My company is seeing a lot of calls from our clients this morning where a trojan called win32:wow-fym is embedding on their machines.

Every machine that has thus far got the virus is running either Avast! Antivirus version 4.7 or 4.8. They oftentimes have other programs such as Trend Micro, Norton, McAffee, ect, but every caller without fail has had Avast!.

The trojan, near as we can tell, is a keylogger program. We're working with Avast! this morning to try to find out how it's getting through, and why it's choosing our software to embed itself into.

My question: Have any Avast! users on this board picked up a trojan in the last 48 hours? I'm talking zero hour detection, which means the virus got into your system undetected, but was then detected when it started to act.

Thanks for any intel you can give.

I have avast! 4.8, and it has detected nothing harmful coming in. Whether that means the file has entered and not activated, I don't know, but its showing nothing at the moment. If anything changes, I'll let you know, but at the moment, there's nothing.

Lo and behold, Avast! is programmed in the Czech Republic, and thus is about 10 hours ahead of us..... which means tech support was off duty long ago. Those crazy Czechs. Looks like it will be Monday before our CRMT group can get up with them. sad.gif

My machine at work runs Symantec, nothing penetrated it thus far, and 2 attacks via trojan have attempted. This experience is making me think twice about my norton.
