mine are Cloud (obviously), Barret and Cid.
when Cloud was hospitalised, i used Red XIII to fill in the missing spot.
tifa is alright, but i prefer to stick to the guys.
aeris is a waste of time because she dies.
vincent is good, but only story he has is behind the water fall, cant recall any sidequests.
yuffie is a thief.
cait sith is a lame stuffed animal.

plus, swords and spears are great weapons, shame Barret doesnt use somthing else, but it is original.

Cloud is a required character (I don't like him except for his physical power), but I like Red XIII cause he is an amazing magic caster. Cait Sith is cool! Anybody who has a stuffed moogle is cool, and I want one! Also, when Cloud is in the infirmary, I use either Cid or Tifa.

i like cloud (brill character!), red XIII and vincent. thats always my team. you have to use cid when cloud is hospitalised i think.

My team is usually Cloud, Vincent and Barret.

I use Aeris as much as possible in the early game for her magical prowess and her healing Limit Breaks. Bosses are made so much easier with Great Gospel at your disposal

Mine Are Cloud (duh),Red XIII, and Tifa

Cloud Because he's the one who has to fight Sephiroth
Red XIII because he's got the kollest hometown
and Tifa because she's got the best limit breaks(in mi opinion)

My team is in 1CD Cloud, Aerith and Cait/Red/Tifa.
But in 2-3CD I use Cloud, Cait/red/tifa/yuffie ^-^

Red XIII, for the "wise savage" appearance. Cid for being himself and inviting me to tea. Vincent for being an ex-Turk, a good shot and not whining and doing some blasting instead. Tifa for being lively and strong in both story and gameplay. I dislike Yuffie. I HATE Cloud. That would be it.

Amen to that. Back when I had the computer version (traded it for FFV and VI, by then I had it for PSX) I had a cheat system called the JENOVAProject, and I used that to keep her in my party. She's the best healer, and given enough power and defense boosters she can hang out in the front row and actually deal some damage. I mean, getting thwapped with a metal rod HAS to hurt.

My usual group for disc one was Cloud, Aeris and either Vincent, Nanaki, or Tifa.

In disc two Tifa became permanent, sharing healing duties with Nanaki. But I did use Vincent frequently. Cid, Cait, and Barret could all hang out and drink together for all I care. Actually, I take that back, at least Cait is cute and cuddly.

Cloud, Red, and Cid are my usual party when I end the game. Sometimes, I use Vincent but I don't like his final limit break.
If it was an option, I would not use Cloud and maybe use Tifa. That would be nice :}

I always keep Aeris in my party for all of disk 1 because I really like her defensive limit breaks. After disk 1, I use all of the characters equally. However, my favourite party for the final boss is Cloud, Tifa, and Red XIII simply becuase they're my favourite characters.

Enjoyed them all.

Even though Cloud is a required character, I really like him. He's got a great deal of damage to deal and isn't all that awful with magic. I often make him a healer since he tends to live the longest in my party. I also try and make him as fast as possible to give a wonderful combination of both speed and power in battle.

As far as the others go, I've most often brought Cid and VIncent along, subbing Cid out for either Red XIII or Tifa since they're both good for limit breaks and damage dealing, the former also having a good handle on magic.

Although, the last time I played through, I was developing a penchant for Yuffie who's not so bad in in my humble opinion. She's a quick little bugger and having the constant ranged is always nice. Also, once I understood her whole transforming things in to good stuff abilities, she just became that much more useful!

I actually did an experiment not too long ago because I found that the only three characters I used were Cloud, Vincent, and Cid. I tried to go through the game with the original 3 (Cloud, Barret, and Tifa), but I don't much like Tifa's limit break skills, and Barret doesn't have the variety I'm looking for in a character. I love Vincent's transformation skills and Cid has Highwind. Cloud, well... Omnislash has always been my fav technique in any FF game.

My party changes quite a bit but I like to keep it to a few variations
Cloud, Yuffie and Cid
Cloud, Vincent and Cid
Cloud, Vincent and Yuffie
And I always keep Aerith in before she dies.

I Don't like Barret he's just too... Loud? Foul Mouthed?
I don't like Tifa, She's a wimp and she's too jelous for her own good xD
And as for the rest, they're boring

Cloud is a given for most of the game. I accompany him with Tifa and Aeris, then Tifa and Red XIII. Tifa is his old childhood friend (and date, in all my games), Aeris is a natural healer (points to avatar), and Red XIII is the most acceptable substitute for her. Barrett, Cid, and Yuffie just get on my nerves too much. Cait Sith just never worked for me.

By dreamteam is Cloud (of course), Cid, and Vincent.

I love that team. But also, I use Cloud, Aeris, and Red; Cloud, Aeris, and Cait; and Cloud, Aeris, and Vincent. Until Aeris dies.

Cloud is required. But I love him anyways. His Limits are WAY powerful, and he can inflict massive damage normally.

Aeris because of her EPIC healing abilities. She is really important to me, because without her, I would have died way more times. She also has some pretty nice HP stats.

Red has a fairly good ATK, and his Limits can totally dole out the damage. He's also good with Materia.

Cait's a good fighter, and his Limits are capable of MASSIVE amounts of damage. He can also equip and master a crapload of materia at once.

Vincent is good with materia, has all Long Range weapons, a good attack, and HIS LIMITS FTW. Also he's my favorite character so yeah.

Cid is pretty versatile. Also I just like his attitude.

I'll also occasionally use Yuffie. She's a cutie.

i typically stick to Cloud, not only cuz hes required but hes BAMF with materia and killing... once he has master command hes just an jerk. if you dont like him just dont play the game, his story is FF7. Vincent cuz hes is the summoner of justice *i mean his entire outfit is almost completely red as is the materia...he was MADE for it), he is Chaos (amongst others) and once you play DoC you know that his story is just as much of FF7 as clouds is. and finally Tifa. shes Clouds original woman from childhood, shes not that bad with materia or attacks (shes the female cloud) and getting all yeahs on her limit with Final Heaven is just a freakin jerk.
yeah i use Aerith before i get Vincent but thats about what i usually stick to. i dont really bother with too many others... Cids pretty awesome i use him for the Diamond Weapon fight along with yuffie and Red on the other side of weapon of my other team i dont really bother leveling them up since they do it themselves outside of the main party to an extent. although i have used them enough for me to see all limit breaks of everyone.
im shocked actually that i havent seen the main party combo i have cuz even when you watch AC you see in the story and the Bahamut fight that the only 3 truly prominent and characters that own Bahamut are Vince Tifa and Cloud...everyone else is kinda worthless then. Red does alright i guess he does limit break on the beast.... wow what else is there to say.

too bad zack was never playable... oh well i guess thats what CC is for

In my first game I used Cloud, Cid and Yuffie, and I actually liked Yuffie quite alot. Cid is just, too cool for school man.
