if anyone remembers and was disappointed by the addition of "ribbon" and the ability to fight the dark aeons AND the "eternal calm" video added to ff-x2 international version only, well, you're about to be disappointed again.
ff-x2 international will include, among other perks, new missions, yet another bonus ending movie that we don't get, and at least one new job class. ok, square, this is getting ridiculous. to add an armor ability many hardcore ffx us/japan players would have killed for is one thing, but to add totally new job classes? what the hell? yeah, i hear the argument that pal players should get some sort of reward for having to wait longer, but what reward do US players get for having to wait longer for their version? a deleted scene? i already pay your frucking company TWICE each final fantasy game, i'm NOT going to import it from pal, too. now, my ffx-2, like my ffx, iwll always seem incomplete to me. feel free to rant along with me. in other news, sce, which is not a bastard company like square ( ![]() |

Wow. I knew they'd done that with Final Fantasy X, but I had no idea they were going to be jerks about FFX-2, too. Another reason not to buy it...

FF10 wasn't that great of a game too me honestly, but I can understand why it makes you mad.

I'm happy about Wild Arms getting redone, that was the first game I got for my PS. Most didn't like the graphics, but I thought they were...well cute.

It's just a game, so what if the Japanese get more of it then we do? We still get to play it :-) I agree that it'd be nicer if it had everything, but I'm not going to lose sleep over a missing job class and a few scenes.
I personally can't wait until FFX-2 comes out, and I loved FFX. But that's just me. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

In my opinion, the more job classes: the better. So what's up with square being stingy?
I guess I could hope that they'll be pointless job classes, but I wouldn't bet on it. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

Quote (Michael Cook @ 23rd September 2003 15:40) Okay okay the international version means U.S.& sometimes europe Um...No. There are three versions for every video game: Japan, North America, and International (which basically means Europe). Quote so its only fair that we get a useless peice of armour and a few minute long video, isnt it? not in the least. the american gaming market is much larger and gives square more money than the japanese and european markets combined. it wouldn't make sense to stiff your largest customer base, but apparently square doesn't agree...regardless, the fact remains that america undoubtedly has the largest number of hardcore players. and even the hardcore players in japan can access all the bonus international content if they want to shell out some more money, because the international versions are re-released in japan. it simply doesn't make sense to stiff the americans, who still have to wait a period of time for the game to be released statside. Are video games going anime on us? I don't think one tiny bath scene that is bound to have nothing to do with the story is something to be bothered over. Are you going off-topic on us?
It is not always the case that there's a Japanese, US and "International" release, by the way, at least, not with significant changes. It's extremely rare that the Euro release of a game gets any changes at all. The first game I saw that did was FF9, which was mysteriously translated into UK English. I was most pleased. (Even UK made games tend to get released in US English here.) But for the most part, European releases have just been the same thing, but slowed down by about 17% and squished between large black borders because of the better TV system noone could be bothered to fix things for, with some extra language selection thing stuffed in. Things have improved somewhat, though. The last game for which I remember there being a lot of fuss about international versions (I'm not saying it's the only one, but I don't keep up with gaming news a lot) was FF7 International, which was the US AND worldwide release (except for various translations, etc., nothing else was added) and was likewise rereleased in Japan. The argument from Europeans has long been that the market might be bigger if they weren't shafted by games companies every other day (particularly Nintendo, but that's another story). We didn't even get FF4 and FF6 in any form until 2002, which is a little disgusting. I agree that it's particularly nonsensical to exclude additions from a North American release, but the excuse I read was that it was already almost finalised, and they want to get the thing out onto shelves, which I can understand. I don't see why they couldn't make a North American rerelease with new stuff, though, or a magical add-on disc. |
