I should also mention that new band Paramour or whatever it's spelled has been a particular lil annoyance.  They're basically Avril Lavigne without all the heavy marketing.  I don't see much difference between "Girlfriend" and "Misery Business" fer example.  It just sounds so damned cheesy and "grrl power!"and not the least bit sincere.

Even though I sort of like Paramore, I really have to agree with you about all of the singles they put out. It is all girl friendly, but there are a few decent songs on that album that aren't like that.

No heavy marketing, eh? Weren't counting on the whole Twilight thing, were you?

I work at a Borders, and they've been playing the Twilight soundtrack to death for weeks. Paramore might just be the worst band ever. The song "I Caught Myself" makes me want to commit suicide, or at least ram knives into my ears, every time I hear it. They've also been playing Seal, and that's driving me just a little nuts. At least they stopped playing the god-awful Aretha Franklin Christmas album when they realized how badly it sucks and that if they want people to buy it they had better not let them hear it first. >_>

Does anybody listen to any radio stations that aren't mainstream or mainstream rock?  I mean, those popular music stations are so irritating, but I've avoided all of that with fine alternative radio, but even those aren't safe from songs that get old fast.  "Hey there Delilah" is one of those.  I hate the end of that song and how that dude sings.

I pretty much gave up on all radio six or seven years ago. Since moving to Los Angeles, though, I've found a station or two that plays good music. One is Indie 103.1, and the other is 89.9 KCRW, the latter of which is actually a college/NPR news station which occasionally plays music. I still listen almost exclusively to my massive CD collection, but I'll occasionally turn on one of those while driving just to see if they're playing anything good. Oh, and classic rock stations are okay by me, too, but only occasionally. The classics are great, but not if they're played to death.

On the whole rap subject, I can't stand the vast majority of it. I'm not comdemning the entire genre, because there is good rap to be found. I still don't particularly enjoy listening to most of it, but I can recognize talent and meaningful wordplay when I hear it. I saw a set by a rap artist called Cadence Weapon, who's from Montreal, that was pretty awesome. But the overwhelming majority of rap, namely most of the popular stuff, is pure crap.

Oh, I just remembered another song that drove me up the wall when it was being played all the time. It's that Gym Class Heroes song that totally rips off Supertramp's classic "Breakfast in America".

Rap, when it was a novelty back in the 90s, was pretty good. But now I can't help but think that it has become bland. Sort of like disco at the end of the 70s, rap has essentially become spruced up copies of older songs, or generic copies of new songs. This led to my theory that the rap era was close to ending. However, judging on the way our culture seems to only love bad music, rap seems to be here to stay.

I cannot listen to those two Paramore songs on the Twilight soundtrack without thinking how much of a sellout the band is. Apparently, the lead singer LUVS the books so she really wanted to write songs for the soundtrack. That's just wrong, because of course all these little girls love the books and will get hooked on her music, which translates into more money and automatic popularity for them.

And way to force your creative muse into a stupid song where every single word is about perfect Edward and his perfect relationship with Bella. Lyrically, the song is not interesting at all, and there's only five seconds of an cool guitar riff [at the beginning]. That really annoys me.

Seeing as how that post was made long before the movie came out...no, I can honestly say I wasn't counting on it...

Ha, that made me chuckle.

btw, I used to think I liked Lil Wayne, but he gets on my nerves for no particular reason. I realized that I like Kanye though.

I'll keep this brief & organize the kinds of "music" in appropriate sections that justifies my mood reactions..

Irritation/Annoyance:
-Rap/hip-hop/techno/anything that talks (or doesn't) in a repetitive computer-generated drum-beat.
-Screamo and all forms of hardcore music that is totally not metal.
-Punk music of all forms.
-Mid 1980s & up dregs aka ''hair metal''
-Pop (especially by talentless performers who use looks for ca$h-ching)
-Death metal (stupid grunts and annoying rhythms even if it does take alot of skill)
-"Comedy rock".
-J-pop/J-rock. They all suck, and I'm not a japanese-wannabe.

Melancholia:
-Blues (which is the cowboy version of what would later develop to as "emo")
-Country music & love/power/etc. ballads
-Emo (both scene & music)
-Alternative "rock"
-New Wave/Goth crap
-Grunge.
-House Music and anything else with mostly synthesizers/keyboard.

Confusion/Irony/Laughter:
-Christian ''metal''.
-Nu metal/Rap metal.

Boredom:
-Most kinds of hippie/stoner music.
-Jazz.

I have spoken.

I've been locked away for all these years
Now I can see the light of day
Things have changed a lot since I was last out here
I guess that's the way things, way things go

I should have posted this a long time ago. I absolutely CANNOT STAND that Surfin' Bird song! OMG. And when they put it on family guy.. I felt like Stewie toward the end when Peter played it and Stewie said, "craaaaaap!" Then I found out the Ramones actually covered the song... mad.gif On top of that, it gets stuck in my head so easy, so when I hear it I walk around singing it!!!

Well, after a year of having to listen to the constant whiny singing of all 'cool' popular songs by the people in my class, I think its safe to say that any song played on MTV or C4 annoys me.

Okay, well thats a lie, but seriously. wacko.gif drives me crazy.
Most annoying song? Take me on the floor by The Veronica's. Words cannot describe how much that song gets on my nerves. Plus, it always gets stuck in my head. *sigh*

Also.... Any song from High School Musical cry.gif I refuse to acknowlegde the existance of those horrible horrible movies, but it doesnt help when people sing it all the damn time!! *asplode*

OOHHH GOD. Don't ever mention them again! My mom is a teacher, and one of her fellow teachers, who is in her mid 30s and should know better, is obsessed with them!

I just have one question. Them, Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers, why are they so popular? They're kids' groups that happen to be the biggest grown-up acts today. What has gone wrong?

Kim Sozzi - Break Up

It's some dance song that starts well but you'll see I suppose if you listen to it. Wait for the chorus, then go and cry on the floor in frustration.
