how do I know that I've given Cid the fast fish? There are only 2 fish, I keep trying and I keep failing.

I don't think it really matters. Just give him as many fish as possible and he'll eventually heal, that's what I did at least. Also you don't have to have him survive to go on. Saving Cid is a just a feature that you choose.

You can find out which fish you caught by checking the item menu and selecting "Rare" at the top (I think that's what it's called). Among other things, you see "Fish" and be able to move the cursor over it to find out what kind of fish it is.
It you want to save Cid, catch only the fast-moving ones. If there aren't any, just talk to Cid and return to the beach. There will be more. You can keep doing that until you see fast fish. ![]() |

When you give him the fast fish, he starts to say more positive things. On the other hand, he starts to say negative things ("I'm not fit for this world" type of stuff) when you give him the slower fish.

Personally, I enjoy the plot more when Cid dies. It puts Celes in a more difficult position, which helps her become a better person for what lies ahead. Just think of it: all alone, a small piece of island, the last remaining piece of the world that once was.

For me, ive beaten this game probably over 10 times already, and every time for me is different.
The first few times i did just give him all fish possible, and he died as often as he did live, so this might be random as far as my games showed The other times i gave him all bad fish, slow fish, and fast fish respectively. Strangely, i gave him all bad fish and he still lived...but he died with the slow fish ALWAYS and ALWAYS lived with the fast fish, this is true... This is what i found from my play-throughs ( i played a lot to try to get all lores, rages, low-level game, high level, perfectionist, ragnorok, Shadow's dreams, etc) -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA.
