Quote (BlitzSage @ 11th April 2009 14:37) Quote (Sephiroth @ 8th April 2009 00:50) It's funny how conversations like this always come down to "who ripped off who." I really don't think there is much we can do to tell if one ripped the other off. As far as the other villains being more manly than Kefka, yeah, maybe he isn't the most masculine of baddies, but I don't think it's accurate to say that most of the other villains are masculine. There have been quite a few characters in the FF universe that seem a bit girly. I think the important thing here is that Kefka was a great Villain, and the Joker and Kefka (IMO) have nothing to do with each other. Maybe masculine was the wrong word to use. Toughness was what I was going for. Villains like Sephiroth are powerful villains that use their might to defeat the protagonists. Kefka, however, is a cerebral villain, that uses his intelligence as his greatest weapon. Even when he gains power, look at what he does: he uses the Light of Judgement to demoralize the people. Ahh, I gotcha. Psychological "I'll destroy your moral psycho" Vs. Physical "I'll just burn your house down" psycho. I just thought we were referring to physical appearance. -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

Yeah, almost all other FF villains use their physical power to defeat opponents. That, to me, is the norm. Kefka breaks the norm, and IMO creates a more effective antagonist. -------------------- |

Quote (Dragon_Fire @ 29th July 2008 00:37) It's not uncommon for Japanese-designed characters, particularly boyish males to be depicted in a fashion that is overly feminine. I forget what the actual term for that style is, but it seems to have had a lasting effect on the way young men are designed to look. It's no different from recent games, if you look at the facial designs of Tidus, Vaan and others. Actually, Amano's style tends to make characters androgynous in terms of gender if you only see their faces. The term is bishounen and Kefka (almost anyone drawn by Amano really) certainly fits the bill. So, yes, Kefka has some 'feminine' qualities, but he also has masculine qualities, and is very much a male character. I like to imagine Kefka being very much aware of said qualities and using them to his advantage, distracting and setting his rivals off their games, then swooping in for the kill. I think that is exactly what Kefka does. That might even be why he dresses like that in the first place. -------------------- |

That's just one style of anime, but alot of it does have a feminine look to it, at least from an American perspective. -------------------- |

Yeah, pretty much. I just argue that it is just Japanese art style that they made the choices they did. But they just turned out to serve the story well (making him look rather insane). -------------------- |

I don't think that the art style is what makes him look girly. I mean, Cyan is drawn in the same style and he doesn't look like a woman and neither does Sabin nor Strago, you could make a case for the others though... *Remembers paladin Cecil art*, you know what, forget what I said.
Remember Ultimecia and Adel?, they also wear paint (or what appears to be paint,or tatoos), so maybe is a sorcerer/ess thing? But I think I will mantian the “Kefka is just crazy†posture. -------------------- "Love, and do what you will" Saint Augustine |

He wears make-up and clown clothes so that people will underestimate him.A bit like mog. You think "Awww it's so cute and fluffy!" but then he dances and you turn into a pile of dust. Same thing with Kefka except he uses light of judge ment instead of Dances.
Also more proof that Kefka is male. On the floating continent Gestahl suggests that Celes and Kefka repopulate the earth. I don't see how this would work if Kefka wasn't Male -------------------- Since I advertise CoN there I think it's only fair that I advertise The Wiki here. |

Quote (THE_MAN @ 26th March 2009 15:56) Kefka is definitely a man, though a certain artist on FurAffinity did a series of female version s of all the FFVI bosses, including Kefka. -Human Form http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1865019 -God Form http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2053117/ I hate to sound disrespectful but I really could've gone without that first link. After reading the comments, I can't help but think if he were a girl, the phrase wouldn't be the same, instead it'd be: "Ahem... There's SAND on my BOOBS!" And that just ain't right.
