When I first played through the games back when I was still sitting in front of a TV and had a controller in my hand, I always seemed to use Sabin & Shadow in my group. The others were interchangeable. But always Sabin & Shadow. Blitz and Throw? you can't beat that.
I guess I just have a huge affinity for physically driven characters. When I play my games today, I try to appreciate mages and what not, but I think I get really stressed when worrying about how much mp I'm using, and how far across a dungeon I have to stretch the usage, and will I have enough for the boss, etc, etc. Anyway, to be on point for one second, I would absolutely say my favorite party of all time would be: Terra - because she seems to be the unbalanced character in the entire game. With her physical AND magical capabilities, you can basically just do whatever. I LIKE whatever. Sabin - I don't care where you are at with power spells, or if you have genji glove/offering combo, or whatever. Blitzes are very cool. Any character that I can enter in street fighter style button combos to kill baddies with is a winner in my book. And Bum Rush? Yes. Shadow - He just looks cool. And interceptor is friggin awesome! Don't tell me that when you were level 13 and running around in the base near doma castle, you didn't LOVE having shadow 'not' get hit, and out of nowhere some dog comes and nips a monster in the butt, frequently killing it? Celes - I always felt like I wasted a slot with her, because I NEVER used her runic ability, and probably never will. But there is just something about her. Maybe I feel like she'd be really hot. I'm not really sure. Obviously my party is not made up with strategy in mind. It's more of a, who's cool and who's not in my book. |

Hehe, I tend to go for some of the more "overlooked" characters. While Edgar, Sabin, and Locke all kick some arse, they sometimes lack a certain "charm". Maybe that's just me...
SETZER - Who can resist the free-spirited gambler type? I used to be a big Locke fan, for speed, but he soon gave way to Setzer. His Fixed Dice+ Offering + many, many Odin level-ups more than made up for what was lost. CELES - Often overshadowed by Terra, but her Runic has a certain something to it that I happen to like. With Minerva and more, I like to pump her up with insane amounts of MEvade, rendering her nigh invincible (cheap, yes, and it only works on the SNES rom, but hey, whatever). As for attack strategy: Economizer + Gem Box + Ultima = Win. End of story. SHADOW - Ninjas with shurikens. Can't get much cooler than that. His Throw is deadly and his speed is deadlier. With Marvel Shoes and a few Odin levels, baddies are gone as quick as lightning. GAU - CATSCRATCH. And perhaps I'm lazy, but raging him and letting him go often leaves me more free to worry about the other guys. Sometimes I'll stick another random in his spot, like Umaro or Gogo (Mimic Ultima...), and one day I'll try it with Strago+Relm, but until then.... Uwaoo~! |

Sabin: Bumrush, Bumrush, Bumrush...
Gogo: Mimic, Mimic, Mimic... Terra: Atma Weapon/Illumina attack eight times with offering while morphed...practically 9999 every time Cyan: Plenty of time to charge up for Quadra Slice while Terra is attacking if you sequence it right, which is pretty easy with a little planning This has always been my final team, and I tried a bunch of different formulas and team combinations before I settled on this one...and never looked back since =p -------------------- |

I usually have Celes, Setzer, Edgar, and Sabin in my party. First off, I like Setzer since his sprite looks awesome as well as I boost Celes and Setzer's magic power. Thus, they are my magic users. I like Sabin since he has Air Blade for many enemies or Bum Rush for good damage against bosses. Edgar is also good because he has Noiseblaster, Autocrossbow, Air Anchor (I think that's what its called), Debilitator, and Chainsaw (Drill works well when Edgar continues to try to kill the enemy with one hit and he always fails.). And usually I have Setzer learn all the spells first.

Hmm i dont really have one team presay, i do use some characters more than others but not really one team. If i am trying to get there skills, i will have a team of locke, gau, mog, and strago. Mog is usually on my team and so is locke, they both in my eyes are very useful characters, then i usually have shadow, hes a good blance of power, and i usually give him high magic. the last person is usually a wild card.

