I just go with the cheap mime Knights of the Round method as well. It might help to have someone with final attack linked to pheonix too.
Or you could stock up on megalixers from master tonberies (or exploit the item duplication glitch) and just have one character use one each turn. Make sure your characters don't have too much materia on them, as Emerald's Air Tam Storm does 1111 damage for each piece of materia a character has equiped. Good Luck. ![]() -------------------- FF games completed: I (psp), II (psp), III (DS), IV (psp), V (GBA), VI (GBA), VII, VIII, IX, X, XI: Nations-Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, XII, XIII, XIV, XV. Yuffie with her conformer. HP Plus, Double Cut, and as many Counter Attacks as you can get.
Somebody else with Gravity+Quadra Magic, W-Magic. Somebody else with Phoenix+Final Attack, and E-skill with White Wind and Big Guard. And W-Item. That should be the most basic way to take him out. Anything extra wouldn't hurt. -------------------- I'm a little Wombat, short and stout Here is my tail and here is my snout But if you get me angry and I start to snarl WATCH OUT OR I'LL BITE YOU'RE HEAD OFF!!! |

From what I understand, if you equip at least one person w/ Final Attack + Life 3 and that materia that makes everything cost like 1MP, you can tape down the action button, go have dinner, maybe see a movie if yer down for that...go get some groceries, window shop for those shoes yer always eyeballin, and then get home just in time to see him fall. Time varies on how many people ya set up with that materia cocktail.

To the people who use the "cheap" method(s) and feel bad, don't. Emerald and Ruby were designed to test you, and one of the viable methods for defeating them is being cheap. It's not cheap when it's one of like 3 ways to do it.

Hero Drinks. See if you have any in your inventory. If not then get some. They boost your stats for the entire battle and each character can drink four maximum. I think I've answered just about every "how do you kill" question with this.

Actually, I did try that, and the nature of the strategy made luck clearly unnecessary.
Side note: If you can't see a typo for what it is, I get to call you an idiot and not feel guilty. Now I'm not even gonna fix it. Edit Actually just plain old Life would do the trick seeing as how the power behind Emmy's attacks make Life2 pretty much moot. That would mean you wouldn't have to equip whatever it is that reduces MP consumption. This post has been edited by Narratorway on 26th October 2008 01:43 -------------------- |

...?
![]() For one, Final Attack only works five times, and that's when it's mastered. I feel confident in saying that you will die more than five times in the course of fighting Emerald if you are trying to kill it with nothing but physical attacks and limit breaks. Two, Life restores you to 10% HP, while Life 2 restores you to 100%. I fail to see how that is moot. Emmy can do some damage, but not that much. Three, I still don't know what MP reducing materia you're talking about. The only thing I can think of is MP Absorb, which does nothing close to bring down the MP cost of anything to one. So considering nothing in your post was correct at all, I'm slightly confused as to why you're calling me an idiot. -------------------- I'm a little Wombat, short and stout Here is my tail and here is my snout But if you get me angry and I start to snarl WATCH OUT OR I'LL BITE YOU'RE HEAD OFF!!! |

![]() you all something.... ![]() I'm trying to beat him with a tactic that isn't cheap (or safe as I have now read) because I want a challenge. ![]() Do you think you could (as crazy as this sounds) give suggestions on how to make the battle EXTREMELY hard? My way still provides a very acceptable challenge. It took me a few tries to beat him with that set up. You could of course try and beat him with just generic stuff. Spam Ultima and whatnot.
The biggest way to make it hard is to not have Phoenix/Revive + Final Attack. Other than that the only thing that'll really make a difference is KotR. Nothing else can really put out that much damage. I know. Use Frog on all your characters before the battle and don't equip the Underwater materia. Obviously you're not allowed to turn your characters back to humans. That's quite a challenge there. It's winnable though. I'll post a strategy if you want.

Quote (silakachim @ 31st March 2010 14:54) Yuffie with a mastered cover an' 13 counterattacks on the Conformer. SORTED. Do you really get 13 hits? As far as I remember the maximum amount of workable Counter-Attacks on a character is 8 but I could be wrong. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. I think he means using Conformer and a Wizard Bracelet with all but two slots filled with Mime=Counter and one with Double Cut(2/4x-Cut) that; I think would give you 28 attacks of ~9999; ~280000 damage, which is just under 1/3 of Emerald's full health
Btw, I haven't actually tried using Conformer on Emerald, although since he is lv.99 I assume it does 9999. And I can't remember whether you can mime 4xCut...I'm replaying now but I'm still at the beginning of disc 3 and haven't got a Gold Chocobo yet(Damn that Teiho stealing my B-Rank title!) |
