There's nothing wrong with speculation. You didn't present that statement as fact, but prefaced it with "didn't they". No biggy, man.

I don't game anymore on consoles, but I think a FFVII remake with cutting edge graphics and music/effects on a modern engine would be quite a sight.

Any of you who are ign should no this. Best Buy was nearly sued because they had posted under there ps3 game that they could pre-order ff7 remake when there wasnt one even being made. Now nomura the art director HAD STATED that they were considering it but the square-enix board told the press or informers ((whichever one)) that they had no intention of remaking the game..........sorry for those of you who believe there is a remake trust me i am most dissapointed myself. although i believe the website is petiton.com they have a ff7 remake petition where i believe last i checked over 50k of people signed so check that out.

I don't really want to pay £460 for a PS3, methinks I'd better just buy the FF7 remake and play it on my mates console.

Someone said earlier that Square should stop milking the success of FF7 or something or whatever. I couldn't really give a toss. I want more!

Of course it did. But that's not the point. FF4-6 had pretty good 2D graphics. FF8-9 had pretty good 3D graphics. FF10 had great 3D graphics.

That's not the biggest problem with the game, by any means, but it's the only game where updating the graphics to what developers can do now would be a significant improvement. To do that to FF4-6 would require a complete remapping of the entire world, and probably just be stupid. To do that to FF8-10 just wouldn't have as big of an effect.

It's too much to hope for that they'd fix the plot holes or get rid of Cait Sith entirely. But better graphics? That would make me marginally happy. Block hands...ick.

sqenix admits that the production of FFVII was rushed thts why theres like 5 versions theyre gonna make of it lol. graphics were CRAP, even worse but the re-make.........whole different story:

In the main sephiroth battle you need Cloud(no, DUH) with Cid, RedXIII, Barret, or Yuffie, Possibly Vincent if you have really good materia, and sometimes Tifa. but Cait Sith, lol. I think hes just a character that make FF so cartoony and at times funny.

Please don't confuse the issue by referring to that tech demo video as proof of a remake. It's not. The video you posted was just showing off what FFVII would look like on next-gen graphics, and Squenix has stated that it in no way implies that they're remaking the game.

And don't double-post. Use the edit button to add more thoughts.

I think it would be awesome, i've seen the trailer [tech demo] on youtube and aeris isn't wearing a michelin man suit =P

WTF?!

Wow...never saw the Tech Demo. And I personally think that eventually, there will be a remake. A lot of other people said before that SE milks it for all it's worth, and as well they should. It was an amazing game (I admit not the best FF, but still my favorite), AC was a decent movie even without a strong plotline, and I'm getting a PSP mostly for Crisis Core. And the Tech Demo actually makes Cloud look like a badass as opposed to how the graphics in the original game made him look like a weird doll with Popeye arms

isnt a crisis core PSP like $400~$500 nowadays? Man i wish square sold those in America. I would die for just the keychain.

Hmmm I would have rather prefered a remake for Final Fantasy VI....hmm but then again thinking about it maybe I dont. FFVI is so perfect I dont want them to prehaps ruin it in a remake.

That video is no different than what people have been talking about for almost two years. It's no indication that "it's coming," so don't get your hopes up just yet.

Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN?

I some what doubt that they are going to even make the remake that people want. I mean for one thing the game is what over ten years old? if they were going to make a remake they probably would of started on it by now. Also at this time they are currently working on enough projects that need there full attention. Plus if anything they are just going to keep remaking the classics and let this game just fizzle out (oh please let that happen.) besides as much of an unfinished game as it was, it doesnt need a new remake for the ps3, it just needs a few areas filled in.

I do not understand you.. You're basicly saying "Leave the bad graphics, and don't care about the good graphics" I would love the PS3 version because: 1. I would have a reason to buy PS3. 2. I really love FFVII but only thing that sucks is the graphics, so better graphics would be more cool. ^^

I would love nothing more than to see an FF VII remake with improved graphics and a lot better translations

I like the game the way it is but a remake, well, lets just say I'm for it because i would like to see the characters in like AC sort of graphics since they're originally like 12 pixels tall.
Then on the other and what would happen to W-Item and the three mystiles?

