now wouldnt that be a good game if squenix made a prelude to war of the lions that takes place during the 50 year war? you could play from either side or a completely different person altogether. I had been thinking of this for some time now and im sure some other people have been out there too. tell me what you think

What about an MMOTRPG set during the 50 Year War? Just imagine, a vast, persistent world, in which you could build a small warband led by your custom avatar (who, of course, would be selected from a list of several special classes). You could battle the wildlife, or other players, undertake missions, and on a special, cyclical, limited time server, experience the story line complete with the famous characters like Marquis Elmdor and Balbanes Beoulve.

That sounds like a commercial for the game. Anyways, a Tactical RPG would be awesome.

Heh, it sounds like you've put a lot of thought into this. But I still think that a turn-based tactical-grid MMO is a bad idea for a variety of reasons.

Honestly, if they ever make a real sequel to FF Tactics (and none of this Tactics Advance nonsense), I want it to be starring a new set of characters, with only references to the original cast and storyline of Tactics, if that. It would give the writers more freedom to create a good storyline and would eliminate the possibility of bastardizing or cheapening the storyline of the original. However, this new Ivalice timeline that they've made seems to be support lower-impact spinoff stuff like A2 and Revenant Wings than a proper sequel to Tactics.

I think that if Square ever comes out with an official sequel, they're going to want to reuse characters, or at the very least, the Zodiac Stones. I'm sad to say it, but I doubt they could manage a "clean" sequel.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever tried out the game Dofus?

No, but I also don't care to.

i think if they had just about the same battle set up with some new classes taking place during the 50 year war they could work wonders, the game doesnt really ever go into detail about it so all they would have to do is deal with relations between the main characters, they wouldnt even need to use the zodiac stones since the only mention before the original tactics was during the time of ajora.
i think a prequel would actually be fairly easy for square.

Not if they did it right. It would be innovative.

the wii would be a cool little idea,
either way i think it would turn out especially well seeing as how well put together crisis core was. making a 50 year war wouldnt even be that hard seeing as that there is not much to go off of anyway
