Ok, the game asks me to either save Kid or let her die. I'm not using a guide, but i have heard that this is a fairly important decision. What should i do? Explanations would be wonderful as well.

Quote (BanjoTheClown @ 8th October 2007 21:16) Im guessing save the kid. Also what game is this? My guess is Chrono Cross. There's a major character named Kid in it. I *think* that saving or not saving Kid determines which characters can join you and which characters can't join you, for the most part. I really don't remember how it works; it's been too long. Just make sure to use Glenn! (personal favorite). -------------------- |

yes, this is Chrono Cross ("CC" abreviation in title). i didn't want to spoil too much of the story by using a walkthrough, however, i did print off a character guide so that i could recruit as many as possible. by saving Kid, you can recruit Korcha and a couple girls. By not saving Kid, you can recruit Glenn.
My main concern is whether or not i will be losing out on a part of the story. the opening montage includes a lot of Kid footage, giving me the feeling that she is considered a main character. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Saving Kid will get you a certain set of characters. Not Saving Kid will give you different set. Whichever path you do NOT choose, that set of characters will NEVER be available in the game again. Lasz is right, Glenn is in one of those groups, and he's the master lol.

I never save Kid because the characters you get as a result of letting her go are much more useful to gameplay and all around better characters, in my opinion. That and the fact that I absolutely can't stand Kid as a character at all. Ultimately, it's up to whether or not you feel she's worth keeping. Mind you, Glenn alone is worth 100 Kids, easily.
My vote is let her go, it won't be the last time you see her, believe me. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

Even if you miss some characters, you can get them in a new game + playthrough. It's the only way to get every character.

Yeah, IIRC it's impossible to get everyone <edit: through a single playthrough, I mean> (or very, very difficult; I forgot which) so you're very likely to end up playing through both outcomes anyway. You may as well pick whatever you feel like and leave the other option for your next replay. Whether or not to save Kid, huh? Either way, she can be 'saved', but you probably wanna know the other stuff. 'Just so happens Chrono Cross is one of my few areas of expertise. Well, here's the breakdown:
SAVE Doing this gives the opportunities to get Korcha, Mel, and Razzly. Korcha is a piece of work, an all-around sucker. Even the girls are tougher than him! Mel is an alternate thief you can use and has a double tech with Kid [which is rather dumb in-and-of-itself as it still just steals and not necessarily with a better success%]. Razzly is about the only thing good to come out of it. She's a great green elemental, an exceptional magic user, and a cutie-pie! Getting her LV7 tech Raz-Flower can be a pain due to very specific things to do/not to do [I'll explain if you want]. Our dear faerie friend also falls in the minority of having a special weapon that only she can equip. Korcha isn't missable [dangit!] but Razzly and Mel are. NOT TO SAVE Choosing this way gives opportunities to get Doc, Macha, and Glenn. Doc can be missed permanently, but Macha forcefully joins, then can leave [and, IIRC, you can talk to her again to re-invite]. Glenn cannot be missed, luckily. He's an extreme powerhouse to start with, has an early double-tech with Serge [X-Strike], and later on gets his own set of special weapons that ups his physical damage like it's steroids. Doc's a white-innate and has a nice healing LV7 tech, meaning he can spam MagNegates if needed. Macha's ain't too bad herself, but who are we kidding? Everyone picks this path for Glenn, and will tell you as such regardless of storyline implications. --- Kid is actually "missable" until endgame [depending on your choices] if you're unaware of how to proceed. Some people think that's a good thing given how "annoying" she is, but whaddya gonna do... The window of opportunity is still there, so I guess the developers don't like featuring a lassie on the cover only to have her be unavailable the entire time. I voted "save" because it seems mean to let her suffer. And because it really doesn't matter either way; even with Glenn and such characters, the game is still boring tripe, and -- uh oh, I've said too much.
