Err.. Generally in FF I use fight. This is because in FF bashing the opponents in is usually better than playing with them.
However, if I am not playing for fast win or complete ownage or am playing a game that doesn't rely so much on 'bashing' than I love to use magic. I mean really, what is more entertaining.. smashing someone's skull flat or turning them into a toad and having yourself some froglegs!. |

Well, some characters in RPGs just automatically are better with magic, no doubt about it. But I would use a good combination of the two. Physical power obviously is important, such as with enemies who are immune or strong against certain spells or can cast reflect of something. Then again, enemies who can beef up their defenses and/or are extremely strong, will be able to withstand some of the strongest warriors.
Either way, beefing up your HP and strength is obviously important, but so is keeping your magic up, in my opinion anyway. If I had to choose which one I'd use the most, I'd say just keep hitting away with my sword, but I'd still level up my magics. ^^ -------------------- We, who cannot see into tomorrow, have no way of knowing... That's a very interesting question. It depends, really. For example, in the remakes of FFI, you really need to have your Black Mage cast magic in randoms (since he has lots of MP), but the boss battles really come down to fighting. Another example is FFX, where Lulu MUST cast to get rid of certain enemies efficiently.
Generally, I use Fight the most in random encounters, excepting really hard single enemy ones. I use magic more in boss fights, both to beef up with Haste, etc, and to exploit weaknesses. There are exceptions to that, though, such as FF8, where I use the Magic command for a total of TWO fights in the whole game, and FFVI where I pretty much use it at the beginning and then use Ultima and Curaga at the end without using any other spells. Of note is FFXII, which really encourages magic use sometimes, such as Physical Palings, as well as buffs and debuffs. Final battle I spam Scathe during the physical Paling portion. Also, a side note--Potions are easier to come by than Ethers... This post has been edited by yelanates on 22nd December 2007 05:41 |

In most online rpg games, mana regenerate and high level spells takes long time to cast with longer cooldown (where as in final fantasy series u can just cast one ultima after another ,weee, take that last bosses >_> ). but then, im assuming hojo mean FF games in general ![]() -------------------- I will be there... |

Magic is fun and looks cool as but just thrashing someone with a sword is so much fun and you dont have to rely on mp to kick ass. so, probably fighting.

Fight. To varying degrees depending on which game.
I, II, III, V, VII, and XIII I hardly used magic except to heal. VI, IX, X, and XII were more of a mix but I was still more reliant on the physical attacks/special skills than magic. IV probably saw the most magic use from me, especially since you got some pretty high level spells available to you early on. |

I usually have at least one character disassemble enemies with massive physical attacks and at least one caster launching sadistic spells at the same time. Fire is a personal favorite. I guess if I had to pick one though it would be fight because it's just most direct and elements and resistance seems to matter in less cases

I like a nicecombo of the 2 personally, but when it comes right down to it a strictly physical game is generally easier...well for the most part

I was mainly a Magic User (FFVI) with the exceptance of Chainsaw and Blitz (and perhaps Rage but that could come under both categories).
In FFVII I think they were pretty even, but FFVII was the birth of Limit Breaks. ![]() ![]() ![]() In FFXII I usually just fight unless i'm in a really desperate situation, like that stupid Firehorse thing near the beginning of the game or that judge dude that won't bloody die. ![]() I can't decide. Limit Breaks or Summons? I like both. ![]() |

Generally I start off more physical, but in all FFs i've played more than once I enjoy how many ways you can beat a single opponent, I enjoy exploiting a character's finer abilities.
So even though I do start off physical for me it's always, could i have accomplished that in a simpler matter for example in FFV the first time i played through i beat Magis/faltzer with a party of monks, however during the black mage SJCC i found out Faltzer is susceptible to sleep, and that casting magic damage doesn't wake up a sleeping opponent. So with might I won easily, with magic i won without being touched. So I'm more of an exploiter than a fight/magic buff. My favorite Characters are usually Dragoons or Machinists/Engineers This post has been edited by Cloud_Strife510 on 8th February 2008 07:23 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

I used to love physical attacks the most when I played Final Fantasy for the first time.
But ever since Vivi came along, I've liked magic more. But of course physical attacks are always helpful. -------------------- Snake: I'm no hero...never was...never will be... I refer magic I mean why waste HOURS leveling up your characters when you can just obliterate enemies with a HADOKEN er.. I mean... You know hit em' with status effects and elements and stuff.