What do you mean ?

my bad its a typo, it was supposed to be "hand" if you didnt notice. the w-item glitch (select an item click ok, select a target, select another item click ok, click cancel you know) would most likely be fixed and the trick for the three mystiles (youre supposed to only have two and then you can get a third one from tifa if you send her on the right path and take the left path yourself, then go back to the right path and get the mystile then talk to tifa for the third one)

and one more, about that cave in the great glacier where you can get infinite elixirs just by not moving the text box.

in other words, most of the glitches would be fixed...

what i am saying is leave it as it is, the game is what it is and if you monkey around with it too much you are going to just mess it up even worse. I know it would be awesome to have on the ps3 (not for me personally, i dont want the game to be remade) but the graphics for the most part arent the worse part of the game.

I wasn't necessarily ecstatic about the tech demo, even. I think it's one of those things where the "If it ain't broke, don't fit it" rule fits perfectly. Personally, I wouldn't care for the game even if it was remade simply because VII just wasn't one of Final Fantasy titles I was absolutely ga-ga over. I don't understand why people thought the game's graphics were "revolutionary" even for its time. Sure, I guess you could call it revolutionary because it helped bring both Japanese-style RPGs and Final Fantasy to a broader audience, but beyond that the game was fairly bland to me in comparison to most Final Fantasy titles.

In the tech demo, I absolutely hated how Cloud jumps out of the train and does all these flips It's so unneccasery; ruins the mood of the scene; ruins the flow of the cg movie into gameplay, and makes cloud look stupid.

I'm afraid if they remade it, they'd do lots of these types of things. Like throw in bullet time, have panning camera angle, charecters jumping about all over the place to look as badarse as possible .etc It just wouldn't feel right. FF7 is meant to be dark.

For the record, he doesn't do any flips. To be honest, I don't think they'd insert too much of that sort of stuff. Its likely they'd include a lot of similar stuff to what was done in Advent Children. So apart from a ridiculous chase scene and some awesome, yet impossible leaps and jumps, IMO it would be tolerable.

i didnt mind advent childrens impossibility....i just took it for what it was. i think its high time to make remakes of the later games...theyve made remakes of everything else 473 million times...i really want a remake of IX...or VIII...hey a guy can dream cant i?

Dude, if I am thinking correctly, there have been numerous rumors and at least one of the head dudes at Square-Enix has heavily hinted at a remake. There are always people who say that they thought of it but eventually decided against it, but some companies are indecisive. ("Should we or should we not make another several million dollars?" is the question they're asking.)

If these rumors end up being true true, I don't think I'll ever see a non-remake and really good Final Fantasy realeased again. (Perhaps there is some hope concerning FFXIII... but maybe not. Can't judge things too quickly...)

you're probably thinking of when nomura said that if the fans wanted it, its always a possibility, but unless they hit a rough patch with xiii, i dont think it's happening.

I don't believe that they are glitches, I think that they are cheats that The-Firm-Wich-Has-Name-I-Can't-Remember decided to put in.
Like in GTA or something you press right combination of buttons and you get a cheat on.
Kind a like getting Final Heaven to Tifa by playing piano.
Well, the remake would be awesome since I really like Final Fantasy VII, and only thing in this whole game I dislike the most two things.
1. That when Aeris dies.
2. Graphics.

I really would want to see the new graphics. That would make the game better, but this is just what I think.

The graphics and the translation were the only parts i didn't care for. I hope they make a remake simply because it is my favorite FF and I would love to understand what they are saying a little better. Plus there wouldn't be all the $*#*@($( when Barret and Cid talk because the censors have laid off a lot lately. Anyone else here the Grunts drop some F-bombs in Halo 3 or was it just me?
