A Good Christian Song (for a choir)

Not sure if this is an answerable question but, i thought i'd ask, just in case there are any people here who would have any suggestions.
I'm a sophomore in high school, and our school is pretty well known for music. a few friends and myself are looking for a challenging traditional Christian piece set for a 4-8 part choir of men and women to sing for our choir. I have no idea how to find such a piece. i know its a pretty detailed request, but any help would be amazing. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra does a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Pachabel's canon in D that they've named, "Christmas Canon." It's sung as a round, and I think there are about 4 parts. Their version is sung with a childrens choir, and it's so beautiful that it's the only thing that ever makes me cry anymore.
If a high school choir was to sing, and perhaps even coordinate with the orchestra. (You're a sophomore, you have time to do this awesome in another year if it's something you would want to pursue) Other than the orchestra thing, piano in the background would be nice as well, but having a low/male voice to compliment the high/female parts would make that song even better. How about "Mary, Did You Know?" It's not "traditional" but it's a neat song anyway. It's been recorded by tons of people (see the Wikipedia article) so I'm almost positive that you could find an arrangement somewhere that would work for your choir.

"What Child is This?" and "O Holy Night" are two of my favorites, though they may not be what you are looking for. I have no idea how "challenging" they are for an orchestra, or how many of what instrument is needed, ect. They stir the soul, though. Good luck on your search.

If you are looking for a song that bases itself more on the alto/bass section with a soprano harmony, there are some great versions of, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" We used to do a version in our church choir that was actually fun to sing.

I have heard of/definately like all of the suggestions, but i didn't clarify enough. what i'm looking for here is a NOT christmas song. thanks though, and BTW we are doing a nice all-men arrangement of O Holy Night.

How about "This little light of mine"? It's a gospel song and I like it very much, even though I don't consider myself a Christian. And it can be sung just as you wish, with all the voices you got.

"Silent Night" is my second favorite Christmas Carol that would be great for a Christian Choir. "Oh Come Emmanuel" (or something similar) would be pretty cool, too. It has a beautiful arrangement with wonderful lyrics, but I'm not sure if it's classified as a X-Mas or Christian (both?) song.

If you want something on the difficult end, look at some classical pieces. One that springs to mind is Felix Mendelssohn's 'The Heaven's Are Telling the Glory of God.' It's definitely not easy, but it's learnable, and it's in four parts. There are also a few really nice arrangements of Bach's 'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring.'

Thank you so much Basch! I have hear O Magnum Mysterium before, but i couldn't remember the name, i just remembered how much i loved it! Thank you! And thanks Ancarchist Dream, i had forgotten about Ave Maria as well.
