What game would you like to see a sequel/prequel/expansion to? Any RPG ever. I'm hoping no one answers FFVII wink.gif

My choice would have to be Vagrant Story. I love that game, its one of my favorites of all time, and it has such a great story. The ending leaves a lot to be answered, and there is so much squenix could do with a vagrant story II.

I said it here long before FFT: War of the Lions was announced, but I'd love a prequel of FFT in which the player is Barbaneth with the gameplay and party roster similar to the original with some differences here and there. This has been mentioned in a thread in the FFT section only recently, however.

First, I'm pretty sure this should go in General Gaming Chat. Second, I think there's another topic like this, but it might be only about sequels... so I dunno. Anyhow, my immediate answers would be Skies of Arcadia and the Chrono games.

Skies of Arcadia is one of the absolute best, most underrated RPGs of all time and absolutely needs another game in the series - I don't care if it's a prequel starring Daccat, a sequel starring the children of Vyse and his two girlfriends, or a distant sequel or prequel with only passing references to the original. I want to sail with the Blue Rogues again.

Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross are two very different but both very excellent games. Trigger was created by the best of the 90s Square designers accompanied by character designer Akira Toriyama and Dragon Quest writer Yuuji Horii, while Cross's staff is nearly exactly the same as that of Xenogears, with only a few holdovers from the Trigger staff. Two incredibly different games in a two-part series that could use a second sequel with a third creative team behind it. I'd be all over that like noun on related noun.

I agree with "Vagrant Story." I love that games story, and would like to see a sequel. Or a prequel.

But my first choose would be "Illusion of Gaia." I've always liked that game. I don't know what it is about it, but, it's the game I play over, and over, and it's like I'm playing it for the first time. I prequel to that would be awesome!!

Illusion of Gaia does have a sequel - Terranigma for the SNES. In fact, they are the second and third games in a trilogy. Oddly enough, Terranigma was released in Japan and the UK, but not in the United States. But still, I wouldn't say no to seeing a fourth game in the Soul Blazer trilogy.

Most of the series I would like a prequel to are done and done already:

Lufia 2 was a great prequel to Lufa

Metroid: Zero Mission was a prequel to most of the metroid series (although it's really a rehash of the original story with some more backstory.

With all of the argument about which Zelda happens first, I think they're all their own prequels. tongue.gif

The only game I would really like to see the backstory of would be the original Light Warriors from FFV: Galuf, Kelgar, Xaeat (sp?), and Butz's Dad.(can't remember name)

The first fight sealing up X-Death would be cool, especially since he wouldn't be a tree. tongue.gif

There is all sorts of backstory that they could make to make the game interesting without affecting the plot of FFV.

Final Fantasy VII has several sequels, prequels and other things that just don't fit anywhere in the scheme of things. I loved the game growing up, but come on. Enough is enough.

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and say I'd love to see another sequel in the Chrono game series, they certainly leave room for it and with the lack of RPGs in my life lately, it would certainly be the jolt I'd need to get back into it.

A game I'd really like to see a sequel to is Riviera, a game I played on GBA a while back that absolutely floored me for how much fun I had. I know it was rereleased with bonus material for the PSP but I'm not sure if there's a true sequel in the works. Here's hoping.

Keep making Ace Attorney sequels, please. I can't get enough.

No. Please don't. For the love of anybody and everybody in those games, don't. They should've ended after Trials and Tribulations. Apollo Justice is stretching it already, and the next one they're planning...I don't know. I really don't know.

I'm pissed off that they're making it. For one, it's a cell phone game so it's destined to suck, and for two, why did they need to do it in the first place?

agreed. it's destined to be worthless, and it'll probably even end up hurting our memories of FFIV. gross.

back to the topic though, how a bout a Grandia 4? im sure there'll be one, but i want one that is actually worthy of the original Grandia. and i would like it relatively soon, as in this-console-generation soon.

Yeah, I wish they would think about the American audience a little more. Same thing with that 20th anniversary book only released in Japanese. I'm going to have to learn to speak Japanese to get the things I want to play and read.

Anyways, I'd like to see a new DKC platformer. I loved those games. Actually I'd like to maybe see a remake of the first one.

Parasite Eve could always use another. Maybe with more emphasis on detective work and running around in the police station in a sort of Fahrenheit fashion.

Chrono obviously. There's just some unwritten lovable quality to Trigger that they need to try and pass on to a new generation now that getting a copy is so difficult.

You can get chrono trigger in final fantasy chronicles pretty cheap still on ebay or amaCoN and a surprisingly high amount of stores.

parasite eve 3 is coming out for cell phones i believe. or maybe that was a different game? im not in the mood to look it up right now. course, if it is a cell phone game, that doesn't count for anything.

I totally agree. I'm not a big fan of the expand on the universe of a game idea, because it drains all the imagination out of the plot, and eventually we all get bored with it. I would much rather see fresh, new FFs.

I want... a new Double Dragon game. and I don't mean stuff like Double Dragon vs. Battletoads, I mean a new game in the true series...which hasn't been since the NES.

And what ever happened to Punch Out? Super Punch Out was pure awesome, they could soooo work with that on the Wii. Bring back King Hippo! ...Although that does bring back unpleasant memories of "Captain N"... *shudder*

Most RPGs can stand well on their own, so I don't worry much about those... although I would like to see Shin Megami Tensei IV rather than another Persona game.

I could prolly think of more...but I won't! Because that requires mental effort. Oh..on a slightly related note though, they should totally add some Weaponlord characters to Soulcalibur. Maybe Divada, she ruled.

the game most deserving of a sequel/prequel/remake is something that's been up on square's shelf for years "live a live"
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
and to me a sequel for an rpg means, new world, new characters, new crisis, same basic concepts.

greatest concept for an rpg ever. never made it to the states, and even though it's a great game they didn't make a sequel,

...but they so inclined to make a movie that ruins the stigma at the ending of another great rpg.

I want a third Golden Sun!!! I've been screaming this ever since I finished TLA. There were so many rumours that I kept believing they would make one for a couple more years, but now, I've lost hope. Sigh.

Final Fantasy IX would be good too.

I wanted one for Tales of Symphonia but now that I've seen the sequel that they're making, I'm not so sure....

Golden Sun were very fun games in large part for their puzzles, the psychic powers, and the customization of said abilities. I managed to finish them once and then gave them away to a friend, because while fun the games had uninteresting storylines and characters, and I didn't feel the need to play through them a second time. However, some kind of sequel or re-imagining, using some DS touchscreen features, could be something really sweet. Camelot's been busy with sports games recently, but I'd definitely like to see them turn out an RPG sometime eventually.

I think the setting of Golden Sun is ripe for making lots of stories.

It's like a complete fictional world where stuff vaguely makes sense. They could use the world without making it related to the plot of the current games, though I guess it wouldn't exactly count as a sequel/prequel.

If you wanted a good idea for a sequel/prequel, maybe we could find out more about why alchemy was sealed away...
