Some hot new scans and other goodies:
Here's a scan showing the characters in more detail then ever before. Here's a comparison of the original characters with their new CG look. Looks like they finally nailed Amano's designs in CG. O God, I totally love Rydia's character design. Rosa's great too. Too bad there are no screenshots showing Yang, Cid and the twins in more detail. And I wonder how Golbeze will look like.

From the corner of the pic of Cecil and Rosa, it looks like Winter, 2007 for a Japanese release.

I know that Cecil's design is extremely accurate to the Amano original, but I do wish he had ditched the blue lipstick, just for me.

I love the fact that the character's drawings are more true to the original artwork. one of my favorite parts of the scans is the in-battle one i saw on the fourth pic of ronin's post. it just all flashed back to me, and seeing it in 3D is so different, yet amazing.

Personally I like the fact that you can clearly see they've learned from their mistake in the FF3 remake by not using the two screens enough; it appears that the bottom screen is used for a map when exploring dungeons and for HP etc in battle.
Phew. As for touch-screen functionality, I'm 100% not fussed about it, but I suppose it might be interesting to see if any minigames or whatever use it. As for online stuff? Who knows. There won't be mognet obviously, and I'm not sure if they can (or should) try and shoehorn anything like that in, particularly with the added story elements presumably taking priority. I'm REALLY glad I didn't get FFIVA now.
The DS version looks sweet, and Rosa actually looks good now.  Can't wait to see more of this. The plot stuff sounds awesome too.I'm definitely getting this one. -------------------- FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver. |
