I have seen quite a few things on youtube and learned some info on here about different things on ff6, but one thing that always was in my mind, just never managed to try it, was As I call it "The Save challenge"
I just recently started a new game , on GBA, and finally decided to try this out. First I went into Narshe caves, and saved on the save point. From there on I progressed through the game, only using Quicksave if I needed to turn it off. After getting into second half of game, making everyone lvl 99, I decided now was time. I went into a battle, and killed off everyone. When it went from the black screen with the fainted character, it had me reappeared back in Narshe Mines, with Lvl 99 character. So now I can try to see how much easier it will be. How many others tried this? -------------------- Kefka's Message of the week: Get off your couch noobs and get my new game Dissidia 012 |

Wow - I've never tried that! Hmm, maybe this is how I can get my glitchy FFV to actually let me beat it.
I'm doing a replay right now, and I'm really trying to level Celes up in the WOB. I think I save every 10 minutes - feels like it, at any rate. ![]() Level 99 character at the beginning would be enormously helpful. I don't think I'd have the patience to play through almost to the end and then immediately begin replaying. Your game fu is stronger than mine. ![]() -------------------- I figured I had paid my debt to society by paying my overdue fines at the McLennan County Library. "Oh crap!" - Bartz "Huh? well i did it primarily becaus eof Intangir. I always had a hard time beating it cause it was too strong. But when I got the ubber levels on the island. I maxed all the magic spells i had. Its very useful

At first I though you were talking about a glitch in the Advance version. It requires you to use two files, in one you play normally up until you want ( I imagine it works best near the end of the game) then you quicksave. In the other file you have to play from the beginning without saving until you obtain the character you want to raise and then die on purpose, the game takes you to the former file with the levels you had in the later but keeps the stats. Ideal for maxing.
I haven't tried it yet. I'm paranoid and save every chance I get... on multiple files. ![]() -------------------- "Love, and do what you will" Saint Augustine |

Sometimes its best that way though. I havent heard of the way you're talking about. Sounds a little confusing. But if you do try the way I did it, then make sure to be ready fro moments that looks like you might die, and start from wherever u saved last when you didnt want to, and then magically make it through the match

Wow, that's cool! I forgot it saves your EXP.
I've never tried anything like that, but when I first got the game, I forgot you could save on the Overworld, so I only saved at the save points. It caused a lot of frustration. Especially when I beat the Floating Continent (I didn't discover the save point near the end), and escaped, but was unable to save Cid later. I really wanted him to live, so I reset...back to the beginning of the Floating Continent. |

I've never really been interested in the low-level challnege stuff. Always seemed more of a hassle than it really was

Breaking the game like that is pretty cool, though. The real culprit is MBlock%. It doesn't matter what level you are, with the right equipment you're basically unstoppable.

Kinda like force armor and whatnot right? I never used that stuff. Just stuck with getting Genji armor and genji shields for most of the party

Yeah. Force armor/shield, Minerva, Mystery Veil, Enhancers, Paladin shield etc. All things Genji are good for sure.
So I've started up another game because a no-magic game is too easy. A no-fight/esper game. Just items and abilities. If you think about it, things still won't be too bad. Most characters have decent abilities. We'll see. Had to cheat a bit at the beginning... Have to win a battle with Mog at the beginning for him to get his first dance... |

Yeah but if thats the case, what about when it's just Locke and Terra? Lockes ability is only steal, and Terra can only attack and magic. Since its abilities only, then those two are useless at this point

Yeah but that takes away the entire funness of the game. I went through a quick check of my bestiary and remembered something. Try to ever so complete the bestiary..........And i was one off cause of the grenades. I never can find em

Well, only until you get Edgar. Then you Steal/Tools/Defend. Sabin blitzes, of course. Banon heals. Shadow throws. Gau rages. Mog dances... etc. etc. Celes' 'Runic' is pretty good too.
You might think that defeating Tunnlarmr would be impossible at the end of Locke's scenario since you can only steal and runic, but I'm pretty sure the Thunder Rod you get in Sth Figaro cave kills it in one shot when you use it as an item. |

YEah, ever so reliable Thunder Rod. It has saved me on many an occasion. And if you dont use it on Tunnlarmr, it comes quite well against Kefka in the battle in Narshe

Ah, the thunder rod. I'm saving mine for one of the cranes in my CES perfect stats game...if I get to that point ._.
The no-fight/esper game sounds fun. It keeps the individuality of the characters. But I wonder about Relm, one of the reasons I don't use sketch is because of the glitch of DOOM, never happened to me for the same reason, but is it really that common or am I freaking out for nothing? -------------------- "Love, and do what you will" Saint Augustine |

I remember fiddling around with it a bit. It doesn't always importantly glitch. I never used sketch or lore really, so that'll be interesting.
As you can imagine, Mantra will be awesome endgame. Terra will be basically useless, however. Umaro is good to go etc. etc. |

I don't really have time to keep playing straight through, nor do I have a particular desire to do so as part of a challenge. I like to take my sweet time with games.

I do the opposite whenever I play. I save every chance I get and when I lose a battle I reset to avoid getting the extra experience and cash. Not a challenge per se as I don't restrict myself otherwise, but I'm usually about level 33-38 with most spells on all characters.
Theoretically this challenge wouldn't be too hard though because if you died, you'd just start all over with higher levels and more cash/equipment which would make getting back tedious, though much easier, then you'd get extra resources along the way back to help you thrust back. The main issue would be having the time to do it, though if quicksaves for the GBA version count then perhaps that's not so much an issue either. Perhaps if it was no saves, no game overs... but that'd be scary and probably lead to excessive power leveling anyway. Also, I've never thought of it before but if your last save was in the world of balance and you made it past through to the world of ruin, would it send you back to the world of balance or does the game have technical restrictions set in place that wouldn't allow that? I think it'd be rather funny to have lose shadow, get a ton of WoR exclusive equipment then regain him... Edit Sorry, sorta skimmed through. The point of this challenge is to see how easy it is? How delightfully ironic. This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 18th June 2009 20:43 -------------------- |

I have a timer set for every 5 minutes thats when I save. I play emulator and with 10 save files available for use anytime anywhere including the inbuilt save points I can do just about anything!
P.S. what happens when you die and haven't used any save points? -------------------- Since I advertise CoN there I think it's only fair that I advertise The Wiki here. |

I was doing a speed run challenge so saving only slowed me down.
