Who doesn't like Karate Kid?

I bought the trilogy box set the other day for $14 just for nostagia's sake and when I watched the movies I couldn't help but cry when I saw Daniel-san and Mr. Miyagi doing their kata sequences. When I was a kid I didn't realize how powerful this trilogy was, well now I know.

LONG LIVE MIYAGI SENSEI!!!

Pat Morita will forever be remembered!!

AMC was playing Karate Kid and Karate Kid 2 every day for awhile. The week before my finals, when classes had ended and I had no studying to do, AMC played these all the time. One day they played them back-to-back twice (1, 2, 1, 2, consecutively). I watched it every time. happy.gif

The movies were very enjoyable but I don't even know why. I like movies packed with action or comedies, typically. My attention span is not very good with other things. Ironically, most of both of these movies is just dialogue/plot and not senseless violence, but I still love them. And yes, Miyagi is a champion.

I probably saw Karate Kid five or six times in three days and Karate Kid 2 maybe three times in that same time span. huh.gif I guess finals week is good for something.

They are great films, I still have the "wax on, wax off" line stuck in my head.

Yes, those movies are great, very likable characters and great storylines. They never really get old no matter how many times I see them.

Plus the main character is a player.

Yanno I should have watched that marathon. I just never had the time, It's been so long I barely remember anything other than painting the fence, wax on wax off.

When you watch movies like this as a kid, there is just something captivating beyond words about them. The Karate Kid movies.... Goonies... ect. Watching them now, I have a more objective eye and find myself being a bit critical of things like the plot, the acting, the visuals, and so on. Still, the little boy in me loves them. In fact, my personal DVD library is full of 80's movies that I got hooked on as a kid.

Well I'm sure they are all really well known for a reason. I got the urge to watch them all again about a year ago and was easily able to rent them at blockbuster.. the 3 Ninjas movies on the other hand.. not so easy to find.
