy FF7 to this day. A fairly good game, not the best, and not the worst, not even mediocre.. ~AngelWitch666~ -------------------- I've been locked away for all these years Now I can see the light of day Things have changed a lot since I was last out here I guess that's the way things, way things go |

You know want to say Sephiroth badly [ 100% per cent badly ]
But guess Yuffie ? You don't really need a annoying kleptomaniac to explain to the gamer that there was a war in Wutai a few years ago [ and that some villagers of Wutai are holding a grudge ] just have a random NPC to explain everything about the war and the town's past. Or just have have Yuffie as a annoying random enemy that you can fight and kill. Yes, Vincent could just as easily be removed from the story without doing any harm; however, Vincent's back-story touches upon other characters involved in the main action. So, definitely Yuffie. |

I loved all the FF7 characters, and its kinda hard to pin one that i don't like so I gave it a null vote.
Some may say that Yuffie is the least needed character, but I actually think she was very necessary to show the results of the war Shinra had in the past and to connect Shinra's very important past to the current story line. Yuffie also gives you more reason to hate Shinra. Besides all that, she uses a range weapon, which I love. Admittedly she can be easily left out of the game, but being me I just love to hear sad stories like her's about crushed national hopes and dreams...kinda reminds me of Japan post-WW2... And Cait Sith, everybody hates that guy don't they? Well, he was rather important, being a spy and all, you never would have found out about the huge materia without him. A lot of what happened in the story was because he gave away secrets to Cloud and the rest. I doubt they would have ever went back to Midgar if it weren't for Cait Sith, and in that case the city would have been blown apart (or something) by Hojo. I can't imagine how our party would have found out all this extremely useful info without Cait Sith, unless we use telepathy or something? One character I am surprised nobody really mentioned is Cid. FF7 could easily go without him. Cloud and Co. could have easily have just stolen the Tiny Bronco from a Shinra airport near the rocket, then just steal the rocket later on in the same way. And the Highwind...I think its just his personality, and the wonderful theme music of his, that gets players to love him. And, consequently, can't imagine him not being in the game. That all being said, Cid and Yuffie are easily the least important characters to the story line, and we could easily go without them. Vincent does play a semi-important role in opening up more to the Sephiroth mystery, but as you can easily play the game without him, he is also a bit unnecessary. Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, (regretably) Cait Sith, and perhaps Nanaki (Red XIII) are the only real story characters that are absolutely needed. Barret could be done without, if he had died in when the sector 7 Pillar collapsed there would have been no real repercussions to story line. Nanaki was important mostly for his connection to Bugenhagen, who was able to tell of Holy and what Aeris was attempting to do. He also gave insight to how the planet and its energies work, along with a place to stash the huge materia. So if we are able to befriend Bugenhagen in a different way, then I see no real reason why Red is needed. Tifa was important to getting Cloud back on our side, if it weren't for Tifa then Cloud would never have ad the ability to stay on our team after having given the lack Materia to Sephiroth. Remember, he was just a puppet. I think I covered just about everything...I'm not even going to talk about Aeris or Cloud, if you don't know why they were important then you are obviously a bit too blind or you have not played the game. Honestly though, I loved all the characters, their personalities and individual stories, and can't imagine the game without them all. |

I've never played the game, but Yuffie and Vincent seems the least relevant to the plot.
If I could, though, I would've taken out Cloud. |

Well, story-wise Red XIII has the loosest connection IMHO. Or maybe Yuffie.
As far as design goes, Cait Sith. When they remake this, I really hope they think long and hard about whether or not to change some stuff about him. EDIT: I actually really like using Yuffie in my party, because she has strong limits, good magi stats, and a great ultimate weapon. Vincent actually adds a nice subplot to the story, although his limits are terrible IMHO and his ultimate weapon is finnicky. Barrett is pretty important to the story IMHO. Yuffie makes everyone mad when she steals your materia, and shes not connected to the story a great amount. Just a useless side character, that I personally could do without.
