Well I'd have to go with "Tidus", not that he's weak or anything like that, but I HATE HIS VOICE !!!! (In the US Version). Â

I really don't like Vincent. He's trying to be that cool mysterious guy like Shadow, but he doesn't succeed very well.
I'm no fan of Aeris and Yuffie either. But Tifa is lovely! -------------------- People say I'm a slow learner, but I type fast! |

I dislike everyone in FF8 (except some GF's), and Quina.
Other than that I am slightly peeved at Krile for not being Galuf and for having goofy outfits. Wakka annoys me mildly. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

Wow. I was going to post, but then I read Neal's post and saw that his was almost exactly what I would have said, to the letter. My only disagreements:
- Vivi's trance doesn't suck in higher levels. I love the crap out of that little mage. - I hated Tidus also, but Yuna seemed to me to be even more worthy of hate. She had so many times where she just answered an insanely quick "yes" to a complex question (and the laughing scene made me cry with lost hope for humanity). - I'm not sure if your hatred for Cait Sith was strong enough for my liking. I hated him from the begining, but then he betrays you and you keep him around? No chance. I would have killed him long before if it were possible. Everything else was dead on (Setzer, Cid, Edge, Daggar/Garnet, Reina, and FFVIII in general). This post has been edited by io_rage on 1st April 2004 05:08 |

Quote (firesoulbird @ 26th October 2002 07:45) However, I just cannot stand Rikku of FFX. Â She's so obnoxious. Â She is my Favorite Character! FFIV: Oh Wait I forgot Gilbert/ Edward, I feel like such a moron FFV: Cara FFVI: Umaro FFVII: Aeris FFVIII: Rinoa FFIX: Amarant FFX: Kimahri FFX-2: (THis deosn't count 4 FFX, in FFX these characters are cool!) Yuna and Rikku, Paine was cool, I wish Yuna and Rikku weren't being stupid. FFTA: Llednar C.T. (Is Chrono Trigger okay?) :Marle On offense anyone, I just can't stand these characters. How come you all hate Cait Sith so much, he wasn't that bad. I would have to agree with Elena1999. He kicks. In fact, when i was facing Reno, Rude, & Elana, his slots ability provided insta-death. BEAT THAT! I didn't really hate anyone.

I guess I'm a member of some pretty exclusive clubs, I don't hate Cait Sith or Edward, or anyone from FFV(although that's only because I didn't play through Square's hideous "let's make Faris talk like Long John Silver" translation).
I really disliked Cloud until I played through FF7 recently. I can tolerate him, probably because I'm five years older and I understand him better. I can't take Mr. T seriously, but he's hard to hate. The only people I really can't stand are Squall and Tidus. -------------------- Sabin: ... to Mom... and to Figaro. FF5- Lenna, cause she really seemed pretty whiny
FF6- Umaro, Relm, GAU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FF7- Cait Sith (Dice and Slots were the WORST Limits, and he stunk in battle), and Aeris (stinks in battle, I'd say more but I'm still trying to figure out how to use the spoiler thing) FF8- Everyone except Zell and Irvine, who were the only cool characters there FF9- Quina, Square took the whole food obsession a little too far This post has been edited by Shivy on 2nd April 2004 05:04 -------------------- "I was using a metaphor. Ah, breathing new life into an old topic. Although this is similar to the "Who should die" topic...
BADLY DESIGNED CHARACTERS (and character classes for FFV) FFIV: mages for their attack power, Tellah for his low maxMP, Edward for Hide (during the siege of Fabul only, since you can't heal between battles), Palom and Porom for the relative awkwardness of their joining, Edge for his low HP and defense as a fighter. FFV: -I liked the design of all 5 characters. -Classes: white/black/dimensional mage, summoner, chemist, and dancer for their bad weapon equipment; chemist for having rather useless skills on all class levels except !Revive (well, it's powerful and useful enough that it becomes sort-of worth going to the trouble to get), dancer for being basically useless (with an unreliable physical attack and no magic), berserker (for being basically useless unless you're a lazy player) FFVI: Locke and Celes (e.g. Locke: Celes... Celes: Locke... this got boring after a while), Celes for Runic, Mog for stumbling, Relm for Sketch (Note: I did find Locke's attack power annoying weak initially, but later realized that that makes sense--he's a thi--"treasure hunter", by character class, not a true fighter) -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Not necessarily a bad character in the conventional sense, but Eiko's quest to get hitched struck me as awfully creepy. Understandable, maybe, based on plot elements, but creepy nonetheless.

