Squall is the only character I truly disliked in any FF game

FF6 - Umaro, Gogo - because they weren't, really, proper, charactors.
FF7 - Cait Sith, Cait Sith, Cait Sith, Cait Sith, Cait Sith, Cait Sith.
FF8 - Irvine, thought he was going to be a lift to the team but then became a pussy just when they needed someone to be half decent.
FF12 - bleugh, kill them all, won't care, either way.

I agree on the ff12 kill them all thing.Who actually cared about them?I got bored near the mine bit when you have to save peneolo or whatever she is called.That Ba'gamman should have killed her.Too harsh?

If Penelo had died I would have been devastated I never knew what was going on anyway.

I tried to pick a least favourite charactor for FF12, but I couldn't, that's how bad the game is. They're all so rubbish I can't pick one that is more rubbish than the rest.

And here was me thinking Cait Sith was one of the best characters in FFVII lord knows why I thought that.

Personally I couldn't stand Yuna in FFX. Dunno why.

I disagree with that. Ashe is a gem of a character: the princess who loses her father, her kingdom and her lover.

The beauty of it is that it's so believable. She has a tired expression and speaks with real fatigue as if she has genuinely been fighting an impossible battle for two years having lost everything. Then the cutscenes of her before the war show her as happy and young again. A brilliant contrast. If that wasn't enough, she lusts for power to restore her kingdom, and shares some flaws with her enemies. There is no standard good vs. evil here. I don't see how that could be irritating. The other characters may not be as interesting, but Balthier, Vaan (in some respects) and Basch ("Kingslayer" for goodness sake!) hold their own in the world.

Penelo and Fran are both annoying, admittedly, just because Ashe shows how good a female character can be, and they ruin it somewhat. In the manual it has a description of each character: Basch is a fallen knight, Balthier is a sky pirate, and Penelo is Vaan's friend! She really doesn't hold much weight in the plot. Fran's voice is bad and she looks really thick. Her lines are quite idiotic as well.

Great enemies too. They all intertwine into the plot well - even if it was beyond some people. Again, no standard good vs. evil. Lots of backstabbing, conspiracy and shaky alliances. It's fantasy at it's best.

The good characters far outweigh the bad, and deserve recognition.

After reading sweetdude's post, I decided to look in my booklet and see if this was true. Afterwards, I was loling like no other.

FFI-The 2nd character you pick. They are a jerk.
FF4-Tellah. Or Edge.
FF5-None. If any, King Tycoon.
FF6-Ehhh, Relm or Shadow.
FF12-Kytes, all the other characters were ok or greater.

I don't like Zell from 8. He's one of the reasons I didn't like that game as much. Squall seemed like a ripoff of Cloud, but I guess that isn't a good reason to hate him, because Cloud is a great character. Plus, one might say Cloud's personality is like Cecil's. But anyways,

Ultros kind of got on my nerves, but I guess that's what he was supposed to do.

Tidus was okay, until he spoke.

And I don't agree with you about Telleh. Any character who calls someone a "spoony bard" is a great character. I do agree about Wakka though. He was pretty bad.

Well, I hate almost all of FF8 cast (except for Laguna, Edea and Seifer).
Squall is kind of stereotype, as well as Selphie (hate her), Zell and Rinoa.
Irvine is anonymous and Quistis is just useless after disc 2 -and she's an irritating spinster anyway, IMO)
And I hate Penelo from FFXII too.

Instead, I like Relm from FFVI (as well as Rydia from FFIV). Maybe she's not the best character, but knowing her being Shadow's doughter makes her more interesting.

Think I would choose Selphie and Penelo as most irritating.

Squall has got to be the most annoying main character in Final Fantasy 8. And Kefka's the most annoying villain. But nothing could be more annoying than the emo/goth worshippers of Sephiroth.

palom and porom were ok but i dunno they were my least favorites.

FF6 i loved em all

FF7 i hated cait sith,sephiroth barret cloud tifa i didn't care much for red or yuffie.Ff7 seem kind of bland.

FF8 made not much impression,laguna loire and the other guy seemed to stick a little more but i keep forgetting about the main characters becausae they are so non memorable.Bland to the extreme.
