Hi guys,

I'm sorry to ask such a silly question, but this would be pretty helpful for me to know...

What is the significance of Locke's bandana? I know that
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Celes found it on the beach of her little island in the WoR after attempting suicide
but did the bandana appear in the story before that point? Did Locke ever make reference to it; was it a gift or a memento from his past or anything? Now, I'm talking about canon fact only. I've checked around and so far haven't found any answers.

The reason I ask is because I am starting to design Locke's first costume change for my comic, and want to know if the bandana should be a constant in his outfit.

Thanks for your help, guys. Y'all are the best.

Locke's bandana is a characteristic of his, that onle he has. There is no other character in the game who has a headband/bandana.

The significance behind Celes finging the Bandana was that Locke promised to protect her when they first met. He made this promise because someone died for him, and Locke would probably lay down his life for celes(or not, they "unofficially" are lovers)

It's also a shows that he could still be alive, and maybe even searching for her. It's kind of like a note in a bottle. You find it and it reveals a message.

Personally, I think of Lock and Celes as the protagonists of the story, which as to the vitalness of the bandana.

There are no stupid questions, I just hope my answers were not stupid.

Lolz, you're exactly right(in my opinion). When I was playing this game and got to that point for the first time(6 years old I think), I took practicly everything I heard serious, so I thought Celes and Cid were the only the only ones alive. I didn't know how to save Cid, so he died, then Celes tried to kill herself, when she found Lock's bandana, I thought: "Locke's alive!"(didn't even know Japan existed then, so now I use the japanese names) I think that scene's important for younger players who take stuff too seriously. And, as long as you feel good about yourself, locke=amazing, there are no stupid answers.

I first played the game when I was 10. I, too, was very sad because I thought everyone was dead.
But do they ever mention his bandana before the WoR?

His bandana is not mentioned before the WoR, but it is something that all the FFVI fans recognize him for. He never talks about it where he got it from, because other than the ending or the suicide scene, it's not talked about.

It's a trademark of his, so I think you should keep it.

I just always figured he wore a bandana to be associated with the Thief job class, as in other FF carnations the Thief class usually wears a bandana or headband of some sort.

"I'm not a thief!!! I'm an adventurer!"

It amused the heck out of me when I saw them classify his job as "Adventurer" in the GBA version.

heheh... I'm pretty sure he's a big fat thief. And yeah, the bandana does kinda reinforce the thief stereotype. Awesome.

Thanks for your help, guys! smile.gif

Yah...I thought that there was no way that anyone was dead. I figured the important characters were more than likely alive, and maybe a few others were dead.

I think Relm has a hat with a bow on it. In her profile picture for SNES it looks like she has a hat based off of Dr. Seuss' "Who" designes and she has a ribbon in her hair. Her actual sprites make it look like a bandana or a hat either way.
LOL, though I can't really be sure! blush.gif
