Quote (Kappa the Imp @ 16th August 2008 12:56) And the number of "people who claim to hate Soulja Boy" to "people who have at least thought about learning/trying to crank dat" ratio is close and interwoven enough to be deemed as a blinding hypocrisy. Yeah, I'm calling you all out right now. No, I don't hate Soulja Boy; I just don't like that song. Though, it's one of the less annoying songs in my list of annoying songs, and thus I wouldn't mind annoying the f*** out of someone using it...but only if I had nothing better to annoy them with, since doing so would make me a hypocrite. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Anyone who listens to the radio can agree that Katy Perry is incredibly annoying. It's not so much that she's not a good singer or anything of the sort; she actually has a fairly strong voice. It's just that radio stations have really overplayed her hit song "I Kissed a Girl" past the point of being annoying.
That's a lot of the problem with some popular music nowadays, I think. A particular song may be good, but radio stations insist on beating a dead horse into the ground. -------------------- "You underestimate the strength of a Jedi's mind, Brejik. I must agree.
"My Heart Will Go On" is proof of this. That song was even played during my graduation. Ugh. |

I almost equate anything done by Dem Franchise Boys, D4L, and Soulja Boy,\ with everything that is wrong with popular music.

good charlotte "i don't wanna be love"
the sound, lyrics, the people who made this music, I don't have anything personal against good charlotte, damn I used to like their music when they appeared on the scene, but this is bad, annoying and irritating. i'm from puerto rico, so in here we have a lot of reggeaton music, with each and every day that goes by it sucks more and more. I live in Southern California (the Valley, to be more specific) and I couldn't agree with you more about the reggaeton music, SaffireWeapon. At some point, I used to like reggaeton, but really a lot of it is annoying and too much of it sounds the same. There's only one main radio station that plays reggaeton, but it still manages to annoy me.

I gave up on radio stations a long time ago (save for morning talk shows on the way to school). Roughly half to three-quarters of all the songs I would hear were absolute rubbage.
I've especially become annoyed with Nickelback and Daughtry.......at first it was just one song and then........BAM!!!!!....everything they put it out melts my eyeballs (and not in a good way). |

Candy Shop, by 50 Cent. The lyrics are so unsubtle that they make one cringe. I accept that not all rap is like 50 Cent's special brand of shit, but he works hard enough to devalue the entire genre by himself.
Oddly enough, I have quite a high tolerance for songs that irritate most people to death. Videos like this and this even sound rather pleasant to my ears. This post has been edited by Sinslayer on 29th August 2008 16:38 -------------------- |

I should also mention that new band Paramour or whatever it's spelled has been a particular lil annoyance. They're basically Avril Lavigne without all the heavy marketing. I don't see much difference between "Girlfriend" and "Misery Business" fer example. It just sounds so damned cheesy and "grrl power!"and not the least bit sincere. But then again I don't sport a vagina, so who am I to judge?

I think the problem with most female singers in bands is that they end up sounding too much like Amy Lee (from Evanescence), so they just sound like imitations. I'd rather listen to Evanescence, thanks.
Most of Justin Timberlake's solo stuff has done an incredible job of bugging the hell out of me. I never jumped on the SexyBack bandwagon a few years ago and I don't get what's so special about him now that he's out of 'Nsync. -------------------- "You underestimate the strength of a Jedi's mind, Brejik. pretty much anything rap nowadays annoys me to no end. Lil Wayne is being heralded as "the greatest rapper alive" and anyone who agrees has never explored rap or hip-hop beyond what they see on the surface. at first i had fun with artists like Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne, etc etc etc. i could kick back, turn on MTV Jams, and spend a few hours laughing at what i was seeing, picking apart everything wrong with these videos. kinda like the back of a Highlights magazine. you know, where it has that picture with a bunch of messed up stuff in it and it says "find all the things wrong with the picture".
notice, however, i said that i hate RAP music. hip-hop and rap are not the same thing, and they haven't been for a quite a while now. i have no problem with people bashing rap artists, but please, at least give some of the hip-hop artists a listen. -------------------- moé in the streets, senpai in the sheets |

I have a dislike for most music that came out after 1990, the majority of it is just really repetitive and lacks any uniqueness
And it's all about sex and drugs with as many profanities thrown in as possibibble At least in older music they left some thingsunsaid to allow people to imagine, interpret and think about it all in thier own ways Music peaked wih Queen |

