Also, if it is after FF10, just say so in a post....

On another note, mine was FF7, this game overall had alot of intricate details that if you misses one, you're *******. Also, the some of the boss's where no east feat, considering what level you are at and your materia.....

What's you opinion?

None of them are very difficult at all, really, unless you impose conditions on yourself to make it that way. The hardest one is probably the NES version of FF III.

FFVII because it was the first I'd played. I had absolutely no idea what was going on for the majority of the game, and had to start again on the Demon's Gate. Also I didn't beat Emerald or Ruby for years after I'd bought it. Bear in mind I wasn't even nine at the time.

Final Fantasy XII for me, which isn't on the list. Final Fantasy XII is one of the two Final Fantasies where I've had to stop and level up, just so the casual monsters don't rip me limb from limb.

After that would be IV, which I also had to stop and level, but not nearly as much as I did for XII.

Other than that, I'd say... X-2. It's a feat just to stay interested in the game >>;;

FFVIII all because of one boss Adel, it took me a while to beat her. And dont laugh it took about...2 years pinch.gif I pretty much gave up on it eventully until I finally beat her. The rest of the game was pretty easy though.

i voted for FFV, because i still haven't beaten it. i atribute this to 2 causes: 1, i often find myself confused as to where to go/what to do, become lost, and give up, and 2, i have to train my characters for hours just to get past every signifigant boss. sure, this is probably because my characters are all fighters of some sort.

I love how 2 is winning, even though nobody comments on it xD
I guess the leveling system makes it arbitrarily difficult.

It's definitely 5. I kept dying at Siren thumbup.gif

Wait.. If your talking about 1st tries. Then I say FF8, because the whole entire game is against you in a way.

Eh, I null-voted simply because there was never one in particular that difficult for me. Final Fantasy XII has a issues as far as difficulty inbalance. Various sidequest enemies from the Hunts are either outrageously overpowered or ridiculously time-consuming (aka Yiazmat).
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Not only that, but I disliked how the final battles were easily beaten if you had the Gambits equipped. You would expect that the final battles would give you a difficult time.

I voted for the original. Some pretty extensive leveling up was required for several parts of the game, most notably the hunts for the Crown in the Marsh Cave and the Floater in the Ice Cavern. It was also very expensive to outfit your party with the proper weapons, armor, items, and spells just to survive (much like the beginning of XII). The lack of a life potion made the game quite difficult, as you had to rely on a life spell or a clinic to revive fallen party members. And of course, the amount of life spells you could cast between visits to an inn or a cabin/house was quite limited.

FF1, the original NES version (Not the PS or DOS re-release) was the hardest in my opinion.

FF2 was just irritating rather than actually difficult,

FF3 I haven't finished

IV and VI only got difficult if you rushed and ran from a ton of battles.

Tactics had it's moments where it got tough

VII thru X were a cake walk compared to the earlier games, with the exception of Ruby Weapon in VII and Ozma in IX which were not required bosses to beat the game.
I haven't finished XII so can't comment on it.

i nulled vote because none of the games have given me a great deal of trouble. the only reason i havent beaten III is because my friend has it, but that one is also pretty easy. i can beat I, IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, and XII no problem (VIII blindfolded probably....im a beast at that game. i beat omega on a low level playthrough. only items and attacking, no limits). yeah.....II and III give me minor inconviences, but nothing major.

I can't make a fair comparison 'cuz the only FFs I've beaten are VII, VIII, IX, and Tactics. I just can't bring myself to finish FFX regardless of how many times I've told myself I was gonna' do and my PS2 stopped playing PSX games, so that blows FFO (I and II) and FF Anthology (V and VI) out of the water. However, I AM getting off-topic a bit.

Of what I've played so far, I can't really choose any that's really hard, unless you count time-consuming leveling "hard". If that's the case FFI by far, but I grew up having to spend a considerable amount of time to get multiple Level Ups and loads of cash for stuff, so that doesn't bother me much.

However, I always used to have very difficult time with Chocobo sidequests in FFVII and FFIX, so much so that I surrendered to the giant birds to continue on with the main story. Despite the fact that I've yet to beat X after so long, the hard part about it is brining myself to finish once and for all...

Final Fantasy IV was pretty difficult. I actually had to cheat and duplicate Excaliburs for Edge to throw at Zeromus in the end cause I didn't find any better way >_>

Final Fantasy Tactics was also pretty hard if you didn't spend time leveling ALL your characters. Some missions were difficult, like the one at the Execution site and the one where you had to fight the guy with his two assassin slaves. IIRC, this is the only other FF I cheated to beat. I used the trick to gain infinite AP points and made all my characters into gods. =D

If by "hard", then you mean the "hard because it requires tactical strategy" or the "hard because of overpowered enemies that kill you in 1-2 hits and you do 0 damage"?

No matter, I still think any game can be easy as long as you know your way through it. I still consider FFV to be more challenging and fun at the same time, while I see FFII as the game to have enemies that kill you in 1-2 hits if you don't boost your hp up. I can't decide, but I'll go for FFV since it's a much, much better game than II.

I went with the OG because it was danged tough. No phoenix downs to speak of, only White Mages and Red Wizards, if I recall correctly, could raise you from KO, and if you died at the main boss of a temple and hadn't exited partway through to save, you gots to start 'er all over again. It was a trying, though still really fun game to play. I want to revisit it again once I get some of my other neglected games finished. Woo FFXII and Dark Cloud 2!

Runners Up:
FFII - I believe it to be hard because it's just so dang lame! However, because I'd someday like to tackle them all, I'm sure I'll suck it up and try playing it through again.

FFVIII - Similar to the above, rather lame in many moments, though I think I do give it more credit than most out there.

FFV is fun, it's jsut very involved.

I voted for FFI, based on lacking in story, and (at least in the NES version) difficult controls.

I'm used to ganging up on a single monster in a group, and then moving to the next one.

Me Playing FFI:

5 Goblins attack!

Player 1 attacks goblin A -> HIT!
Player 2 attacks goblin A -> HIT!
Player 3 attacks goblin A -> HIT!
Player 4 attacks goblin A -> HIT!

Player 1 attacks goblin A -> HIT!
**Goblin A Dies**
Player 2 attacks goblin A -> Miss!
Player 3 attacks goblin A -> Miss!
Player 4 attacks goblin A -> Miss!

**Chaos Appears**

Chaos attacks non-existent player 5 -> Miss
**Everyone Dies anyways**

... Okay, so the part about chaos is fake, but that is how the rest of my battles really go. It's such a great thing that the newer games are programmed to re-target to possible targets when one dies.

Due to the lack of solid, "It's time to go this way!" Paired with unnecessary misses in the random battles while I'm looking for the next vaguely worded place to go, I've never even gotten to the second city in that game.

Probaly both as when i was playing tactics i was like 8 or 9 so the ideas of leveling up and using proper tactics never occured to me

just play the dawn of souls version, sure it takes away the difficulty, but it's much more fun.
