If any of you are familiar with the forum SomethingAwful, they have a very famous board (one among the dozens that they have) dedicated to a little something called Let's Play, where the topic creator picks a game, and plays through it while either taping his experience on video, or in lieu of that, he gives a screen by screen experience of whatever game he's playing with commentary until he beats it. A Let's Play can be in any format, whether it's YouTube, the players personal site, or the message board itself.
Right now I'm making a Let's Play over at RPG Maker Network for Final Fantasy IV. I update it pretty regularly and everyone seems to be having a good time, even though it's my first one. Check it out. http://www.rpgmaker.net/forums/index.php?topic=1303.0 -------------------- //www.rpgmaker.net/ We make games. Period. |

My friend Matt does this kind of thing all the damn time at Somethingawful, and sometimes cross-posts them to uvagamers. They can be interesting, but I prefer playing games to reading about someone's play log.

I find the humorous and creative comments interesting and hilarious, and while in theory doing something is better than watching it, I'll gladly watch someone's funny/interesting commentary if the game in question is one I've either played a million times, or a game that I have no intention on playing ever.

Playing the game is better than reading it.