It is all girl friendly, but there are a few decent songs on that album that aren't like that. Does anybody listen to any radio stations that aren't mainstream or mainstream rock? I mean, those popular music stations are so irritating, but I've avoided all of that with fine alternative radio, but even those aren't safe from songs that get old fast. "Hey there Delilah" is one of those. I hate the end of that song and how that dude sings. I think music peaked with the Queen including Freddie Mercury. After that, nothing was the same. -------------------- "All roads are connected somehow. And they all lead to a time of salvation, where imprisoned souls will be freed. Pretty nuch any song that gets played over and over again until I go crazy irritates me. I don't want to hear the same song over and over, I want to hear a variety.
Rap drives me crazy too, Leona Lewis drives me crazy, country music drives me crazy, etc. I agree with a lot of the stuff that's already been said, except I LOVE Nickelback and Daughtry... I think Chad Kroeger has a dreamy voice. -------------------- Why, hello guys! Haven't been around here in a loooong time! http://dragcave.net/user/LadyTwi http://www.backloggery.com/ladytwi |

I'm very open concerning music - I have to be anyway, when I'm surrounded by such a diverse collection. So in the end, I love all kinds of music; whether it's from America, China, Germany..I can probably stand it.
But there are a couple of songs and artists that just...oh boy. They are pointless, they are irritating and I wish they would go rot in a pit of horse poop. The ones that do it the best? One is Lil Wayne's 'Pussy, Money, Weed'. I think enough is said after reading the title. Others include Panic At the Disco's 'Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off' (what the hell), Nickelback's 'Photograph' and anything by the Beastie Boys. Ugh. |

Quote (BlitzSage @ 28th November 2008 18:33) yeah, either then or 8 Dec. 1980. His music certainly didn't die when he did, and quite frankly? His solo career was not nearly as significant as his Beatles work, so I have to disagree with your statement. Tragic loss and all that, but I mean, really, so much good has happened since then from a musical standpoint. Recent song annoyances of mine are mainly in the form of everyone trying to jump into the electro-pop bandwagon. Also, Chris Cornell's entire new solo work drives me up a wall. Produced by Timbaland? Me: "Oh, so you don't like the way the world is now, huh? Um, you gonna do something about it?"
John Mayer: "Me? Naw, I'm just gonna wait on the world to change." I'm sure there's more to the song than I'm reading into. I'm not gonna read more into it, though, cuz that guy's music as a whole irritates the hell outta me. That one is just the worst offender and for reasons that aren't entirely rational : / . Oh, and cuz 'tis the season and all that, I gotta say any Christmas song by any pop singer drives me up the wall. Currently, there's a John Bon Jovi song that I've been hearing a lot since after Thanksgiving that really needs to go away... Really, if anyone outwardly hates hip-hop without really understanding it or having adequate exposure, I assume you're one of these: http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1762872 . Seriously.
I usually say that Linkin Park is the one band that never fails to annoy me, but some recent relative underexposure thanks to a new roommate has calmed me down somewhat. My new annoying song of the semester is Mrs.Officer by Lil' Wayne. Incredibly irritating. I have no idea why that guy is so popular when great newish acts like Lupe Fiasco, Papoose, and Joell Ortiz are around. -------------------- |

While he can't change the world, he has the influence to help people out (he must make a lot of money), but I find the thing is with most celebrities is that they do some good and help some needy families out (which is nice). This gives them good exposure, but the money or time they donate isn't a real sacrifice for them. What's 1 million dollars compared to 50 million? Just a couple less suits or dresses for them. I feel like John Mayer is in this situation, and artists who are like that annoy me (however, it would be perfectly fine if he didn't write political songs). That one Christmas song by Paul McCartney must be played five times a day. I've heard it twice a day for two days and it's really bugging me. Once is okay, but after that the repeat of that one line the song really bugs me. That synth line doesn't help. -------------------- "All roads are connected somehow. Quote One is Lil Wayne's 'Pussy, Money, Weed'. I think enough is said after reading the title. My friends and I actually play a game where we make up our own raps to popular beats. There's only a couple rules: first, the words have to rhyme. Second, common english rhymes do not count: the only words that rhyme in rap music are those related to crime, sex or drugs. It makes for some interesting combos. Quote and anything by the Beastie Boys. Ah, the beastie boys. So much musical talent.... .... </heavy sarcasm> The song that really gets on my nerves lately is that paper planes one: "All I wanna do is" blah blah blah WHY IS EVERYONE IN THE ROOM SINGING ALONG!!! There's nothing to that song! It's just worthless! I can't stand it. Forgive the rant. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Have a listen! |

There's nothing to that song! It's just worthless! I can't stand it. Forgive the rant. Actually, there is plenty to the song if you actually take a look at it. M.I.A. is making a comment on stereotypes, on suggestive labels often associated with minorities and plays to them in satirical fashion. To be honest, there is very little that M.I.A. does or did that does not have some real substance, despite being hidden behind extremely catchy beats. I'm loathing that If I was a Boy song that Beyonce just put out. The new Nickelback single? Despise it. I can't believe this band is still making music. Anything by Coldplay instantly drives me nuts, I won't even get started on why I think Chris Martin is a pretentious hack. That song by Kevin Rudolf, the one that features Lil' Wayne? No dice. It's obscenely long and only repeats the same lines over and over while a generic rock-themed guitar line blares off against an annoyingly cliche techno beat. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |
