I know this has probably been done before but I couldn't find it in the forums so I started a new poll.
I only listed the more popular ones and few others. Kefka and Sephiroth are both my favorites but I went ahead and voted for Kefka because I liked VI overall slightly more than VII This post has been edited by Kefka's Revenge on 17th February 2008 04:35 |

I liked Astos because I couldn't stop laughing at him the first time I saw him. And I had over-pumped my characters, so I killed him in one hit lol

^ lol, Astos is cute.
![]() In the series? I guess FFT doesn't count then! How could you leave out Gilgamesh! Ultros, Gilgamesh and the Turks had some of the wittiest lines in their respective games and often added a bit of comic relief when the story was taking a tragic turn. They weren't real antagonists after all. Kefka's an awesome villain, though probably not the kind of awesome most fans view him as. I just found myself sympathising with him after briefly hearing about his background from an imperial soldier. Still, he isn't a character you'd normally forgive because of it (unlike Sephiroth for example). Even though some of his villainous traits are cliched, he's a unique one in his own right. Of course Amano's design is the icing on the cake. Very beautiful. Sephiroth is a good character alright, but he was an ineffectual antagonist. Even Hojo, I found more interesting. Same with Golbez.. although I like him for some reason. Garland, Ultimecia and Exdeath are your common, irritating fairytale-evil to the freaking max. Sometimes, I can't help but wonder which of the characters is a REAL villain. When it comes to the deepest RPGs, it's usually hard to make up my mind regardless of whom the game forces me to fight. I won't vote. -------------------- Random game quote of the day: "Wilt thou change this world... Or wilt thou change thyself?" (Water Dragon, Chrono Cross) |

Kuja because he has that kickarse silver dragon, and he had a bunch of black mages at one point. And IX is my favorite FF. To bad he died.

Kuja.
For the sole reason that upon seeing him for the first time, both of my cousins, in unison, said "Woah, she's well fit!" And I've laughed every time I've seen him since. Though Seymour's pretty good too. Gotta love crazy hair styles. But then I also love Jenova too. And Hojo's pretty awesome. Heck, they're all great. |

Kuja, no question about it! FFIX was a great game and Kuja had a tremendous combination of poetry, flair, magic, ruthlessness, and mysticism to become my favorite video game villain of all time!
Kefka comes in at a very close second because not only does he have the killer clown gimmick, but no deep, symbolic reason for becoming a villain unlike most everybody else (if I understand it correctly) and that, in my opinion, gives him an honorable position within the greatest of the FF villains. Quote (Florediorre @ 17th February 2008 07:05) In the series? I guess FFT doesn't count then! How could you leave out Gilgamesh! Personally I consider FFT and FFTA part of the series despite the lack of roman numerals, but I suppose that could be a matter of conjecture. If I remember my FFV correctly Possible spoilers: highlight to view Agreed he is a much more interesting character than ExDeath.doesn't Gilgamesh change sides towards the end? The poll only allowed me to put 10 choices hence why I put 'other' as a choice. This post has been edited by Kefka's Revenge on 19th February 2008 03:14 |

Cid from FF XII. Great combination of genius and insanity, sprinkled with a dash of humor.

Spoilers please people! I've not finished FFV yet.
Sephiroth is a great enemy. What I particularly like is how you see him from lots of different angles. The three major factions of FFVII (Sephiroth, Shinra, Avalanche) play off against each other throughout the game, so Sephiroth helps you, almost, at a few points. Not to mention that you see him as a friend in the Cloud's Past part of the game. Finally, the Shinra Mansion music is the most foreboding in the entire series, and it really adds to his character. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. I do have to admit that Kefka is hands down the best villan of the entire series but, my vote goes to Garland. Because hey, he was the first main villan and also the first dark knight( yeah the whole fallen warrior tone and awesomeness thing won me over) and come on, he has the powers of chaos, immortality and the four elemental fiends.

After thinking about it, i realized i didn't ever have a favorite villain. so i thought about it, and decided on....
Garland! From FFIX! shocker! there was something just kinda cool about him, and he did help out at the end. he had his little terra thing working out pretty well, but after he got defeated, im not exactly sure what his motives became. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! I can never really answer this question. My knee-jerk answer is Kefka, but Sephiroth is excellent also. They're very similar and yet very different.
I think one of the big differences between Kefka and Sephiroth is that Sephiroth seems so cold and purposeful with what he's doing where Kefka is just total mayhem. The biggest example of this I can highlight is in their theme music. Do you know what Sephiroth's theme reminds me of? The sacrifice music played in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It's more ceremonial than evil. Sephiroth is kind of like a figurehead in some fanatic religious cult. The summoning of Meteor isn't just to kill the planet and everyone on it - there is a higher purpose behind it. Here are clips of both for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9HztgEj2Qo&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C0PvdPxv-w&feature=related Contrast that with Kefka, who acts out of pure spite. I always felt that him becoming all-powerful was just an added perk of trampling people underfoot. Kefka is truly mean-spirited, and I love him for it. Kefka by a nose. Well, I decided to go for Hojo. Not because I like him, but rather I despise him more then the others. Knocking him around brings out a rare sort of passion of mine. After I whomp him...I just turn off the game, cause I couldn't care less about Sephiroth.

I'm ganna have to go with Kefka. I would like to say Sephiroth, but the endless clones and gay-ifying of his character since FFVII has lead me to be quite bored of him by now. =P
Kefka, on the other hand, remains original and has not been vastly overused since his part in VI. Bless the insane little git. -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

There could be some spoilers.
My fav villain is Kefka. He's so mad and... bloody °_° and I love his loughter. He's REALLY evil, not like Sephiroth who's a more complex story behind him and different motivations (I think he's not so bad. Ok, he wants to destroy the world, but it's understandable XD) Anyway, I love both of them, in different ways. On the other side, I hate Ultimecia (or Artemisia, in Italian): she's so pointless, even though she could have been a good character. I prefer Adel, who has a bit more of background. Kuja is good character, in my opinion; I like his redemption at the end, it makes him more human. Seymour is too foreseeable, but not so bad, as a character. Oh, and I like FFXII Cid. Love when he dies and complains about his silly son, instead of begging his pardon. At the end, I chose Kefka ![]() -------------------- E adesso aspetterò domani per avere nostalgia Signora Libertà , Signorina Fantasia (F. De Andrè) |

I'm going to have to go with Sephiroth, though I haven't played 6 yet. |