The best team ever is this
Locke: Super speed and health, rocks with genji gloves Edgar: Chainsaw says it all Celes: Very good magic and physical attack; is unstoppable with Thamasa's lost magic and gold hairpin (Economizer is even better) Sabin: Phantom rush along with master scroll and blackbelt PWNS!!! This is who i used and my friend who got his whole party up to lvl 99 agrees also. |

I always take Locke, Terra and Celes with me: I can't live without Locke and his sad story, and I love casting magic.
The fourth carachter is generally Shadow, but I often take Sabin or Cyan with me. Parties from first game:
1st Gau, Terra, Sabin, and Gogo. 2nd Locke, Celes, Edgar, and Mog. 3rd Cyan, Strago, Relm, and Umaro. That's how they were put together for Kefka's Tower, and that's how they'll always be. So I mainly use the 1st party, 'course. I'd replace Shadow with Umaro... Possible spoilers: highlight to view but... I didn't wait for him at the end of the floating continent. i always used Edgar, Sabin, Cyan and Gogo/Unmaro for my first choice of team or what i call my 'power house' team.
Terra, Celes, Strago and Mog for my 'magic' team. Locke, Shadow, Unmaro/Gogo and Setzer as my 'just because they're cool' team, lol. -------------------- "I'll live on for you... That will be my penance." |

Quote (King Eddy @ 17th July 2007 19:16) I remember a topic like this was around a few months back, before I had played FFVI. Anyway, I like a team of Edgar, Relm, Sabin, and Celes. Good magic, good physical attacks, can't complain. Relm isn't the strongest physically, but she can do almost 1 000 damage at the level I have her at (around 35). My team is like that, but instead of Celes, I use Strago. I think Lore is a pretty good ability. Blitz is just cool. Tools are the powerful comic relief. And Relm is my magic person... Just cause shes cool. Sabins cooler though ( |

I'm using a different party now. It has some of my favorite characters, and it just looks cool!
It consists of Celes, Edgar, Relm, and Mog, in that order. Celes and Relm are both the powerful mages (though Relm's more of a mage and Celes fights some), and Edgar and Mog are both Dragoons. They work really well. |

In WOB:
Terra Edgar Sabin Locke Replace Terra with Celes when she's unavailable. Mostly for the plot line development. But also because Locke can steal stuff and does good damage (i put genji glove and thief glove to attack/steal twice each turn), Terra/Celes for good magic damage/heals, Sabin for awsome aoe damage without the cost of mana, and Edgar for his tools which are fairly good until up until the very end of WoB. Id actually prefer Shadow over Edgar but he's so inconsistant in WoB. in WoR: Celes (Good Magic Power) Sabin (Blitzes / Good Physical Power) Locke (Steals Stuff / Good Physical Power) Gogo (Whats not good about this guy?) |

I didn't really find any reasons for organized party in FF6, since you can get all the spells on everyone ^^
whoever was in my part, it was either... 8x physical attack or Ultima / Cure3 / Osmosis -------------------- I will be there... |

My most effective party:
Celes or Terra - They are pretty evenly matched but in my last game Celes ended up being the more powerful character of the two. These girls are my magic casters; they know every spell just for kicks, but end up being mostly used for curative magic. While the other three fight, Celes or Terra is there to cast Haste, Shell, etc. or Cure spells. Sabin - He usually just straight on fights the enemy, but I can count on him if I want to cast Vanish, Float, etc. I have a big soft spot for Sabin; I think it's because of his Blitz technique. He just kicks so much *** I can't leave him out. Edgar - I can never separate Sabin and Edgar. If Sabin is in my party, so is Edgar; and really, it's cool because Edgar does a lot of damage in my game too. I love the Tools command and if Celes or Terra is down, he knows a good deal of healing magic. So basically, he fights and casts spells. Cyan - The fourth character is optional, but out of all of them, Cyan is the best. SwdTech is great and in my game he's just really strong. Equip him with Genji Glove + Black Belt and I just feel really strong. |
