It's, erm, great that you like GTA 4, but what is so good about it that will make me want to buy it? What has improved from the other games? What songs are on the radios?

This is a pretty good video review of the game.

I picked it up at a midnight launch last night and haven't done much else since.

Wow,
I was really looking forward to this before,
but now looking at this review..
I'm just much more excited!

It's much more realistic.
I love the city environment here.
And even the small places in the cut scenes have a lot more character to it.

And now you're playing a Hispanic man.
I think that's cool,
but I still prefer good ol' Tommy.

Loving the car physics.

I wouldn't worry too much about running continuity in GTA. There are a few cameo reappearances between the PS2 series, but they're almost entirely self-contained - and now GTA4 presents a different Liberty City from GTA3, I imagine most, if not all of the connections to the previous games will be dropped.

Mine's arriving today, along with an Eggbox to play it on. Probably won't play much until my holiday next week, though.

Of course you realize I'm going to endlessly demand that you both get Xbox Live and give me your gamertag, Tiddles. You know, so we can shoot at each other in some new game and I can sing to you through xbox headsets rather than in UT and over teamspeak. Seriously. You know what I do with tanks in that game, imagine the possibilities for vehicle mayhem here!?

I'm picking up my copy this weekend and I'm pretty excited about it. GTA for me has always been about hours and hours of stealing cars, doing ridiculous things with them and then slaughtering endless waves of civilians and police officers. The improved gun fight mechanics are just going to make that even more intense.

Just thought I should point out that Niko is Serbian.

I also wish they'd announce a release date for PC already. I don't have Tiddles' disposable income. wink.gif

According to my sources, there's been some comments made about this game being particularly susceptible to death by scratching. That is to say, I was told that the game disc has a tendency to stop reading properly with what would be a minor scratch on previous systems. If you're buying it from EB Games or Gamestop, I'd recommend picking up a gameplay guarantee on it (it's only $3 on new games, where I live) so that they'll replace it for you if it stops working (or if it's attacked by rabid flying chinchillas who throw it in a bucket of nails when they're finished - that's covered, too).

Ah, reminds me of PS2 San Andreas - although it was the PS2 DVD drive that was especially vulnerable to breaking under the stress of playing it. Bad times indeed.

Thanks for the note.
For some reason,
I thought his name was Miko too, instead of Niko.
But then that doesn't sound as right.
I need to get my ears checked or something.

My friend says the adult content will be much more graphic,
especially in sexuality.
But the rating's already M, isn't it?
Though I already see that woman in the review is, well,
heh.

Also,
I wonder how many models of cars I get to steal...

You, gotta love GTA. Questions about race, sex, and how many cars you get to steal.

What a great game.
