I don't recall there ever being such a topic so here we go! whats your favorite adventure of the blue bomber? I haven't played MegeMan 9 yet so I might change my mind in the future, but here I go with my rant none the less.
For me it's MegaMan 3 for the Nintendo. It didn't have as good of storyline or as many gimmicks as the later ones, but it had the most style. First off, I loved the enemy skills they were really unique. Snakes that crawl along the ground, guided boxing glove, homing magnets, disabling sparks, badass ninja star, and I could go on. Then theres the music, which I think had the best overall score in the series (Topman stage w00t!) and of course the bosses, which were challenging using the plasma cannon but were stupid easy with their weaknesses so they get a 7.4 and you get to re-fight some of the bosses from MegaMan 2 which was kind of cool, but you just shouldn't make a robot of wood. Overall my only problem was the fact that there was no hard mode. -------------------- "You know that feeling you get when you're on a merry go 'round, and you want to jump off to make the spinning stop, but you know it'll suck when you land? Mega Man 6!
Reasonably beatable bosses, Long complex levels with split paths, and a gorgeous soundtrack (Wind Man FTW!). Edit Also, I'm assuming you're talking about original-series here. If not, I'm gonna say that my favorite is Mega Man ZX. This is a tough call, but I think it's going to have to be Mega Man 9 for me. The stage music is incredible, there is a good variety of weapons with different applications, it is a fairly difficult game, and most importantly, it has a boss dedicated to ceramics. That's a pretty solid combination.
Mega Man 2 is in second place for me. It is a reasonably difficult game without being too unfair and the weapons are fun, even though there are all basically the same. Mega Man 1 was the hardest by far, but I think some of that difficulty was unfair. Most notably are the flying face platform things on Ice Man's level and on Wily 1. I remember jumping on them and just falling straight through. It was always during a time when there were lots of sprites on screen (e.g. an enemy, me firing at it, and two flying platforms shooting bullets), but still that can't be prevented and is real lame. Sometimes they also don't move in the right direction so some jumps take tons of time and patience and you have to get lucky that you don't just fall through them. You can also die after killing bosses, which is really lame. I remember killing Ice Man and then dying from the rest of his attacks which were still on screen; I could not jump over them because I was frozen during the victory music. As any MM1 player knows, those do like 1/3 of your max health, so it was pretty certain KOs. Also unfair difficulty. So yea, MM9 is my favorite, followed by 2. 1 doesn't place on the list because it's just outright not fun most of the time. -------------------- Is PJ |

I guess this doesn't include the X/Zero/ZX series, so I vote for MM6, with Rockman & Forte following as a close second
I've yet to play Mega Man 9. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Mega Man V for the Game Boy. Great boss, stage, and weapon variety, a plot with a twist ending, and my favorite weapon in Mega Man history, the Spar Chaser. By far the most underrated game in the series. Second place is probably MM2 or MM4.

I've never been skilled at much other than RPG and puzzle games, but Mega Man 2 was my favorite because I loved the Woodman Stage music and also because it was the only mega man game where I could get to and complete most of the Dr. Wiley stages. I don't think I ever beat it, but I might have. Just can't remember.

My most vivid memories are of Megaman 5. I can remember playing that original NES cart when I was kid =) love the stages and the music. I remember enjoying Gravity Man's stage every time I played........I don't remember why though haha.

Mega Man 5 because of the challenge.
I remember you had to pick up the special item letters on each robot master stage to unlock Bit, the blue bat, with Bit on your arsenal the Final Willy was a breeze. I loved the Gravity Man fight, I remember you had to perfectly timed your Charged Buster Blast and released it half way during the Gravity Shift. I know he had a weakness, but I always played him first. Crystal Man's stage was hard, Wave Man's stage had the hardest Letter to catch. Oh, did I forget to mention that there were two "final" dungeons. FakeProtoMan dungeon and then you had to go to Willy's real final dungeon. ----- Mega Man 8 is also worthy of Best Ever recognition. -------------------- PS3 tag: TipoDLuffy "...quite possibly the greatest game ever made" |

"I remember you had to pick up the special item letters on each robot master stage to unlock Bit, the blue bat, with Bit on your arsenal the Final Willy was a breeze."
You had to find the letters "MEGAMANV" to unlock Beat, IIRC. Also, it was a bird, and named Beat. (Yay musical theme naming.) "I know he had a weakness, but I always played him first." Same here, because he was way easier to beat than some other bosses. "Crystal Man's stage was hard, Wave Man's stage had the hardest Letter to catch." Ahh, I totally remember that. Crystal Man's stage had one jump that was hellishly annoying to make, and Wave Man's stage's jetski area was quite annoying to navigate skillfully. "Oh, did I forget to mention that there were two "final" dungeons. FakeProtoMan dungeon and then you had to go to Willy's real final dungeon." They did that in Mega Man 4 as well, with Dr. Cossack's areas. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Mine's a little bias because I've only played one of the numbers: 9.
I've gotten to Wily, but I ran out of energy tanks. Also played Legends. Not too bad. -------------------- Blah Blah Blah Tidal Wave Spam! |

I loved Megaman 2 and was especially fond of V and VII as well.
The second game, mainly because it was easily the hardest game I had ever played up until that point. I still have a lot of fond memories playing it and maintain that it had some of the best bosses to date. V was challenging, but not as much as 2 was, at least not for me. Still, the levels were fun and well designed, the bosses were interesting and Capcom managed to sneak in a few extra surprises that added to the game overall. I can't explain why I liked VII, but I had a lot of fun playing it. I guess introducing Bass and Treble was a nice touch and the general look of the game was so new and polished compared to what I remembered of the older games. 9 was fun, but I wouldn't say it was a favorite. I didn't really care for the X series at all after the third game, and of them all, I still think X is by far the greatest, and in fact, it features my two favorite themes ever from in a Megaman game; Storm Eagle and Spark Mandrill. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

Megaman games are really fun. I got into those games like 11 years ago (my first being the debut from the X series)
Favorite from the original series? 2, but I also enjoyed 5 and 6. Didn't like 4 or 7 too much. The original, 7, and beyond are the only ones I haven't beaten yet. Favorite from the X series? Ouch, that's a tough one. I loved the SNES MMX trio. It's a tie there. Although, if it were a comparison between Megaman and Mega Man X, I'd go for X all the way. ~AngelWitch666~ -------------------- I've been locked away for all these years Now I can see the light of day Things have changed a lot since I was last out here I guess that's the way things, way things go |
