So “The Complete” finally arrived at my doorstep *is happy*. However much to my dismay I can't find anything that looks like a timeline or anything that resembles Figaro's backstory.+ Granted, I don't know Japanese, but the book is full and I mean full of pictures, in-game pictures. In fact the book is a visual walkthrough.

And to not make this topic a total waste, here's how The Complete manages the WOR events or “After breakdown the world” as the book calls it. On a side note, the guide uses Celes as the avatar for all the WOR.

Gau's father- Wait, when did we get Gau?

Personally I go more or less with this order, just that I get Mog and Umaro way earlier and do Cyan's dream latter. Oh and I get Gau before Relm and do the dress-up sequence until I have the complete party... Wait, where's Gogo?

All I can remember is that I got Sabin before getting both of the other two necessary characters (I think before either of them, as well, so I had only Celes to use in Sabin's sidequest), and that I got Umaro before Gogo. And of course, necessarily Mog before Umaro.

And I think I got everyone before getting the two of them. Except possibly Locke, since he has arguably the most complicated sidequest.

I always get everyone before Umaro and Locke. I do agree about Locke's quest though.

I played through WOR almost exactly as the guide on this site told me to . Except I did Kefka's Tower a lot later because it's hard as hell, and I needed Moogle Charm and to learn Fire 3/Bolt 3/Ice 3 etc.

Yeah, Phoenix Cave is such a pain that I like to leave Locke until the end, but then I think about all those battles I'm missing that could serve to uncurse certain shield that I end up getting him as soon as I have enough characters.

I like to do my first run on every game without looking at a guide. Consecutive plays I do look for one and try to get everything I missed on my first run. That cost me Shadow and the Moogle Charm, it was so much fun getting to Magic Master and eat an Ultima without it.

I'd second that opinion. Except that I only use the Moogle Charm in the Fanatics' Tower. I generally prefer that my characters have around the same experience level as each other, so especially for long extended dungeons, I want them to fight about the same amount of monsters.

(My characters were levels 45-51 when I beat the game.)

I do agree, Mog is pretty invaluable only for that charm. But honestly, his special ability kind of flukes out a lot, and I don't like Umaro's unreliability. If everyone but him is dead or petrified, you'd better hope he can make it through the battle- probable, but sucks if you needed the EX or Magic points.

Has characters bios, the basic stuff: weight, height, likes and dislikes, blood type, etc. It also includes a list of abilities when it applies, like rages or lores. Besides the main characters there is also info for Banon, Leo, Kefka, Gestahl, Cid and our dear pal the Train Ghost. From here comes the info that Kefka likes to play with dolls. Sample

But it's mostly a complete visual walktrhough.

The easiest way to break the curse on the shield is to go back to the island that Celes starts on, and fire up a second system on a different tv. Or call people over and party with one hand on the controller.

They really need to release a copy of that in English. Hardcover would be fantastic. I'd pay $50-$75 for it easy.

Nop, don't know Japanese, I'm just a “setting-obsessed fan” =P
But here's the Pic if you're interested, Banon, Leo and Kefka included.

What?!, no age or blood type for the Ghost?, that's disappointing. Oh, but look!, there's two of those circles that I think are charts of each character stats. So if my assumptions are correct, one ghost sucks more than the other...Nah, I truly don't know, but it would be interesting to compare their stats to see If I'm not too off.

Considering it's a book from before you were born (darn I feel old), it's more likely to find it used than not. I use Amazon Japan, but you can find some on E-bay too. The books aren't expensive, there are ones that go for 1yen, the problem are the shipping costs.

There's no English version, or at least I don't know if the American game guides contain the same info.

You could just print out Djibriel's whole walkthrough and then tape the papers of his text over wherever there is Japanese writing.

I'm sure his info is more complete than that book.

And from where do you think Djibriel got his character background info from? I agree, his guide is awesome, but some of the data in the book is nowhere found within the game. Some of this extra tidbits come from this kind of books or the V-Jump magazines.

It's not that easy, like I said, it's a visual walktrhough, meaning you have maps of all the places with coordinates , pointing go from Ax-1 to Ba-2, here you find a treasure, something like that. And as far as I can tell the book is extremely “complete” (lulz).

This topic has come up many times before, in fact I believe that I have started one once before. The book isn't in English at all, which confounds me why they wouldn't have translated it into English as well. I'm sure they could've made quite a lot of money off of that. But oh well, the pictures are neat.

In Japan, blood types are apparently a (superstitious/informal/whatever you call it) determinator of personality.

I don't know why. I think they're a relatively recent and scientific discovery, so I don't know how that got into a culture's lore, but...it's there.

(Also, you can edit how much of a person's post you quote, y'know.)
