Quote (dont chocobos rule? @ 4th April 2008 23:23) tidus' voice made me cringe so much, i tried to block it out. the part where hes hanging on and being sucked into sin and is screaming made me turn off the ps 2 and not play that game again until the next day, the voice acting is that bad. also, the expressions are terrible in the scene, look at tidus's face and tell me his expression is good. I'm so glad you said that, it needed to be said. Every line was so cheesy, not just in the intro, but the whole game. The rest of the game was good and the intro wasn't bad, beside the voice acting of course. -------------------- |

Quote Quote (King Eddy @ 15th March 2008 03:22) I'm gonna say VII because the stupid reactor was quite annoying. The controls are backwards so that screwed me as I first started out, as well as Cloud saying "I don't care" all the time. Cloud is much better later on. The whole swapped X and O deal annoyed me a good deal too. That and I always got annoyed with Barrets dodgy dialog when explaining how to run. VII was the first RPG I ever played so I got so used to that control style that I actually switch all other RPG control to match that whenever I get the option. |

Oh, probably FF8's indulgent intro. Too long, and then afterwards...I'm back in high school! The best part is probably the hideous facial scar that Squall gets.

I don't mind the X intro too much since Auron pretty much saves any scene that he's in, but I agree with the VI intro being kinda bad. The magitech armor or whatever it was called didn't help, it just made things feel awkward, clunky, and slow.

it had to be 12, i played the first 6 hours and just quit the game. but yes IV and XII both hit that "BORING" moment. to the first poster, VI wasn't terrible at least you got to pretty much dominate the first part.

I didn't think FFVIII's opening was bad.
It caught my interest. I think there aren't any spoilers anyways... The romantic conversation between Rinoa and Squall... Frames of Edea... Squall's and Seifer's battle...[which I thought was good to show the rivalry between them] And I guess those frames that pop up for a few secs toward the end could be what you're talking about. I don't particularly like FFIII's opening. The original was too fast. The recent one is a bit to fast too, But at least you get more background on the characters you play. ...And Luneth falls on his butt on your top screen. -------------------- "My youngest sister, Cup Caaaaaaaaaaaake, should be in the land of Sushiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii." i still never tried 3, but yea 8 was a great opening, i wish they could've kept that momentum for the game.

I've only played through 4-X and XII, and so far XII gets my vote on the worst opening, it was just boring listening to the history, and the whole empire theme isn't my cup of tea.

Quote (leilong @ 22nd March 2008 16:04) I voted VI tho, primarily for reasons already stated: slow startup, drop in on the story, etc. That's the one thing I never really understood: VI did a great job of running plot and plot devices, but the game just starts in the thick of it. It's just like, here's a girl... magic user... BAM! Go Go Go! You're running from someone! Come to find out, the people you're running from are essentially the "good guys," and yadda yadda, I'm bored just explaining it. Another reason why it's a lot like Star Wars. That started right in the thick of the action, too. I've only played VI and III, and I guess there' s no real reason to dislike III because it's beginning was...not really anything. I like VI's beginning. It does get a bit tedious after a few times, though, especially after the beginning music ends and you have to wait for the wind to sound and then the characters to come. |

Actually, I think that Final Fantasy Tactics can be quite long, first off, the text cutscenes are looong, and the first battle you only control Ramza, however the good story helps make up for it, but for the fifth time seeing it, it does get old.

FF6's opening is an interesting case. When I was kid, I was unimpressed with the first 20 minutes and didn't play the game for a whole year. However, the 5 hours AFTER those 20 minutes were the best opening hours in FF history imho.

I would have voted but my choice was FFII and it wasn't there.. soooo annoying. Almost as annoying as the opening for VI but not quite.

I dont know what some of you are talkin about FFX was a great opening, You have this weird underwater game of water polo, then out of no where a big death ball comes out and starts F@#kin everything up, and you start fighting weird monsters,
FFVI on there other hand starts off with dull music and three solders talking and then walking in snow for 5 mins then you fight some ridiculously easy guards |

I was surprised that the FFX intro got no love in here. I know most of you don't enjoy the game, but the intro was rather well done, IMO.

I actually do enjoy Final Fantasy X quite a lot. It's not one of my favorite Final Fantasies, but after you've played the game about 3-4 times, I get tired of hearing Tidus's poor voice acting and that screechy death metal.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Sadly, that song also happens to be the final boss music. -------------------- "You underestimate the strength of a Jedi's mind, Brejik. A mistake you won't live to regret, " -Bastila Shan(Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic) |

Quote (BanjoTheClown @ 16th February 2008 12:17) Ill say II because, i started playing it, then there was a battle, then they died, then all this other stuff happened like learning the password. It was all confusing, and it took me forever to find scott because of the soldiers in Fynn. I would have voted II also.. of course this is probably because when I got it there was a glitch or whatever in my copy and so when they lost the battle at the beginning, all I got was a "GAME OVER"... complete crap -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

My least favorite was 8, but I do think that 12 was a bit long. I loved the game, but idk, something about being told how to do things after playing the rest of the games insults my intelligence.

I null voted, because I've only played VII, VIII, and Tactics and I enjoyed all three of the openings very much; although the first couple of battles in Tactics weren't as interesting during my more recent playthroughs of the game compared to my first time.
-------------------- FF games completed: I (psp), II (psp), III (DS), IV (psp), V (GBA), VI (GBA), VII, VIII, IX, X, XI: Nations-Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, XII, XIII, XIV, XV. Spin-offs: FFIV: Interlude & The After Years, Crisis Core: FFVII, X-2, XIII-2, Lightning Returns, Type-0 HD, Dissidia, Dissidia 012, and Tactics (original & WotL). Enjoyed them all. |

It's a tough choice between X and IX. I chose IX overall, though. Because you have the city section with Vivi, and finding all the hidden items, then the really long section with Zidane and Garnet, then the escape (FMVs galore), then you crash land and have to do the whole Evil Forest section without a White Mage.
X is just so lonnnng. The first save point isn't until after the boss! And then you have to get through the ruins and the Al-Bhed stuff and the boring Besaid stuff before you leave on your journey. |

FFIV. I hate starting that game and having to watch the Red Wings fly around the entire world map at a snail's pace.

Quote (Del S @ 16th February 2008 17:34) 8 and 12 both have intros that suffer from being so goddamned long, but at least 12's is watchable. It did, however, almost lead to me shooting the damn game out the window because it took so fraggin' long. But I voted FFX, because there's no option to select the [cheesy, j-pop crap] that is the FFX2 intro. What so bad about j-pop? D= Anyways... if there's a long opening scene, it means a lot of effort was put onto making it... which is enough reason to make me like every opening sequence ^^ -------------------- "Carry us to the fountain of power..." |
