Ok with the football season closing in, who is everyones picks to win the Super Bowl. As for me, I would go with my Cleveland Browns but since they cut every starting linebacker last year and have no defense I am going to have to go with the Dolphins this year, don't ask me why it's just a hunch. What about the rest of you?

Tampa Bay. I've picked them to go 19-0 for every season since 1992.

Tampa Bay is a really solid team with great coaching and an unbelievable defense...but in this day and age, the way football is so unpredictable, I don't think anyone's going to repeat. I'm going to go with the Eagles, I think this is finally the year they get it all together and make a run through the playoffs.

Quote (Gears @ 3rd September 2003 10:18) Tampa Bay is a really solid team with great coaching and an unbelievable defense...but in this day and age, the way football is so unpredictable, I don't think anyone's going to repeat. I'm going to go with the Eagles, I think this is finally the year they get it all together and make a run through the playoffs. The eagles are a pretty solid staff, but they appear, from thier lack of player retention (Namely Hugh Douglas) to have taken a step back from last year. However, thier division grants them a few creampuff games, and i highly suspect they'll make it to the playoffs this year. Between San Francisco, Green Bay, New Orleans, and Atlanta, those teams do not appear to have done much of anything special. From the NFC, there's only one team I could suspect would have a breakout year: Minnesota. The biggest challenge to a repeat would most likely, in my eyes, come from the AFC. -------------------- "Not me... I dreamt I was a moron." |

I am going to go with the NY Giants. The only thing they lacked last year was special teams, and during the off-season they aquired 8 veteran special teams players. I think it will be NYGvsMIA.

NY Giants = Overrated. Will they be a contender? Sure. But there are WAY too many analysts etc. predicting it will either be them or the Bucs. Sure, they have Shockey and a strong offense, but to say that it's unstoppable is pushing it.
I'm going to go with the Eagles myself. For the record, I still hate them for their debacle with the Bears 2 years ago. -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

I think if the Eagles were to win it, they would have done it last year. Their time has past, too many other teams can beat them now. You never know though.

I'm going for the Dolphins, as usual. The have some good defense, and Ricky Williams. They have the potential, definitely. I'm hoping they have a good year.

Miami has always been known as a great team until Thanksgiving, and then something in the Turkey poisons thier decembers.
If they get over that hurdle, I'd Put miami with at least a 1st round bye. -------------------- "Not me... I dreamt I was a moron." |

I think the Eagles might be able to pull it off this year. They'd better at least make it to the playoffs...I'll be disappointed if they don't.

The Dolphins are going to be lucky to even make the playoffs this season, let alone make it to the Super Bowl. They might not even be the second best team in their division.
I'll be a homer and say the Buffalo Bills. This post has been edited by SSJ_Cloud on 4th September 2003 22:38 -------------------- "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle |

For the AFC:
The division winners will be: Buffalo, KC, Tennessee and Pittsburgh. The wildcards will be Oakland and New England. For the NFC: The division winners will be: Philly, Green Bay, St. Louis, and Tampa Bay. The wild cards will be the Gaints and Atlanta. No Broncos, Cloud? I think if anyone from the AFC has a chance this year, it's the Broncos.
AFC: E: New England- This division will be insanely close, but the Patriots have the most experience and strongest D, so they'll pull it off in the end. C: Pittsburgh- There's just no one else halfway decent in this division. (Baltimore will be dissapointing yet again) S: Tennessee- If everyone stays healthy, they can be as good as anyone in the AFC. W: Denver- I'm not a huge Plummer fan, but as long as he doesn't make too many mistakes and just gives the ball to Portis, they'll win 12 games. WC: Oakland and New York. Jerry Porter steps up as one of the top wideouts in the NFL, and Rich Gannon has at least one more year where he can consistently get the ball to his insane receiving crew. I know the Jets are down right now, but I just can't pick against Herman Edwards. He's turning into my second favorite coach in the league (behind Gruden) NFC: E: Philly- McNabb can win games by himself, but he won't have to with the D out there. N: ...don't make me say it S: Tampa Bay- Before a certain MVP candidate got injured, I thought this might be a close race. N: ...not yet... W: Seattle- My upset pick, I don't think either San Fran or St. Louis wants this division enough, and Seattle could come in and steal it. N: ...Green Bay- It's fairly obvious, but I don't think my beloved Bears will be able to overtake them with John Shoop still calling "plays" WC: St. Louis, New Orleans- The Rams will put up the points to win 9 games, and New Orleans sneaks in with their O. Atlanta makes a run when Vick comes back, but I don't think they'll win more than one game without him. -------------------- Hip-Hop QOTW: "Yeah, where I'ma start it at, look I'ma part of that Downtown Philly where it's realer than a heart attack It wasn't really that ill until the start of crack Now it's a body caught every night on the Almanac" "Game Theory" The Roots |