Hmmm it is a tie for me between Aeris and Selphie. The two most annoying characters...EVER. At least Aeris had the decency to die

Well, Brother from FFX-2 is definitely up there after being plugged into the game again the past few days. Wow is he annoying. That Angels in the Outfield dance formation him and the "guys" thought up? Ridiculous.
But of course, let's not forget the StayPuft Marshmallow Moogle with his likewise apprentice: Nat King Cat. Brother's voice, actions, and general existence makes me bleed internally.
Yuffie and Aeris also noticeably got on my nerves. A few more: FF: Thief, of course, but I liked the Ninja class, so it's cool. FFII: I never liked Emperor Paramekia, but that's to be expected. FFIII: Scholars and Bards. Never used 'em more than once. FFIV: Gilbert (Edward), just because he's so cowardly in battle. Even his "encouraging" talk with Possible spoilers: highlight to view doesn't stop him from hiding!Anna's ghost FFV: Krile, because she's just no substitution for Galuf. FFVI: Umaro. He's the only character I always get but never use. Sure, he comes in handy at the Fanatic's Tower, but I usually either haven't gotten him yet or completely forget about him at that point. FFVIII: Zell. Just...no. FFIX: Steiner's annoying throughout a good portion of the game, but even that isn't as bad as Eiko's obsession. Zorn and Thorn were pretty bad, too. FFX: Tidus. I just cannot stand him, his voice, or the way he "Huh?"'s every other time someone says something. FFVII- Cait Sith, what exactly is he good for?
FFVIII- Irvine, not only useless, but he's pussy. FFIX- Quina, to obtain any Blue Magic you have to eat the enemies. problem is, Garnet's Scan ability never works so you never know when they're about to die which makes it very difficult. FFX- Tidus, i'm all for a happy protagonist but seriously FFX-2- Brother, i've already stated before why i hate him so much. for those of you who didn't see it and don't have time to dig it up, here we go: annoying voice, and i mean ANNOYING!!! he's always dancing around and making stupid poses. whoever did the mo-cap for him must have felt very goofy. finally, he's chasing after his own COUSIN. seriosuly Square, WTF!!?? my list:
FF4: just about everybody in this game. i just dislike FF4 FF6: Strago the old man and Sabin the "tough" guy. I didn't use Blitz a lot FF7: Cait sith: useless stuffed animal and spy for the shin Ra FF8: Zell I think he's a wacko and always late for the hot dogs FF9: Garnet: she doesn't have alot of use in the game. I used Elko as my healer. and tactics: Malak: doesn't very much with his skills advance: the judges: it would've been fine without you guys giving me warning cards when I needed to cast a spell that's forbiddened. FFII: Didn't get too far into the game (I don't like the idea of having my characters get butchered by monsters/each other to gain levels), but I'll have to say Lionheart. If he'd actually been there for most of the game he might have come in handy, but nooooo.
FFIV: Poor, helpless, pitiful damsel-in-distress Rosa. Hate hate hate hate hate hate hate. With a bloody passion. Just... ARGH! Edward's a close second, because he's like a he-damsel in distress. Sing came in handy occasionally, but he really got on my nerves once he went into Hide mode. I wanted to kill him myself. FFV: Lenna. Can't stand damsels in distress. Krile comes in second, because Galuf was a million times cooler than she was. And thank goodness I never played through the Square translation of FFV, because I would have ended up hating Faris instead of her being one of my fave characters. FFVI: Relm was annoying only because she was useless in battle. Yes, she's got the highest natural magic power, but that can be remedied, and the kid can't take a hit decently. Umaro and Gogo were also pretty useless story-wise. But at least Gogo could strap on some good abilities, and it was fun watching Umaro pick up someone like Sabin and whip him at a Brachosaur. =Þ FFIX: Nobody, really, although I did find Steiner really blockheaded for a while. FFX: Tidus. I'm sorry, Tidus fans, but any self-respecting womanizing sports star should not be sporting the same hair as Meg Ryan. FFX-2: Hmmm... Leblanc and Brother, but they're not playable. I didn't mind Yuna so much (can't mess with gunslinging summoners), Paine was cool, and I've always liked Rikku. FFTA: Mewt. Damn whiny stupid... ARGH!!!! CT: Marle. I don't care if she can heal and revive people. Frog, Ayla and Robo could heal too, and they were a million billion gazillion times less annoying and death-worthy than Marle. Besides, I don't think I ever died in CT anyway. This post has been edited by LadyRed on 23rd July 2004 04:45 |

Heh. Seems I too am one of the few who actually like Edward and Cait Sith alot. They seem the most human of all the cast in their respective games, which makes them that much more fascinating to me.
Worst Square-Enix character ever? Worst Enix Character: Meilin from Terranigma. God. I loathe and despise bratty children. Worst Square Character: Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7. Just cuz he's a bishoneny samurai, everyone automatically gives him the bad-ass award as the best RPG villain ever. I found him to be a very weak and shallow anime villain. Hell, Chaos and Zeromus seemed much more frightening and credible than Sephiroth. Worst Square-Enix Character: Llednar Twem from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Gag unto me with a spoon. He was such a horrendously cliche stereotype. Not character, stereotype. The strategy guide makes him sound like a huge factor in the storyline, but he turned outt o be very blah. He could have used a lot more development. -------------------- And behold, I saw a Pale Gaming System, and the name of he who rode it was Squaresoft, and Enix followed him. |