I'll be the different one of the group, but I gotta go with the team I've supported ever since I knew what football was, and go for the Packers. Green Bay will at least win their division, of that I can be almost sure, and since Favre's getting at least one more year in, I think this year belongs to him and his team.
Edit: You can harp on that Packers loss all you want, but that GB loss doesn't change my standpoint one bit. Sure the injuries are a little scary but I'm confident that the Pack can best the vikings for the division title. This post has been edited by TheEvilEye on 9th September 2003 00:21 |

Better hope they don't play like they did today. Good lord, I don't think I've ever seen Favre play that badly. Plus they lost their best two receivers. But, they played better than the Bears did (along with everyone else in the league.) -------------------- Hip-Hop QOTW: "Yeah, where I'ma start it at, look I'ma part of that Downtown Philly where it's realer than a heart attack It wasn't really that ill until the start of crack Now it's a body caught every night on the Almanac" "Game Theory" The Roots |

Well Miami kinda dissapointed me last week, they didn't seem to take Houston serious. NYG though did pretty well.
On a side note, I live in Dallas, am a huge Cowboys fan, but work in a Steelers bar. ::sigh:: Those are some rabid people, they all have Steelers jerseys so it's a sea of black and gold. I like to wear the blue and silver just to piss 'em off, and it works a little too well - but they love it. -------------------- "My impersonation of an ordinary person was flawless." - Neal "Don't cry because it's over. Some lady at Walmart stopped my friends and I with a desperate plea to tell her how the Steelers were doing today. Before that, it had never occured to me that they were doing anything of importance. ;-)
I never followed football. The greatest extent to which I have ever cared about any football league was in sixth grade, when my classmates made it very clear to me that I was a Canes fan, not a Seminole. So I guess I'll say go Steelers, or something? Whatever. ![]() -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

I dunno who'll be there, but I predict an AFC team will win the superbowl. Buffalo or Denver are my picks. For the NFC I'd probably go with Tampa ::sigh:: The Eagles have looked horrible, Vick'll be out for half the season. Hmm, but they'll go like 3-3 without him, and then 8-2 with him. So, I'll go with a Vikings vs Buffalo/Denver super bowl with the AFC team winning.

Miami Dolphins are going to win the super bowl this year, they have been my favorite team since 4th grade..its about time they got somebody that can actually run the ball, Kareem Abdul Jabar..wasn't that great, John Avery, Laurence Phillips was okay they released him for drugs, Lamar smith sucked his like 2nd season with the dolphins, and today Ricky Williams ran 125 yards today...Stupid Houston Texans beat them..Uhh...But they beat the Jets..they will beat Buffalo next week.
Anyways...if Miami's Defense improves and gos back to what they did last year they will be sure to win the superbowl, they also need to find out a good passing game, and I wish Brian Griese would not be injured >_> hopefully Fiedler doesn't get hurt like last year..Ray lucas killed the Dolphins playoff hopes. :/ -------------------- A warrior takes sword in hand, clasping a gem to his heart...
